New Gnome Weapons - Clarification

Liberty's Edge

In Gnomes of Golarion, there are new weapons listed. The table says exotic weapons. Would these weapons be considered martial to gnomes?

Yes, it's the "weapon familiarity" racial trait. All exotic weapons with your race name in them are martial for that race.

"Weapon Familiarity: Gnomes treat any weapon with the word “gnome” in its name as a martial weapon."

Liberty's Edge

They don't actually have gnome in hte name, like Gnome Hooked Hammer. It is just under the heading, New Gnome Weapons. An example is Ripsaw Glaive

!! You are right.

My feeling is that they are intended to all be treated as "gnome" weapons, the fact that the table heading says exactly that sort of implies it but is by no means definitive. Until I hear otherwise I will allow it in my game but it seems like it really should be a more clear.

That's a really good question.

Wording aside, there's no point in making gnomes spend extra feat for using those weapons. If I wanted to play a fighter that uses one of exotic gnome weapons and had to spend a feat in any case, then I'd rather play a dwarf :D

Well they're all 'gnome' weapons because they're on the 'gnome' table.

I don't see someone burning an exotic weap feat for them, honestly.

BTW I am looking at this thread but we're all swamped with getting Bestiary 2 out the door and I want to read all of this thread (and the other one about it) to make sure I get all the questions and don't miss anything.

Glad it is being looked at! I like my gnomes!

Sovereign Court

they're all gnome weapons and thus considered martial if to any gnome

The problem is though, there is no word "Gnome" in the name of the weapons. That is what they are looking at.

A table title counts in the naming of a weapon listed within a table.

Any answer on this?

I was at a game where this topic came up. It says so someplace in GnomesoG that they are considered Martial weapons to gnomes.

Tho at the moment I'm not seeing it

From the companion itself:
"All of the items below count as halfling weapons for the
weapon familiarity halfling racial trait."

This line is where the weapons are introduced (on page page 22), rather than above the table where it should be. Hope this clarifies things!

Gnome. Gnomegnomegnomegnomegnooooooooooooome... I meant gnome...

Was this ever clearly answered?

There's no such text in Gnomes of Golarion. There is in Halflings of Golarion, on page 22.
