Well, here's the place to discuss my main Kingmaker game (I haven't put up the actual thread in the main PbP forum, and won't until the game actually starts). For now, work out your various character antebellum relationships, provide detail on your characters, and give me a feel for how your characters act and think.
More to follow...

Heaven's Agent |

Greets folks, I'm looking forward to playing in this game.
I'll get to work on actually creating the character's stats, but for now here's the concept I submitted to Uriel. The character still lack a name.
Now seen as elders of their community in the Gronzi Forest, [Name]'s parents became mentally removed from the lives of those around them, their minds often wandering to musings about the First World. They rarely even recognized [Name] as their son, and even when they did they were unable to show interest in the young gnome. When he asked others of the community about his parents, he was told that their untimely Bleaching was the result of a curse, that one of his ancestors had angered a queen of the First World during an exploration of what's now the Stolen Lands. The members of his family all seemed to be more susceptible to the effects of the Bleaching than others, and rather than perish due to the affliction a disproportionate number of them became bleachlings. At first [Name] didn't believe these accounts, considering them to be nothing more than rumor. That changed when an older cousin led him to a hidden grove, home to six generations of his family line, all in the same state as his parents.
[Name] became determined that he would not share the same fate as his ancestors. He took up weaponsmithing in an effort to bind himself to Golarion, believing that working with the very minerals that made up the world would better attune him to the planet itself. His trade led him to begin venerating Gorum, and with the worship of the Lord in Iron came a lust for battle. [Name] proved more likely to rush into potential danger than others of his race, constantly in search on new experiences in order to keep his body and mind vibrant. Despite his efforts, however, it wasn't long before he witnessed signs in himself that the Bleaching was still a threat. Though the affliction's effects had not begun to effect his physical prowess or mental ability, his vibrant orange hair developed streaks of gray, and his eyes changed from a bright gold to a silvery white.
Realizing the home he had known since birth offered insufficient experiences to stave off his deterioration, [Name] left the Gronzi Forest in search of new opportunities in surrounding Brevoy. Originally intending to offer his ability as a warrior to one of the factions of the conflict brewing in the region, his objectives changed when he heard rumors of an expedition to the Stolen Lands. The gnome reasoned that the exploration and settlement of this wild region to the south would offer even more challenges than could be found on a traditional battlefield. In addition, [Name] couldn't help but consider the possibility of locating the fey that had originally placed the curse on his family, and forcing her to remove it. Having decided upon his new path, the gnome set off to volunteer for the effort being organized by Rostland.

Hey guys I have most my stats done but really need to flesh out his back ground. Glade to see you made it HA,
Karth tallstag
background
Karth was born in the city of Restov, his father was a guard and his mother a hedgewizard. H spent his childhood surrounded by tells of daring swordplay and the flow of magic. He spent long practice with the sword as a youth embracing the dueling culture of his homeland and absorbing the tells of Baron Sirian Aldori with a rabid hunger. Still his mothers influence could not be denied as magic seem to flow for him, it seemed to be in his very blood. This power he found could effect people, encouraging them and bolstering confidence as he spent his youth around soldiers and guardsmen, he knew the effects such things could have on troops and he embraced it.
Karths longs to prove himself both as a swordsmen and a leader of men to test himself and his skill with the blade. The expedition to Greenbelt seemed to be a sign for the gods that his time was coming. Such an expedition would need skilled swordsmen and Karth feels he can do some good for such an expedition. He seems himself as a Marshal, councilor or general and one day inspires to be a capable leader of men
Ok so we have a Gnome barbarian and a human militant bard so far

A few questions
1: do we get two traits? one being a campaign one?
2: 20 point buy correct?
3: Average starting gold with one free masterwork weapon?
Not sure any of that really counts as a "question", punctuation notwithstanding, but yes. That is all correct.
As for number 1, that is how I normally houserule traits, but I don't think I said that before, so don't worry if your character is built without a campaign trait.

