Despite himself, Thediar breaks into aslight grin, and hisa sparkle comes into his eyes. A wedding is welcome reward for a life of daring, but the daring itself, ah, now that's what makes a day worth living!
Now, let's see. A bee swarm. He thinks back to that corrupt temple mound of Callista the company fought last autumn ...
If there's an area we want the swarm to avoid, like an otherwise-unprotected entrance to a building where a great many people are, then Thediar will cast wind wall to limit the bees' movement.
If that's not an obvious choice, he'll channel negative energy into the heart of the swarm, using Selective Channeling to avoid killing the wedding party.
Damage:4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 4) = 15, Will save, DC 18, for half.

Unsure where the frightened guests are to take shelter, Thediar channels the power of shadow at the enraged swarm.
Will save 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Janus yells "GET INTO THE TEMPLE PEOPLE! GET INSIDE!" but they are too frightened to take heed. Even as the ranger is positioning himself, he is improvising a flaming oil weapon.
Strangely, it is the diminutive Lilia who catches everyone's attention. From her perch on a bench, the she yells at the top of her lungs, "Everyone get in the temple! Quickly!"
Sarek tries to detect the taint of evil among the frenzied creatures, but finds none.
Lilia Stinisen
JZ, if the wedding goers are past the swarm, and Lilia has a clean shot at the swarm, she will cast Scorching Ray at it. If not, she will double move to get down from the bench and move north so that she might have a clear shot next round.
If Lilia casts Scorching Ray, attack rolls are as follows:
Ray One 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Damage Ray one 4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 3, 3) = 13
Ray Two 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Damage Ray Two 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 3, 3) = 13
DM JZ
Cursing to himself, Janus works furiously with the cloth and oil. "come on, come on, come on!" he mutters as he tries to set the oil aflame.
Not sure if I should go for an improveised bomb or wrap the cloth around my sword for an improvised torch? cant seem to find any rules for it on the srd.
I would suggest the torch.
Lilia Stinisen
Cursing to herself, Lilia sees the throng of people were blocking any line of sight she might have to the swarm. She jumps down from the bench and moves toward the gazebo, trying to remove as much interference as possible from the equation.
Move me as far north in front of the gazebo this round as I can get...double move.
Thediar
This seems like the right time for a wind wall, allowing the wedding guests sanctuary in the temple, but preventing the bee swarm from following.
Thediar looks around at the edges of the park. Swarms like this are either magical or just an element of nature. Given the ... precise timing of this attack, Thediar is guessing that it's a magical attack, directed by someone. And if that's the case, the swarm's master might decide to be within line of sight, either to direct the swarm tactically, or to get personal satisfaction from the chaos. So, Thediar is looking around.
DM JZ
The bee swarm tries to follow the fleeing crowd into the chapel but is briskly repulsed by Thediar's wall of wind. Confused, it stays where it is for the time being. Thediar looks but cannot see the cowardly culprit, who is either hiding or not nearby.
With sword, cloth and oil, Janus improvises a torch. The bees wizzing about stay clear away from the ranger and his flaming brand.
Lilia vaults over the benches and through the legs of running guests. Now she has a much more direct vantage point to the swarm.
Heedless of his own safety, the brave Sarek charges the swarm, yelling and swinging his flail.
Round 3 begins. Everyone may post

With a grim face, Janus surveis the wedding grounds. Taking in the battle field, trying to discern if someone should be in dire need. Thinking along the same lines as Thediar, Janus wonders where the swarm came from and what could have riled them so.
perception 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Seeing Sarek rushing into danger, he knows he must act quickly. Janus bends down and grabs a pinch og dirt, rubbing it on his boots he feel the power of the earth make his feet lighter. With that familiar feeling of danger in his bely he rushes to Sareks side hoping to stave off the swarm before it overwhelms him.
Janus casts Longstrider then moves 1sq east, 1sq north-east, 2sq north then 3sq north-east. Ending up next to Sarek waving the torch to hold the swarm back
Sarek Tull
Sarek tries to look past the swarm to see if all of the wedding goers are safely inside the chapel. I better keep this up, so the bees don't follow them inside the chapel., he thinks.
Swinging his flail around over his head, he gives a mighty shout and smashes it into the heart of the swarm.

I don't think I can do damage to the swarm with my weapon, but hopefully this will keep the swarm focused on me.
Lilia Stinisen
"Hey guys, you're in my way!" Lilia yells as the paladin and ranger stride directly into her line of sight. Although partially obscured, she could see enough of the swarm to take a shot at it with her spell. She says a couple of magic words and two blasts of flame shoot toward the swarm from her fingers.
Can I use my ray rolls for attack and damage from my 12:42 pm post yesterday? They would each be reduced by 4 for my firing into melee. If this isn't okay, let me know and I will make a new post with the new rolls. Thanks.

