Skill mastery

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Hello, are there other classes or PrCs that give skill mastery as the rogue ?

If yes, which ?

Two or all three of the prestige classes from the Pathfinder: Seeker of Secrets supplement provide (nasty) forms of skill mastery.

I'll have to get back to you on any others, memory's a bit fuzzy at the moment, although check the Bard's class features as I believe that they get something similar.

Scarab Sages

The advanced rogue talent Skill Mastery allows you to take 10 on a skill check (for certain skills) even if stress or distractions would normally keep you from doing so.

Per the skill description, you cannot take 10 on a Use Magic Device check.

On the one hand, one could argue that "stress or distractions" are not the source of the ban against taking 10. However, the word "even" implies that these are not the ONLY circumstances which you can ignore, but rather an extreme.

Can you select Use Magic Device as one of your skills for Skill Mastery? (If you did, would it do any good?)

Yes, I over-think this kinda thing. Thanks!

Bard 19 gets skill mastery with ALL skills.

Given the fact that UMD is one of said "all skills," I don't see why a rogue couldn't select it as one of his piddly 3 + int skills that he masters.

Does that mean you can take 10 on one of your chosen skills in combat? If so, Champion of Irori+Snake Style's feats seems snazzy.

The archaeologist bard can take it as an advanced rogue talent at level 12. Other than the level 19 bard I think that's it.
