Reth Kaskin
Reth leans over to Rhiannon, "Do you see that slight shimmering behind these people? I am not quite sure what it is but I cannot believe it is good. Do you wish to proceed forward or should we see how this situation plays itself out?" Reth moves to stand before Rhiannon (but not in front of Bull).
Honest Fineal
Fharalkakhad glances over at Reth and murmers to him, "This does not feel like just a few irate customers, Fineal. I sense someone is pulling the strings of this situation. Be cautious."
"Guess I'm just going to have to pull harder then." Fineal flashes his a smile.

"Saw something like that one the roof outside. Bit late to figure out what it is." Fineal then moves to the top of the stairs, ready to launch into his dance.

The elven investigator moves over to the stairs, to look out over the increasingly hostile crowd, loosening the longsword at his waist, but not drawing it.
Sense Motive 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12, does the crowd seem to be reacting to us of their own accord, or do they seem to be influenced by someone or something?

Fharalkakhad wrote:** spoiler omitted **Fharalkakhad keeps his face a stoic mask but inside his guts, a feeling of alarm, starts to take hold. He quickly motions to Liriel, and Illmanthonil to fall back towards the stairs.
Any sense of a particular individual who is the source of the tension, or who is the leader of this disturbance. Perception 1d20+5
Liriel takes the hint and moves back while opening the top of the scroll case containing the Sleep spell.

A man walks to you from the crowd. He is tall and well dressed in silken cloths of gold and rosy hue. There is a curved sword at his side. Slowly, he approaches the stairs, looking at the retreating Drow. "Boys and galls, you are swimming in dangerous waters. Methinks it would be best for you to just leave. There's the door."
Honest Fineal
Fineal quickly springs into action and walks up to the man, smiling. "Come on now my good man, no need to be making any vague threats. First of all just let me apologize for how we acted on the way in, our employer's a bit paranoid about getting her proper respects. You know how it is, can't say no to woman like that, especially when she's paying you." Fineal laughs at his own joke. "Anyway, how about we all just sit back down and have a drink before my coworkers get any more annoyed at the vague threats, eh?" Fineal gives his a predatory smile, but somehow it still seems trustworthy.
Diplomacy, hopefully won't be canceled out by the Intimidate check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27

The man in front of you ignores your companions. "Would you like for me to make more open threats? I can pay you as well. I want that whore and I will pass through you like a knife through the neck if I have to."

"Alright I get your point. Of course, I can't just let you up there and have your way with her, you understand. At least, not for free..." Fineal surreptitiously holds out his hand for the implied money.
Bluff, to make him think I'm going to actually let him up once he pays me: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15 At least he still needs to get a Sense Motive check above 15.

The man takes a long look at you Sense Motive 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 and just smiles. "You will regret this, boy. Mark my words, when you next time go to sleep, you will not wake up." Then he turns and walks away. The tension in the room is noticeably lighter.
Fharalkakhad
Fharalkakhad allows himself a small smile at the outrage of the flashily clad saleman. "I believe this may have been a feint to draw attention away from the actual goals of the unseen hand guiding events here." He stops for a moment, and then continues, "I am concerned about Rhiannon and Reth, they may be the true targets of this charade." As he hears the commotion, he nods to the rest of his group, as if proving his point.

Fineal stares at the man as he walks off, confused at this turn of events, and returns to the top of the stairs. "Alright, he threatened to slit my throat, offered to bribe me, then told me I'd die in my sleep and left. Any of you know what in Khyber's name just happened?"
"Odds are I'd say our dark elven friend has ..... a history here. I'd imagine that unlike us this is not her first trip to this lovely city. And that she has made some enemies."

Reth grimacing at Rhiannon's charge follows her towards the barn, hoping she (and by extension he) is not attacked. Reth is still holding his bow in one hand and an arrow in the other, notching the arrow may be seen as a hostile act and Reth does not want to provoke hostility.

My internet was down. Sorry guys. And the stable is in flames.
Sickle appears at the top of the steps. "You lot, come here." He leads you to the lavishly decorated second floor of the inn and to the gilded doors of a captain's suite. "Lady Morn is inside", he says. "I'm going to the common room to keep an eye on the things."
You enter the suite and find drow lady standing above the corpse of richly dressed dwarf. He was stabbed in the chest many times and now lies in a pool of his own blood. Lady Morn turns towards you and says: "This was our contact. Somebody murdered him and the map is missing. I need some of you to try to discretely find out anything useful. But no warforged - nobody will talk to them, or I would send Sickle."

Rhiannon and Reth enter the burning stables, fighting for breath. Screams and hissing of horses and lizards fill the air with strange cacophony. Stablehands, some of them warforged, are trying to douse the flames with bags of sand. But there is something strange about all that... Perception, please.
Honest Fineal
"Well, wasn't expecting this. Alright, if anyone down there knows anything about this I should be able to find out. They'll know that we're asking around about anyone who's come up here, but they won't know why we're asking you know what I mean? Course you do."
"Oh, and some idiot with a sword called you a whore and threatened to slit my throat then left. Figured you might want to know."
Illmanthonil Moorvare
"Very well," the elven investigator speaks softly to Fineal, walking towards the body slowly, "if you would ask questions downstairs, I would like to inspect the body."
Crouching down as he nears the dead dwarf, Illmanthonil inhales a slow breath through his nose and spends a few seconds looking at the body and the floor around it in silence before touching anything. Perception 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Once he is done with his initial observation, he goes on to thoroughly examine the body for any signs as to the identity of the killer. Heal 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16, Perception take 20 + 12 = 32.
Fharalkakhad
Fharalkakhad allows the elfin investigator to examine the body, as he was unable to determine anything about how the body met its end. He joins Fineal downstairs to assist the salesman in questioning the inns patrons.

"Whoever did this knew what they were doing," the elf says gravely, "the first attack was enough to kill our unfortunate contact, and it seems he didn't even get chance to defend himself. The rest of the wounds seem to be for the sole purpose of hiding the killers proficiency, and from the direction of the initial blow, it seems likely to be a halfling or gnome we are dealing with."
