My boss is trying to ruin my birthday. Had an email from him waiting for me this morning that he wants me to try and attend a two day conference in Norfolk that starts tomorrow.

Luckily, this may not happen for various reasons, among which are:

- I don't know the location (yet).
- I'm already kind sick (got a cold).
- For this particular conference, they usually require security clearance forms and attendance confirmation no later than a week in advance.

So, I'm keeping my finger crossed that my attending the meeting will be next to impossible.

Start work in a little over 5 hours so going to bed very soon.

Caught up, so Have Fun All.

Ha ha!!! I don't have to go to the conference!!! Turns out, the thing is actually in San Diego this year. So I'd have to some pretzel like twists in order to make it - put in orders, have them approved, take a taxi home, pack, get to the airport, etc. That would be assuming I could get a last minute flight for a price that wasn't outrageously insane. So my boss said not to bother. Huzzah!!

Now I can stay home and get birthday presents and have ice cream instead. And Popeyes! Oh yes, there will be Popeyes!

Ice cream and Popeyes does not sound like a good combination.

Congrats on dodging the conference bullet.

Good morning, all. What did I miss?

Morning all!

cranky morning post

I'm sending a hug your way Lynora. I hope your day gets better.

Gooooooooooood morning Fawlty Towerszszszsszszszzashzaszsaszsa-la-ding-dong.

Yeah. Too much coffee post. But it doesn't matter because yesterday went so frakkin' well, I can hardly contain myself. I put money down on the new bike yesterday and I also showed Keith(bike guy) the pics for the setup I wanted. He ended up being quite familiar with it(he does run a bike shop after all) and will be ordering a new bike(they're out of models in the store) for me sometime next week. Best part is that I'll be able to see her while they're putting her together and stuff even though I haven't paid off the whole thing! I'm still super excited about that. I also had a bit of a retail therapy day when I discovered that Final Fantasy 4, 5, and 6(before the series hit the crapper with FF7 ;-D ) for GBA were on sale for ridiculously low prices at local Gamestops. I stopped to pick up 4 and 5 and ran into a VERY old friend from martial arts who I had not seen in YEARS. He's going grey prematurely, but his body is like a rock. He does MMA and jujutsu now, which apparently makes his grapple-happy russian spirit content. He's a bit frustrated that he can't find any good local tournaments for jujutsu, and I suggested he slide over into judo for that purpose, but he scoffed at that idea. Oh well...

Today's starting off on a wonderful note as well. Aside from a much-needed meeting at the second job, I actually WALKED to work today!!!! I FINALLY get to check off the "Exercise" box on my daily to do list. It was only a couple of miles, but I did it in just under an hour, which was nice considering I left later than I wanted to. My legs are a little blah, but it'll be good exercise and save me some cash until I get my new bike rolling.

That's about it. I gotta do some stuff, so I'm not sure if I'll be around as much as usual.

I finally got one article done and off to the editor. Now I need to finish that Torskal article. I am having a bit of a block, so I am doing some writing exercises to help work that loose.

What kind of exercises are you doing? Because I'm stuck on the LAST PART for the Monks of Freehold, and it's getting old!!!

Hey Solnes if you and LPM are planning on attending you might want to speak up in this thread. So they can get an accurate count

A few weeks (4) ago I hurt my thumb in karate. I thought it was just a sprain so I didn't think much about it. It didn't really get better after two weeks so I went to the doctor. She takes an x-ray and didn't see anything so she said that is was probably just a fracture and "don't use your primary thumb for a couple of weeks". (Yeah right.) She sends the x-ray off to a radiologist (sp?) and they said that I needed to see a specialist. It turns out I have an Avulsion Fracture. Basically the tendon pulled a bit of the bone off of my thumb. Ow! So now I get to wear a brace/cast for the next four weeks. [sarcasm]Yeah me![/sarcasm]

I got a few pictures this last weekend. It snowed pretty hard though and I was concerned about getting the camera too wet so I didn't take as many as I would have liked. I'll try and post them tonight.

Now off to do a few more things (work-wise) before working on my character.

Happy Monday!

Bummer, bro. I sprained my right thumb 2 weeks ago and it's still bugging me. I'm sick of docs right now, so I will try a hand brace on my own. It has gotten better, so it's not likely as bad as yours.

Good luck and get well soon!

Morning all

'Morning from work, he he. "you have cow on your face" he he. Nice one.

Scarab Sages

Alrighty... I've got a few pictures up from this last weekend. It was snowy. Very. I was a little concerned about getting the camera wet so I really didn't take that many pictures. (Only around 200.) And a lot of the pictures I took were experiments on different settings with the camera. Also, snow landscape is a little difficult for me to take pictures of -- the snow is a huge contrast to the surrounding trees and rocks so either one is often too dark or the other is too bright. But hey -- if life throws you lemons...

Anyway, here are the pictures. (At least the best of them.) Enjoy.

Sigh. I laid down for a nap and just as I got to sleep my phone rang. So I jumped up and ran to get the phone....only to discover it was a telemarketer. Stupid gorram telemarketers....grrr....still trying to figure out how so many of them got my cell number.

Lynora, good to see you back around.

Wife is playing hookie today. Attempting to persuade her to go to Secret of the Kells this afternoon.

I would give you no honors for such a dissertation :)

I almost forgot, I got my finalized GRE scores. 710 (out of 800) verbal, 790 math, 5.5 (out of 6) writing. I'm very happy about that.

There sure are a lot of fart smellers 'round here. Congrats!

You do not have the authority to grant me honors!
Congratulations on your scores.

Silver Crusade

In my previous post, "match" obviously meant "math". That's why I missed 90 points on verbal, I guess ;)

Well, Scott was looking forward to his birthday celebration, unaware that he was being stalked by the psychotic and unstable clone of his highschool shop teacher. Meanwhile, Gregg and Eric were busy planning a road trip to Guatemala, in order to test Gregg's theory on the efficacy of a fuel source derived from Red Bull, chewing tobacco, and used diapers. Across town, Kirk was desperately trying to prevent an attack on his home by irate platy....No, wait! That's my soap opera.

Hey, what can I say - when I'm writing these things I just grab names from wherever. Usually the first one starts a pattern. In some of the past ones, I've used names from co-workers.

hold up your laptop ... move it to the right ... just a little more ... HOLD IT RIGHT THERE! Yes.

While Bitter Thorn and Garydee are out there stalking me because I know the truth ... I have to change locations every five minutes. You just can't be too lax in one's security.

Well, I wonder if this first arrest means the NYC bomber case is cracked. Sure hope so.
