James (rightfully) closed down the other thread that started by talking about consolidated lists.
I understand the realities that James talked about in that other thread and do not disagree with any of them. And I do understand that this is how D&D has been from the start. Some of the best 1e monsters came out in modules.
I also have had the experience of knowing I saw something somewhere in some book and could not find it when I wanted it.
So, maybe an annual compilation is not possible but maybe one every few years to include rules, prestige classes and other information that is applicable to the bigger game and not just an AP.
James thank you for input on the boards and in the above mentioned thread.

That will be helpful but I am hoping for a hardcover book every few years. Not that I expect it but.... A man can dream.
I personally feel that this is unreasonable to expect.
Just something online that points to which source material holds which content would be more than enough. It doesn't even have to link to anything.

Once we have the list completed we'd probably be so kind as to link to the purchase/store page for the specific product. Seems like Paizo'd appreciate something like that... and getting that list online faster would also seem in their best interests but alas, for whatever reason we're on our own.

I don't know who 'we' are, but it will be welcome. Paizo are being a bit silly on this one.

Not really, you do not know what all they have on the sheet, or how tied in it is to anything else. It maybe some kind of program that has ties into the office and releasing that to the public is a no no
So all we know is they have something like this in office but feel they can not safely let someone out side the office have it. And they have more then a full plate at work and still a bit behind schedule And getting such an item ready for online is not top of the to do list, it's not a Vidal must have by x deadline item like the other stuff.

Sorry, "we" is d20pfsrd.com.
After a while I just get to assuming everyone knows who "we" are lol. However, we all knows what happens when we "assume." So with that said, I'll be more clear in the future.

I agree we have no idea what the real reasoning is. However, we do know it is a spreadsheet. It seems like it would take all of about 2 seconds to delete any columns of information that shouldn't be shared and then attach it to an email and send it out, but yes, we do not know what is in that spreadsheet and Paizo is not obligated to share it. I was thinking if it didn't include private information it would give us a head start and having it out there would potentially result in more books sold but obviously Paizo has reasons why they disagree. With that said, there is no harm and no foul.
We (d20pfsrd.com) already have at least 3 people working on assembling this list as a result of yesterdays thread. Several people were incensed enough about it to jump onboard the team and get moving. We're already seeing things coming together and I expect to have something presentable within a day or two.

I have a theory that the master list includes working rules/monsters from working titles which may still be subject to change. Going through and figuring out which ones they want to keep to themselves -- and then update the spreadsheet when they do release it -- may be more time and effort than they're willing to invest at this point.

Great mincemeat pies, Batman! The turnaround on this thing is incredible D:

jreyst, if you want to add me as a contributor I can help kick-start things with the lists in my character sheet (as I've noted on a few other threads). I've got every feat, trait, bloodline, and domain along with the source book (unfortunately I didn't do page number). for every product through this month's shipment.

Could be. Whatever the reason, I'm sure its a good one. No matter, we're steaming ahead.

Heh. I love the phrase "crowd-sourcing." This is what can happen when a horde of people descend on a problem. Watch it disappear. You can see this progress beginning to form here.
It's not perfect yet and we will be continuing to add to it, but at least you see we're moving forward.

Dude I was WONDERING when you were gonna chime in! I've wanted you on the team for months lol. Well no matter now, whats your Google ID? You can email it to me if you don't want to post it here. My address (its all over the place, why stop now!) is jreyst@gmail.com.
Look forward to working with you! Oh and there is a thread on the d20pfsrd.com collaborators messageboards for this task labeled [TASK] Source Lists. Feel free to chime in there.

Looks good so far, will the OGL content be put on the site, or is it only going to be a 'where to find' list?

Looks good so far, will the OGL content be put on the site, or is it only going to be a 'where to find' list?
Short Answer: Yes.
Slightly Longer Answer: At first it will be a list indicating where every rule, mechanic, item, or whatever, can be located in Paizo products. As time progresses we will be adding -everything that is open content or cup-allowed- to the site. Some of it is already on the site. Many of the traits, a ton of spells, a ton of monsters, and some other stuff is already there. More is added every day.

