Anyone here think it would be a problem to allow a Sorcerer with say the Infernal bloodline to acquire a familiar/bonded item with a feat?
you can effectily get a familiar using the leadership feat
if you want the familiar class ability specifically I say its worth more than a feat. familiar are part of the reason bloodlines are more powerful than school powers.
but like i said to start if you want somthing like an imp as a companion you can get one as an 8th level cohort via leadership feat.

said the evil DM as he plotted ways to steal the bonded item rendering the hapless sorceror less useful than a paperweight

Guilty as charged.

I have a sorceress in my campaign that wants a familiar more because she wants a cute fuzzy companion than an actually useful ally (girl player, go figure). So I am trying to figure out a way for her to do that without taking the duel bloodline arcana, because she doesn't like the penalties associated with it.
Ideas?

They already can, with the Eldritch Heritage feat. Just choose Arcane Bloodline and you're set. Of course there is a prerequisite feat, but if you're a half elf you can get that as a bonus feat anyways. So it's a little spendy but doable.
If you'd rather it be cheaper, that's totally a house rule you can try out if other people in your group like the idea.
As to if it would be a problem? I don't think so. Familiars are great as backup utility spell casters if you take Use Magic Device, and Sorcerers are better at this, but it's not a huge deal to have a relatively weak creature fluttering around using a wand of some low level spell every round. You can summon mephits to do that kind of stuff already.

If all she wants is a cute fuzzy companion, and not a useful ally, why not just give her a cute fuzzy companion? Does she want the ability to share spells/empathy/advancement with her level? If it's just something for RP purposes, then either handwave it, or have her spend some money on it (a few gold, tops).
If it doesn't feel like she's given up enough (despite the fact that it's basically RP fodder), then still go ahead and just give her an obedient cute fuzzy companion, saying that it's been her loving pet since childhood- and any time it's hurt or killed, it mysteriously shows up the next day without a scratch. Then, in ten levels let it turn out to be a demon or extraplanar force that one of her ancestors bound their bloodline to, and it's been taking the cute fuzzy companion form as a way of keeping tabs on its property (i.e., the PC).
But seriously, if a player just wants a cute pet that won't actually participate in anything but roleplay, why do they need to spend a feat or class ability on it?

It's not our problem no matter what. That's between you and your DM. If your DM is PFS than it's a no and there's no appeal here either way.
Why is it that people think that these message boards are an avenue for adjudication for home campaigns? You want something? Ask your DM. If your DM says yes, you've got no need to post the question here. If your DM says no, we're not your court of appeals.

To get familiar:
1. Get Skill Focus (one Knowledge) and then Eldritch Heritage and select Arcane bloodline.
2. Go for Diabolist prestige class. This way sorcerer can get imp companion on 6th level. Requires spending some cash on lesser planar binding scrolls to make peaceful contact with a devil. Or hiring a 7th level cleric or 9th level wizard to do the same.
