Paizo presence at Gen Con Indy

I was just wondering if anyone knew what kind of presence Paizo would have at GenCon this year. Will they have a booth set up with products and staff? Will they be there at all? I know they have PaizoCon so wasn't sure if they would bother coming to Indy this year. I'm making my plans for Indy now and just wanted to know if I was going to be disappointed. I'm really hoping to find some Pathfinder games in the events as well. Thanks everyone!

Considering they have products that will be released concurrently with that event, it would be rather uncanny if they did not appear.

Dark Archive

Wait a minute! APG comes out this year doesn't it? I seem to recall a release date close to GenCon as well. Am I remembering right? If so, I am even more excited about the convention!

You win!

We'll definitely be at Gen Con this year--I assume with our standard booth (can't remember if it's 20x20 or 30x30).

After this line last year I can't imagine a scenario where Paizo wouldn't have a presence at GenCon. ;)

What really matters is that I will be there... So GenCon will be good this year, dare I say awesome! ;-)

Gross Goethe.

I wonder what kind of foot traffic that generated? 5,000 people? If each bought just one copy, that's a quarter million dollars! :O

I am hoping to be around in some capacity.

That line is reason enough for me to want a day off. :)

It was an awful lot. The line wrapped around our (pretty large) booth twice, down the aisle to the wall about 100 feet, and then around the corner down to the restrooms (another 100 feet or so). It was pretty crazy.

ANYway... yeah, as Sean mentioned above, we'll DEFINATELY be at Gen Con. We've got several books debuting there, so it'll be helpful for us to be there to show them off! :)

So the booth won't be as large this year, since you aren't rolling out THE RULEBOOK of the DECADE!

But it will be great to see y'all there!

The booth will probably be the same size, actually. The LINES might not be as long... but we'll see!

Crap nappit, James, why does Paizo have to release so many awesome books at once? It's like you're trying to get all my money all at once! Couldn't you tone down the awesome just this once, and spread it out over time? :P

So which ones are actually making their debut at GenCon?

If all goes well:

Advanced Player's Guide
Pathfinder #37: Souls for Smuggler's Shiv
Serpent's Skull Player's Guide (PDF only)
Book of the Damned II: Lords of Chaos
Serpent's Skull Item Cards
Orcs of Golarion
And at least one more thing that we haven't yet announced but will very soon...

Fiction. It's gonna be a novel.

Dark Archive

The APG and Book of the Damned 2 are both on my pick up list. If the not yet announced item proves to be a Pathfinder novel, then that is added to the list. I'm really looking forward to it. And hope the lines are just as long as last year, just hope that I'm in the front.

So subscribers simply flash their "subscriber" ID card and pick up their subscriptions there??

:)

I'm gonna do my best to be there! whether it's on my own or (I'm hoping) volunteering in some capacity.

Hah! I knew you were going to make that Swimsuit special!

So is this like a Merisiel and company swimsuit special, or Jason and company swimsuit special?

Really hoping to be there again this year...Likely as a volunteer, and hopefully I can get my worthless friends to get off their rumps and start saving up to join me...would make things much more affordable if I had people splitting motel rooms.

Incredibly pumped about Smugler's Shiv and related books.

Actually, the fiction is already sort of announced.

Sutter talked about it in the foreword of the current AP, "Mother of Flies".

I know, and Erik hinted that the February solicitations/product announcements would include the official unveiling of fiction. Whether we get it at GenCon or not is still up for debate, though.

Will paizo be taking voluntary slaves for helping at the Con? :D

The booth will be the same size and in roughly the same spot, though we'll be closer to that entrance next to the art show (right next to it, in fact). Our Org Play area is in three brand new ballrooms right across the hall from our booth (with, I've been told, taller ceilings!), which makes our ability to demo/Pathfinder Society/delve so much more convenient.

I'll start the call for Gen Con monkeys (both of the GM and booth volunteer variety) probably in a month or so. Stay tuned.

Huzzah on all counts! More room will be grand indeed. *checks to make sure Josh has her email* :P

Like you're not already #1 on my list. :-)

Paizo Employee Director of Brand Strategy

backstabs Noel to take his high spot on Josh's list

Paizo Employee Director of Narrative

Lilz, Noel, and Mark are a helluva trio for GenCon.

Someone needs to give Noel some horse tranquilizers first. ;-)

Paizo Employee Director of Narrative

I'll get right on that.

The Exchange

I am hoping to attend this one. This would be my first. I can't imagine Paizo not being at GenCon. It is unfathomable.

*wonders who might Noel be*

Expect to hear from me when you do. I'd be glad to volunteer for you guys, especially since it'll be my first time at Gen Con.

First I much prefer Halcion because of the retrograd amnesia. Yum.

Second, let's not sugar coat that fact that a certain Greg A. Vaughan sent a 5' tall lass carrying five (!) PRPG books to the back of that huge GenCon day one line.

Lawful evil thy name is Vaughan.

Hey I just did the math and a time check:

I was 4 inches away from you and your critically wounded bard as you typed that you triple back stabbing under handed cur ! (Sometime between the bearded devils and the Mexican food no doubt)

Spoiler:

He's that blunt, no talent hack from Cheliax, New York who started playing D&D with the Red box back in '84.

He and yoda8myhead started playing PFS at the same table on the same day and his character Untamo may be the first PFS diabolist.

He actively recruits new members to the New York PFS meet up, while extolling the virtues of joining the Cheliax faction to said members (we have two Hellknights and counting).

He got no less than eight employees from other game companies to try PFS at Gencon '09 (they became fans and loved our GMs).

Despite being (or because he is) a geek he is dating this girl and the roommate of this girl.

He has an unfortunate addiction to Star Wars minis (again courtesy of yoda8myhead).

He's also gotten those ne'er-do-wells Tim Hitchcock and Nicolas Logue drunk a few times.

But then again who hasn't?

He may or may not have pics of Greg A. Vaughan in his boxers.

But seriously who hasn't got those?

Gencon made him a fan of Josh, Lou, and Adam.

P.S. I'm still a big fan of yours Hugo!