![]() |

"Syndessa Shadestalker at your service."
Now THAT is a good idea. Frankly, all the players should make an alias for the game, with your character sheet included. I don't know if that's standard for PbP's, but it is a great idea.

seekerofshadowlight |

yeah it is standard for PBp, here anyhow. I have already done so posted in the other thread as such as well. :) Gm's often have an alt ID for gming as well. I have one for my games whch i put player info into such as XP Init , hp and houserules and other info the plays may need to look at

Thumparr Ironfist |

Howdy folks - I'm "hedgeknight" on the boards.
Here is my character:
Thumparr Ironfist
Male Dwarven Fighter
Background:
No one likes a good fight like Thumparr Ironfist. In fact, that is the reason he is no longer welcome in his home town of Brunderton, or in any of the other Dwarven settlements in and around the Icerime Peaks.
Seems he was too busy brawling and not busy enough smelting copper ore like the rest of his family and friends. Going into the "family business" just didn't sit well with the young Dwarf and he took out his frustrations on anyone who pissed him off. He just felt he was born for something different, something...better.
So, after a heated exchange with his Ma and Da, he decided to set out and see what life outside a hole in the ground had to offer. Turns out, it has a whole hell of a lot to offer!
He traveled by river to New Stetven, and then booked passage on a ship crossing Lake Reykal to Silverhall, before finally heading across country in a merchant caravan to Brevoy. He's only been in town about a month and he's running short on coin; he has to find some kind of work soon or he'll be living in the streets.
He's already been in a scrap or two but he's only been thrown out of one bar...so far.
But, he likes it in Brevoy, even if there are rumblings about the swordlords having plans of sticking it to the Issians…something that makes him grin over a pint of ale. He figures it’s a matter of time before things get heated, so there's nowhere else in Golarion that he'd rather be than right here, right now! Something big is about to happen and he's gonna get in on it...or die trying.

seekerofshadowlight |

we are very combat heavy..which is neat. Also I have 1 skill left to spend and was trying to see what needed covered. But maybe something along the lines of knowledge tactics might fit as well.
Anyone have any suggestions? So far I have Diplomacy +7 ,Sense motive+5 Perception +4 Preform [oratory} +7 Know geography +6 Know local +6 Acrobatics +6

Orin Ro |

A slight change from my original submission.
Orphaned at the age of 6, when Chelaxian slavers attacked his border village in an attempt to "repatriate" their former countrymen. Told to hide until the "bad men" were gone, Orin ran into the woods and waited. Orin was found the next morning amid the smoldering ruins, huddled over the bodies of his human father and elven mother, by an old forester who had seen the smoke.
The old man, knowing that the young boy would never survive on his own, decided to adopt him and raise him as his own, teaching him woodcraft and other skills he would need to survive in the wilds.
Life was good for a time as Orin and his "father" hunted wild game and lived off the land. As the young boy grew into adulthood Orin would often hear tales from passing merchants of the river kingdoms where a man could forget about his past and make his destiny his own.
One day while Orin and his adopted father were out hunting they came upon a small caravan being attacked by bandits. Together with the last remaining caravan guard they managed to kill several of the brigands while the others fled screaming dire threats of the "Forest Kings" revenge. After safely escorting the caravan to a nearby village Orin and his father returned to their cabin in the woods. A week later when returning from a hunt Orin noticed smoke rising from the clearing where his home was, too much smoke.
Rushing home Orin discovered his fathers lifeless body pierced by a half dozen arrows and the cabin aflame. After extinguishing the fire Orin carried the old mans body into the cabin and laid him on his bed. Reigniting the cabin, this time as a funeral pyre, Orin took his fathers bow and waited until the fire had died out.
With a tear in his eye Orin smeared his face with the soot and ahses of his former life and set out to avenge his second fathers death at the hands of bandits. Throughout the next year Orin hunted down those responsible, culminating in the death of the so-called "King of the Forest". Remebering the stories the merchants had told Orin made his way to the river kingdoms and a new life stopping to help those in need and puting paid to those who would prey upon the weak and helpless.

Killian |

Me too I guess another rogue.... do we need a different class?? Im flexable as long as Uriel says its ok. FYI I will have it posted Sunday eve. busy work day today.
can some one show how to do the BBCode ?? especially the spoiler this is my first foray into the Pbp arena so Im a noob.

![]() |

I think that we appear to be lacking in the divine and arcane magic departments, if you'd like to take up a role such as that.
Also, about the bbcodes, right below the box which you write your post in, there's a thing that says "BBCode tags you can use:" then there's a spoiler tag beside it. Within that spoiler contains a cornucopia of the things you are looking for.

seekerofshadowlight |

sure. if ya notice when you post there will be a line under the text bos that says "BBcode tages you can use" and a small "show" spoiler click it and the code will drop down
basically out of character text is [ ooc] then end with [/ ooc] but spaced together like (ooc) you text here (/ooc)
spoilers are the same way spoiler in brackets [] with the end being [/spoiler ]
like so (spoiler) your text [/spoiler)
You can also make an profile for your pc and you will have a "post as" option under the text box

seekerofshadowlight |

I do wish there were some combat spells on the bards list. I mean would it have killed em to throw in a burning hands or shocking grasp an inflict light wounds or something? I would so love just a few combat spells.
Sigh, we work with what we have

If anyone is interested an likes the look of Syndessa's Profile, I have a blank sheet saved as a Word Document Template with the BBCode already added in. As you may see when you look at my Profile, I play/have played in a lot of PbPs (every single one of my Aliases is a Character).
Just send me an e-mail to flash_cxxi@hotmail.com with the Subject PbP Template and I'll e-mail it to you (specify whether you want .doc or .docx format). :D

Drop some ranks into Use Magic Device, and let the offensive magics fly; if given the opportunity, that one skill can make up for a bard's lack of arcane firepower.