During the third round, Thediar asks Gozreh for another open gate to the Negative Plane, tothe place where life-energies do when a person dies. O Gozreh, collapse these insects' natural life spans, and wither this swarm of age, I pray you.

Janus carefully surveys the battlefield. Many of the guests have made it into the chapel and are waiting for a few more to arrive before shutting the doors. Others have sought refuge in the shallow waters of the creek. To the south, one group has even collapsed the pavilion on themselves for shelter.
Mystery roll 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Janus spots three short figures hiding in the bushes behind the gazebo.
Lilia sends two blasts of arcane fire unerringly into the swarm. Great gouts of burning insects are torn from the assemblage. The swarm dissolves and is no more. The remaining bees scatter, returning to the forest.
Combat is now over.

"I think we're alright, praise Sherlyn" replies the priestess, her elegant face now swollen by bee stings.
The gnomes that Janus calls to emerge from the bushes, to reveal that they are not gnomes at all!
The murderous-looking humanoids curse Janus in an alien tongue, then begin to physically enlarge to fully twice their height. They become Large sized.
A shrill, hateful voice booms from overhead. But there is nothing but air above.
“Fools! You shall rue the day you shunned my pallid condition and laughed at my losses! Know your doom has come! When Queen Rhoswen arrives, all will perish—you will choke upon her mist, die by her thorns, and fall before her armies! May you forever suffer the curses of the Fellnight fey! And I, Tenzekil shall have his revenge on you all!”
Lilia, you recgonize the voice as Tenzekil's.
A wall of thorns spring up around the heroes, surrounding them and the townsfolk in the chapel. At the same time, the pale giants move forward, heedless of the barrier.
The wall is 10' tall and 5' deep.

1) Does Thediar recognize the alien tongue?
2) Or who "Queen Rhoswen" might be?3) Or "fellnight fey"?
I hadn't selected spells for Thediar yet. Does he currently have wall of thorns prepared, and could he use it to counterspell?

Do swarms make attack rolls in Pathfinder?
Oops, sorry! I missed that in the rules. Let's say Janus and Sarek were lucky enough to avoid any stings.

2) Or who "Queen Rhoswen" might be?
3) Or "fellnight fey"?I hadn't selected spells for Thediar yet. Does he currently have wall of thorns prepared, and could he use it to counterspell?
1)The language is Sylvan. The spriggan said some rude things about Janus' parentage.
2)Nobody in the party knows.3)Ditto.
Since I mistakenly gave Janus and Sarek a pass with the swarm damage, it's only fair that I give one to you as well. Go ahead and assume you have wall of thorns.

Janus takes a good look at the enemy and recognizes them as spriggan, a fell folk among the fey. Their white pallor is not natural to the spriggan, nor is the webwork of thorned branches sprouting from their flesh. This he tells to his comrades as he prepares to aim his bow.
Thediar finally notices the gnome known as Tenzekil, almost hidden among the bushes behind the spriggans. Thediar sees that Tenzekil is weaving a spell and recognizes the hand-motions belonging to the wall of thorns conjuration. Tenzekil launches into a counterspell. The thorns turn into dust even as they rise out of the ground.

The lead spriggan stomps towards Sarek. The paladin is not intimidated and swings twice, bringing the creature crashing down. As it dies it shrinks, reverting to its small size.

Slowly, cautiously, the wedding guests emerge from their places of hiding. Virtually everyone has suffered at least a few bee-stings, and it is just about now that those stings begin to truly itch and burn. Here and there, the few bees that still linger are mercilessly chased down and swatted by angry townsfolk. Children cry as they are led home by their grumpy parents.
Elyin emerges with Kailah from the forest. His wedding finery is bloodied and he carries one of the strangely-fashioned battle axes the spriggans wielded.
"I'm sorry I wasn't around to help," Elyin says. "I was trying to get Kailah out of here when we got ambushed. I had to fight bare-handed, which isn't as fun as it sounds. It's a lucky thing you were here to protect the guests, otherwise somebody would really have gotten hurt."
Lilia Stinisen
Lilia lands and trots over to talk to Elyin and her friends. "Something strange is definitely happening. I saw a crow hightailing it out of here heading west. Any idea what might be in that direction, Elyin? Also, you had better either get everyone out of here really quickly, or keep them all here together, because some sort of mist appears to be enveloping the land from every direction. I've never seen anything like it."
Doubt it will help, but let me try a knowledge arcana on either the crow (maybe to determine if it was a familiar) or on the mist.
