Lilia had listened to the group while attempting to comfort Devarro. "Devarro, I know this isn't the best time, but we need you to focus for a moment. Do you know anything about this Tenzekil, like where we could find him? Do you know how the Queen was improsoned or how she could have had someone break her out, so to speak? Is ther eanything else about the Fellnight Realm you haven't told us? Its important we know everything you can think of that might help us either re-bind heror defeat her."
DM JZ
"I know little about the Queen and even less about Tenzekil. The fey court holds their secrets closely, even from friends such as I. But no matter, I shall ask the forest directly."
For a long while the druid chants and traces mystic runes in the air. His eyes turn milky white as he descends into a trance.
"To the north there are three waterfalls and a pool in between them. Enchanted stones are hidden in a cave behind the northernmost fall. These stones have been creating the great fog which has been hiding the Queen's gathering army. I cannot see what exactly is guarding the stones; the Queen has successfully hidden them from my sight."

"So, our choices lie before us." Janus hunches down and takes out his pipe. Stuffing it with tobacco he says. "Travel back and find Lumi." Lights his pipe and takes a puff. "Stay, and wait for the forest elders or a call from this wretched queen." *puff* "Or go north and search out the source of this unnatural fog."
Looking at his companions, "I realy don't think there is much of a choice. I'd rater not backtrack, and am even lother to wait. I say we go north and take away an atvantage our enemy has. If the fey want to reach us, they'll know where we are."
Lilia Stinisen
"I agree with Janus. We should head north and investigate those stones.." Lilia turns to Devarro "Do you know what we need to do wtiht he stones when we find them? Should we destroy them, hide them, or bring them with for the forest elders to inspect?"
DM JZ
"Thank you, young man. I thank all of you for releasing me from that nightmare. Had you not arrived, the wisp would have soon made me jump into the pit as well. But do not go yet, for the nighttime forest can be just as dangerous as Rhoswen. Stay here, rest, and in the morning you'll be ready to fight again."
Vinroot fills in the woeful pit. It takes only a few scoops of dirt with his great, knobby hands to finish the task.
Thediar
Thediar, too, is less than pleased with the suggestion that we take our ease the rest of the night. "Vinroot, could you take us there presently?"
JZ, I never mentioned the time at which Thediar's spell slots renew. The default for clerics is dawn, but I imagine that Thediar's renew at the stroke of midnight.

"Nope. Like Devarro says, it's wayyy to dangerous to go tramping around in the dark. Wait 'til tomorrow, will ya?"
Gotcha.
DM JZ
Succored by Devarro's food and protected by Ylera's spell, the night passes uneventfully ...
Next day Vinroot carries the heroes north along the creek, which grows wider and faster upstream. Eventually, the banks level off into a small pool filled with sharp boulders at the base of a fifty-foot waterfall.
"Huh, I'm not going up there," says Vinroot. "Don't want to fall and break my trunk."
Lilia Stinisen
Lilia casts Extended Mage Armor fearing the waterfall might be unguarded.
"Any ideas on getting down there safely? I can cast a spell to give some of us the power of flight which might be the easiest way?" she suggests to the group.

"Flight might not be the problem. In settings like these usually what we're looking for tends to be behind the waterfall. Perhaps if we look about we might find a means to get there." Ylera casts Extended Mage Armor and Extended False Life

"Does anyone's magic allow her to scry behind the waterfall without necessarily walking back there, to check what lies ahead?"
Lilia Stinisen
"Unfortunately, scrying is beyond my abilities. I can turn someone invisible if they want to go in, and look for the rocks without being seen," Lilia offered hopefully.
Thediar
Thediar smiles and turns to Janus. "If only we had somebody stealthy. And sneaky. And good at scouting. Who could look in there when invisible and not make any noise.
"Or, we could just bowl our way in there, trash anything guarding the fog apparatus, and discomboble it."
Janus Fleetshade

*chuckles* "Not so subtle hints my friends! More solemly "But I think I spotted the outlines of a large humanoid by the center of the pool. Before I go in, can anyone think of what might live in a lake such as this?
JZ:
Lilia Stinisen
Just before getting to the base of the waterfall, Lilia will cast Fly on herself.
"Let's be off then. I've never hiked around a waterfall before this should be neat," the halfling says excitedly. "Antone need a casting of Fly or Invisibility before we get started?"
Lilia Stinisen
Put Lilia in the middle, maybe third in order. She will walk with the rest of the party, until (if) flight becomes necessary.
Janus Fleetshade
|
Janus works best in ranged but he's a good front for scouting. So I guess he's first? I'll accept the invisibility spell and head on up first.
With an arrow nocked on his bow, Janus heads up the stone steps as quickly and quietly as he can, eyes darting about looking for danger.
Climb? 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Stealth 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21 + invisibility
Perception 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25 + favored enemy
Lilia Stinisen
"We'd better let Janus scout a bit ahead. No reason to ruin his element of surprise," she says after finishing her invisibility spell and the ranger vanished from sight.
DM JZ
Janus traverses an old overgrown game trail which rises along the steep banks of the creek. Though choked with boulders and water-carved rocks, he finds the way safe and beckons his friends to join him. Vinroot chooses to stay behind.
Above, the party discovers a large pool fed by dual waterfalls descending from sheer cliffs above. The pool seems quite deep, with no bottom discernible from the shoreline. Every few seconds a large swell of mist rises from the pool, obscuring all sight before slowly drifting into the forest.
Ylera
"Hmmm...the druid said the stones are in a cave behind the northern falls. We need to get across this water somehow...unless Janus can find a safer way."
"When a waterfall was mentioned yesterday, I prepared a specific charm which may be of use. I can cast a spell of Water Walking which should give us the ability to traverse water as if it were land for just over an hour's time from the casting."
