Archmage... gone or just trapped in a Magic Jar somewhere?

Greetings,
Anyone know why the Archmage didn't make the cut to Pathfinder? I can't imagine it was so world or system specific (like say the Red Wizard) that copyright infringement was an issue. I also thought it was a pretty cool class with some neat abilities that I would have loved to see what the guys at Paizo could have done with it.
Was it a choice to do away with 5 level PRC's perhaps?
Anything anyone knows would be awesome.
Thanks,
QGJ

Right so this again (twice this week). I would suggest using the search function of the boards here.

Try the following:

"No Archmage?"
"Missing Prestige Classes?"
"Why no dwarven defender?"
"Where is the Archmage?"

Or any variant there of, you'll find plenty of threads seeing as this comes up at least once every month or two.

It seems there's a Thread right now that handles this very question. You may want to check it out.

Yes, and I found that thread RIGHT after I posted this and spent time reading it.
Seriously, if you two weren't so viciously efficient with your responses I'd have been able to tack a big NEVERMIND onto my post.
CURSE YOUR SPEED YOU BOTH!
Best regards,
QGJ

NP, it's just funny to me that you being in the Top 8 of RPG ss 2010 you missed those threads. ;D Anyways congrats and have fun reading.

Aw, man, now I need to start a Thread asking for someone to cast Remove Curse for me.

I can't believe you would Curse me like that.

Abraham,

Clearly what talent I have is creative at the expense of all things technical ;)
Thanks for the tip. I'll be more diligent on my searches in the future.

Ahhhh...but I never SPECIFIED the type of Curse.

Maybe it's a good thing.
Might want to find a cleric anyway...

Yeah considering I'm sitting here with nothing beside my name I have little room to quip.

Well, if it's classified as a "curse", it will very rarely be a good thing. You don't exactly expect to be cursed with perfect health and a loving family. It's mostly the dying cattle, withering corn and shrivelling man-hood deal.

Maybe it goes the way of "you were a bad person and now must be punished". "You're a very, very bad boy. I curse you." "Oh, mama!"

Cursed with Awesome

On a side note ... an "Archmage" trapped in a jar might make for a hell of a quest item to find! One guy in all of world that knows how to do it ... and you have him trapped in a bottle.

Can you get him to teach you?

Will he destroy you when released?

Will he destroy the town? the kingdom? the world?

Who put him in there?

Will he live if released? Has time passed for him at all?

Lot of fun stuff to play with just from the title of this particular thread on the topic, so, although frequently discussed, oddly enough I find it a solid contribution!

:-D

The Archmage was last seen on the 42nd layer of the Abyss looking for the Barbarian's lost Profession. Or so I heard...

He has the Cleric Heavy Armor proficiency next on the "to find" list, so he will be gone for a while.

lol!

That's me on the tundra
That's me near the camp fire, I'm
Losing my profession
Trying to keep up with you
And I don't know if I can do it
Oh no, I've said too much
I haven't said enough
I thought that I heard you laughing
I thought that I heard you sing
I think I thought I saw you try
