Diabolist Companion shapechange

Rules Questions

Just a quick question

First the diabolist companion says it has d10 HD
and that it uses diabloist + caster level to determine its Hit Dice

so for all intensive purposes the imp companion is a full d10 HD critter which will basically have a Fighter HP.

Now throw in the whole share spells thing where spells with a target of you can be cast on your familiar

so your full d10 Imp + Form of the Dragon III or Plant Shape III, Giant Form II, Shapechange.

and you've got a sweet potentially HUGE critter with fighter HP, skills, feats that fits inside your pocket :)

Normally you'd resist shapechaning you wizard familiar becuase it only has 1/2 wiz HP and would die pretty quickly, but with d10 HP its got the meat to backup the form.

Anyway just checking that works inside the rules

has no one tried this before ?

It's not a Familiar, It's an Animal Companion, so it doesn't follow the rules that Familiars do in terms of HP, it has its own HP Based on its HD and CON Score.
