Stats for a Fox? ...And other Witch's Familiars...

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Scarab Sages

Hey there folks,

Maybe I am missing something, but do stats exist anywhere for the Fox (Or Goat).

We are using small dog, but that doesn't really capture a Fox. Yes, I can make something up, but the player would feel better if there was something 'official' out there.

Thanks in advance

The official stats for these are supposed to appear in the Bestiary II, I think.

For now use the stats for a small dog for a fox.

As far as a goat goes, you'll likely have to make something up.

Not official but you could use a ram for the goat.

For now, the best stats are:

Fox: Dog with the young template.

Goat: Dog, but replace it's bite attack with a gore attack that does the same damage.

Tome of Horrors (from Sword & Sorcery) has the Fox.

Unfamiliar Familiars (from Fiery Dragon) has the Fox and an equivalent to the Goat as the Bighorn Sheep.

I still don't think the young small dog works for the fox, at least not the red fox, since it's really a small sized creature and skill focus perception doesn't really work unless you can find a way to limit it only to scent and hearing (since they have rather poor eyesight). I really can't wait until the new Bestiary comes out.

You might consider using a badgerhound instead. Its not quite the same, but it might be close enough.

Spoiler:
Badgerhound (and many other dogs) come from the great book "Phantasia Zoologica I: Dogs"
