Worg vs Wolf

I just noticed as I was perusing the entries for Worg and Wolf in my copy of the Bestiary and noticed that for some reason the Worg is slower than the Wolf. My initial reaction was, wait that can't be right. So I hopped on my laptop and opened by PDF to see if it confirmed, and lo it's the same there as in the print. I wonder if it was done that way for a reason or if it was just a mistake. It doesn't seem like the Worg who is essentially an evil and intelligent wolf to be slower than his less intelligent kin. If I'm off my rocker please tell me so it just struck me as odd.

You know.. that probably is a mistake. 3.5 Worgs moved 50 ft. as well. I could see a few explanations, but none that are convincing.

Sadly, with sentience come contemplation and second guessing.

"Ew, what did I almost step on?"

"Those rocks look really cold."

"I bet that gonna be too hot to stand on."

"Do I look funny when I run?"

I wasn't aware of the correlation between speed and Intelligence. Cheetahs must be geniuses!

:)

I find the CR difference between riding dogs and wolves interesting as well... riding dogs have nearly identical stats to wolves (only differences are that a riding dog is stronger and thus has a slightly better chance to hit and does a little more damage when it does hit, and a wolf is a little bit faster) yet the riding dog is CR 1/2 and the wolf is CR 1

My theory is that Worgs are just a lot bulkier, and thus move slower. It may also just be an error, like that fact that they don't get Language: Worg, but Barghests do.

Riding dogs don't get trip, do they?

I noticed that too a few weeks back while scouring the books for new languages for my linguist skill.

[b]Melee[b/] Bite +3 (1d6+3 plus trip)

although in my previous post I missed the fact that wolves have AC 14 rather then 13 though

so Wolves have +10' of movement and +1 AC vs. a riding dogs additional +1 to hit and +2 damage.

The weirdest thing of all is what happens when worlves and worgs mate:

They get weird faces and speak a made-up language.

Liberty's Edge

ugh. Can someone slap KaeYoss upside the head for me?

Good to know I wasn't the only one thinking of that.
