Your skill with your favored weapon can frighten enemies.
Prerequisite: Weapon Focus, proficiency with the selected weapon.
Benefit: While wielding the weapon in which you have Weapon Focus, you can perform a bewildering show of prowess as a full-round action. Make an Intimidate check to demoralize all foes within 30 feet who can see your display.
Demoralize
You can use this skill to cause your opponents to become shaken for a number of rounds. The DC of this check is equal to 10 + the target's Hit Dice + the target's Wisdom modifier. If you are successful, the target is shaken for one round. This duration increases by 1 round for every 5 by which you beat the DC. You can only threaten opponents in this way if they are within 30 feet and can clearly see and hear you.

I am trying to figure out why I would take the feat if I could just use the skill check. The feat does not give bonuses, nor does it give any duration, which leads me to belive I should use the Intimidate timing of 1 round +1 round/5 above DC.
Can someone help me in figuring this out? Maybe there is an errata I missed?
Thanks

Intimidate is one foe, Dazzling Display is all foes within 30ft. That's the major benefit.

The feat allows you to demoralize instead of just make the enemy shaken.
I can find the shaken on conditions, I cannot find demoralize. (I assumed it was just the title of the skill necessary to facilitate the feat).
But thanks, I think the thing I missed was the diffrence in 1 target and all targets .. thanks again.

Resurrecting an old thread!
Okay, so you use Dirge to make opponents shaken, and then dazzling display to cause them to become frightened and run away. Let's say the intimidate roll means they are going to run for 4 rounds.
My question is about the relationship between the duration of the frightened condition, and the duration of the dirge.
Dirge says "The effect persists for as long as the enemy is within 30 feet and the bard continues his performance."
Intimidate says "the target is shaken for 1 round. This duration increases by 1 round for every 5 by which you beat the DC. You can only threaten opponents in this way if they are within 30 feet and can clearly see and hear you."
The dirge is a necessary set up for the frightening intimidate roll, but does it need to continue for the four rounds they are running away, or can you stop singing?
Will stopping the dirge stop their being frightened?
Thanks!
