Suggestion Spell how does it realy works.....

Rules Questions

I have i question regarding the Suggestion spell....
It states that "You influence the actions of the target creature by suggesting a course of activity" but the problem is the next sentence, which states "The suggestion must be worded in such a manner as to make the activity sound reasonable."
So what is reasonable ?????
My friend saw in a comic a unique way of u using it. Hear is the link.

So the real question is can this work.....
Suggesting that you sit on your hands until the caster tells you otherwise.....

Please share yours opinions....

Thanks.

I'd say that's overstepping the bounds of Suggestion, but the inclusion of a loophole for humor purposes makes it somewhat more acceptable :P

Interestingly enough, that particular comic has showcased both ends of the spectrum of Suggestion, with the opposite end being here:

That, in my opinion, was what Suggestion was meant to be (though the save DC should perhaps be even higher than the +2 for "very reasonable" suggestions if you can weave it in that well).

OK for humor purposes, but in a game can this pass as a realistic action...
And if it passes if the subject is hit or damaged is he free from continuing that action....
"Asking the creature to do some obviously harmful act automatically negates the effect of the spell."

I am siting on my hands and an enemy hits me or tries to kill me....
Is it reasonable that i would take my weapons and fight or continue to sit on may hands as he kills me....

we've had a BBEG suggest that the fighter goes and smells the flowers in the garden 3 floors up in the dungeon before... the only time that cleaning out the dungeon was harmful to the party.

Yes, as soon as the character in question is personally endangered, the adrenaline wave that accompanies the danger breaks the spell. That's how I've always read it...

Thanks for the explanation.....
I thought so...
Any other opinion is welcome....

=)

That spell had a more detailed description in 3.5 iirc, imo reasonable is being on the defensive, getting away of trouble, using the total defense action, etc.. self-defense against other creatures should be allowed, but it wouldn't break the spell, imo (not allowing self-defense would prolly break the spell)
