When can the GMs expect access to these so we can start prepping?

Hopefully sooner then last year. I think last year we got them a week to 10 days before the Con.

At least this year we don't have to cram a 576 page rule book at the same time! ;)

Considering I have to release all four of these scenarios 3 weeks early for the con, that means I have to have them developed 7-to-8 weeks early ... we'll see. :-)

I shall try to make them available to the GMs as soon as I possibly can.

I know how you'll be spending your European vacation...

Yup. Not thinking about work AT ALL.

Josh quick question..

How is a GM supposed to prepare for the Classic game since the players choose the game?

Are you going to be selective on who GMs that and pick only ones that have GMd the majority of scenarios?

Just a quick, if somewhat naive question, are we supposed to bring our own PFS characters, or will they be provided for the scenarios?

Please bring your characters. AFAIK the only pregens are level one. Plus, I really like seeing the characer concepts everyone makes up for PFS.

There are level 4 and Level 7 Pregens Also, but IMO it is a much better experience with your Own Pcs and Mini.

Well chances plenty of us are familiar with many of those old mods and since the mods were designed to fun in a four hour slot, and have a five hour time span to run in chances are that if you have to wing it you would be in good shape.

If you have large concerns check the other message group to look through the concerns and tips for those mods. As the classics are the oldest, chances are they have the most notes.

Finally, don't bother to review "The Asmodeus Mirage" and "Blood at Dralkard Manor" as those Mods have been retired.

Chances are that you know some of those things already, but since you're wondering, chances are someone else is thinking the same thing.

I hate signing up for events at Gen Con.

Grand Lodge 4/5 5/55/5 ***

This is the worst online purchasing system EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After 30+ minutes, I can't even get the events page to load.

Every once in a while, it gives you a glimmer of hope and loads the events search. But then it dies to the error screen of death when you try to actually buy the tickets. Frustrating is not the word!!

Dark Archive 4/5

I was somehow able to get through the pandemonium and get my events purchased.

A few notes:
1. If you try and add your events and it gives a page error, it is still possible that your tickets made it to your shopping cart.
2. Events will stay in your shopping cart for 24 hours, so once they are in there, you have a reserved spot and can check out when the craziness dies down. This is only for the first day of registration. If get your events after the 11th, they only stay in your cart until you leave the website.
3. If you are having any technical issues, you can email them to customerservice@gencon.com

I was able to get all the PFS games registered I wanted on my first press at about 2:02 PM. Most still have a few seats open.

Playing in the AM, GMing in the PM.

Is "The Year of the Shadow Lodge" going to happen at PaizoCon as well as GenCon? I don't know whether to sign up at GenCOn or not.

...although after the hours I spent there today I think I'd rather pry out my intestines with a spoon than go back on the RUBI site :)

Yes, "Year of the Shadow Lodge" will be happening at Paizocon - or at least a playtest of it. HOWEVER...per the new replay rules, you may play it up to five times, provided you use different characters with a different faction each time. Also (WARNING - SOME SPECULATION AHEAD) I am under the impression that factions sit together at the same table and go through some actual separate encounters, so the experience will actually be different.

Dragnmoon wrote:

Yes. :-)

May I ask where you're getting this interpretation from?

I think you made posts implying the faction system is getting a minor update and information on the Specials a little too close together. Maybe in the "Phase 1 changes" thread? I'll look around and see if I can find it. Stupid memory, clearly it's going.

Because I'm playtesting the Year of Shadow Lodge special at Paizo Con, I'm going to allow folks to replay the special at Gen Con with a different character/faction. This is an exception to the rule. If you play the special at Gen Con, you won't be able to replay it later unless it's the only way to make a legal table.

Hey Josh, Have you thought about adding a Walk in Event at Gen Con to show off the Rules and also Explain the Society?

I am thinking something like using the Flip-Map mat Arena to have Gladiatorial/Arena battles maybe set in Tymon.

You can have a brief Setting inroduction and Scene introduction, with a battle set up to show off the new rules and characters, using Pre-Gen Characters. After the battle the GM can answer any questions about the PF game ad Society.

I am thinking something that would be an hour at a time, and set up for anyone to walk in to try.

Dark Archive 1/5

Josh may have reservations with this idea but I for one think its sexy.

On the first night of Gencon last year, in part to learn some new rule quirks, I ran 8 judges (each with a 7th level pregen) up against a CR 11 (3.5) encounter.

When the dust settled (all three rounds of it ...), instead of throwing another encounter for them to mop up I said 'Battle Royal, last one standing free for all - initiative please gentlemen and lady'.

The troupe of GMs looked at each other and universally took five foot steps and said a variant of 'hell's yeah!'.

FUN.

I think the arena map would rock. So would some other cool flip maps. And some Pathfinder minis of course. And some item cards. And Paizo dice ... etc.

They do have the "play a round or three" battle to learn the rules at their booth for fun and prizes, but you're talking PFS. I would worry that this doesn't highlight or showcase what society play is.

That's our delve. Which won't be in the booth this year, but will instead be near our org play area (which is maybe 30 feet from the booth). I'm not ready to reveal the delve info just yet.

Josh, my local gaming store wants me to run a Pathfinder event for them in June for Rpg day. I offered to run a PFS scenario with pre-gen characters but I think the store owner would prefer something that's shorter so I can demo the rules for everyone that's interested. Any suggestions? Should I run a dungeon delve instead of a scenario? I want to get the maximum number of people to experience Pathfinder since he said most of his customers don't understand that Pathfinder is 3.5 and need to see it for themselves.

Run the Free RPG Day adventure. You might not finish it, but Rob wrote a really good module there for showing off the rules.

Liberty's Edge

Last year was there a seminar or something that taught or showed a person how to make a character. Or was that just to convert them from Beta to Core?

Is there a new adventure this year? I'm hoping the owner gets the material early enough for me to look it over.

That was to convert from 3.5 to PRPG. We never ran PFS in the Alpha/Beta playtest.

This year, we will have two tables specifically set aside by HQ for char-gen and the HQ folks will be on hand (as well as free GMs) to help.

It's four months away but I've never been this excited about Gen Con. The whole getting to GM thing is exciting.

Is there any kind of Wed night get-together (having never done it before)?
