Rules Questions

I recently bought the Core Rule and I'm slowly going through it.
I have like a million questions, not sure if it's because I didn't read everything well or not.

Question 1: Charm Person spell. When the duration is over, does the victim of a Charm Person (who missed his save) know he was charmed? If yes does that mean he will probably be upset with the caster?

I think that's up to GM interpretation. There's nothing in the rules that says that they don't remember their actions during the time they were charmed, but also nothing that says their change in attitude is more than believing the caster to be a friend or ally. So they might be a little confused as to why they ever thought the caster's suggestions might be worth following, but I don't know if they'd necessarily be mad with the caster. It would depend on the specifics.

Liberty's Edge

Agreed, this is probably somewhat dependant on how the GM wants to play it, and also the specific situation.

The formerly charmed individual would remember their actions, and (depending on their intelligence) would probably realise they had been the victim of magic. How they feel about that probably depends on how they felt about the spellcaster before the charm, what they did while charmed, and whether anything happened during the period the spell was in effect to influence their attitude.

Its probably fair to say that most people would not take kindly to being manipulated, whether by magic or otherwise.

The Exchange

I'd say there's no reason for an increased change in attitude (aside from returning to the original attitude). I mean, I know plenty of people that I liked until all of a sudden they said something stupid that made me wonder why I was friends with them in the first place (but didn't make me want to kill them).

ThanX 4 the answers everyone!
I get it better now!

I guess the tricky part must be what happens when a player is charmed and how he acts. I guess it must be all about playing it well right?

I think you’ve hit it on the head.

I know plenty of people will disagree with this philosophy, but I’m of the opinion that not every possible situation that might arise in a roleplaying game should be or needs to be covered by a written rule – after all, it’s a roleplaying game, some things should just be worked out through roleplaying.