Den Sarment |

Den Sarment can heal. A little. But please remember that Erastil reveres all nature and should you not then that healing may falter for you....I am sorry for that but nurturing the Land matters.
And I'm pleased to see so many familiar and unfamiliar "faces" in this game.
Now back to inking in the druid.
Cheers

Just for you, Cali, no I haven't been to any cons for a while, apart from PaizoconUK. It's a shame because I loved that half-orc druid and Lihr was the best.
thanks.
Well, there have been rumours circulating about a possible joint PFS/Lihr weekend... if anything materialises I'll let you know.

CG Male gnome barbarian:The childhood of a gnome is far from normal in the eyes of other races. family units are barely cohesive, if that, and the responsibility of raising the next generation falls to the community in general. I think Uriel said he was accepting seven players...right,Uriel?
Well...
That was my original intention, yes. I figured more than that not only becomes unbalancing, but also means more fighting over Leadership roles, and more confusion on the boards.
Since, however, let in a few extras. My thinking is first: I hate to turn away players; Second: I realize that players DO drop out as the game progresses, and we will have a delay until the game even STARTS, let alone gets going; Third: It would seem to work better in this campaign, then in a lot of others.
Before you think I've gone completely off my nut, though, I DO have a plan. Coming soon in another post.

Den Sarment |

Den is pretty much ready for inspection, Uriel. I have taken the liberty of giveing him the domain of community from Erastil's portfolio instead of the one of the more normal ones like fire or water. But it fits with my druid as a member of a farming community. Let me know if that choice is a problem.
Also I took a non-combat horse from his Pioneer trait.
Cheers

** spoiler omitted **...
Since we're both playing gnomes from the Gronzi Forest, our characters might know each other... though given his feelings about the bleaching, [name] might not be very comfortable around Fenna.

Human Bard "Karth Tallstag" as played by seekerofshadowlight
Human Druid "Den Sarment" as played by French Wolf
Now, everyone has checked into the board, but could everyone please send me an email with your *pre-game* final build? We'll have to tweak it once I get the adventure, but with this many players, names, and aliases it gets kind of complicated keeping track, and I need to build my database.
When you send it to me (and I don't care about the format. Text, pdf, doc, or even pasted into an email) please write the subject as:
"[Character Name] [Message Board name (NOT alias)] FINAL"
Thanks. As it stands now I have a weird mish-mash of real names, character names and board names, and I'm starting to get a little confused.

Works for me. The only inherent conflict in that is a Druid wouldn't support a rapidly growing community at the expense of nature. In other words, you would be a firm believer in "sustainable growth", which may come into conflict with your fellow empire builders, down the line...
I have no issue with your horse.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that this is a cut and paste from my last PC. So the background will undergo a major overhaul before I send the whole thing to you, uriel.
Currently playing hide and seek round the flat with my son so I'm a bit busy, especially with the Grand Prix on in the background. Probably finish this sometime towards evening.

I'm reminded of Leslie Nielsen in airplane, when he kept opening the door to the cockpit, and saying "Good luck, and we're all counting on you,"

Actually that's a pretty good idea. I hadn't thought of puting it into Word, I've just been copying and pasting from my original and then editing it to fit the new character.
Thanks for the offer, though. I'm more comfortable with the one I use.

Matius Drake |

Profile Completed.
I certainly don't want to be rude Uriel, and of course you can do this anyway you'd like-It being your game and all I'm just happy to participate.
That being said, I think you might be over-thinking some things.
For one, is all this e-mail run around really necessary?
I mean, the characters are complete(or getting there) under their respective aliases and simply looking at them here in their preferred format is probably easier than E-mailing back and forth. And i think any discussions about changes can be handled a lot easier here, amongst the rest of the party- Such is the purpose of the discussion thread no?
Again, not trying to hate on your method or discourage you in any way, Just offering my opinion on the matter, since you're new to the realms of play by posts.