Great, if I might suggest, and I know it's extra work, but you might want to add an extra category of 'non-core entries' to the website. That way if you have the core books, but want to know what is official (IE: Paizo released content in AP's and such) but not from core then you have one place to go to find it all, rather than searching through each subcategory (bloodlines, traits, etc) to figure out what is and isn't already in the core.
Honestly if someone would go compile all that stuff into a PDF and put it up for sale I'd pay $5 to $10 for it just so I wouldn't have to do it myself.

With my sheet, you can get the OGC for traits and feats at least up ASAP! One note, some of mine are "tweaked" when necessary to come up to speed with PRPG. We'll probably want to note that...

We should be getting a list online in the next few days on d20pfsrd.com and we'll continue adding every bit of Paizo open content we come across. Its a large task so peeps feel free to let me know if you want to help.
If your page insults me one more time, I will stop visiting it.
I was looking at the Monster DB link and it called me an IE user. I'm not an IE user.
And I'm only partially joking, here.

If you are having issues with the new Lists pages that's because their really rough right now and being edited as we speak. There are permissions issues the new collaborator is working through in order to make sure the pages are viewable by all. This is a learning experience for the new recruits so lay off man! :)

That, or internal information, or they just don't have the time to check the document for hidden information that is not meant for external use.
A company cannot afford to make previously internal documents available to the public without checking it. Documents can be tricky, and people can be worse than piranha sharks.

ATTENTION IE USERS!
There is a known bug that may prompt you to login to Google Docs in order to see the data below. If you see the Google Docs login screen instead of the Magic Items data (as you would if you were using Firefox or Chrome) then either upgrade to one of those browsers or CLICK HERE for a somewhat limited functionality version of this data!
I'm not using Firefox or Chrome, but I'm not using IE, either.
There are more than 3 browsers out there, and assuming otherwise is short-sighted.

Firefox, IE, and Chrome account for about 90% of the traffic on the site. For the most part, if I mention those three, I have 90% of the visitors covered.
As for that message, there is a known issue in IE that causes that problem. That message can also appear if a doc has not been shared properly, as is probably the case here. I do not have easy access to Google Docs in the office (firewall rules) and the guy working on this has only started using Google Docs today. Sorry if its not 100% perfect already. Give it a few more hours until I get home to double-check the permissions. Alternatively, he may figure it out before then.
I'm still not sure what makes you feel insulted though or if that was just a joke.

jreyst,
I am glad to see that my posts in the other thread helped get things moving on this. I have been out of town and have no access to my books or I would have posted more. When I get a chance I will let you know when I can try and help some also.
Awesome. I don't remember if I added you into the system yet or not. If not, and you want to be, just let me know.

Just added you into the site. Let me know if you don't get the invite soon. It should be pretty fast.
Yay, I got in! It looks like somethings changed either firewall or on the site as I can now see that data in all the tables (that's what was previously blocked content).
I'll start digging around...
EDIT: Nuts, looks like I spoke too soon as some material is still getting blocked (for example: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?chrome=false%26key=0AjdGPi05MQlJdEd5ZmlE QUk2cmhJS01xN1ZzMlc4X0E%26output=html%26pubredirect=true%26widget=true).
Ah well, I don't want to ping our firewall every time I hit a new page, so I'll check in when I get home...

By the way, any gripes should be directed at me, as I'm the mysterious other collaborator.
Any problems you have seen have been a result of me never having used any of the tools in question before, i.e. Google sites and Google documents.
Now that that's ironed out, and I understand a lot of the limitations of Google sites, things are a lot cleaner. Thankfully I can work in raw HTML and work around a lot of the *ahem* features of Google sites.
As for what content there will be?
I personally will only be adding Paizo content, though I may eventually get to Tome of Horrors and the Advanced Bestiary.
I do not know if it will ever have WoTC 3.5e materials. I'm not against it, but there's already the WoTC Consolidated Lists for that stuff until they take 'em down.
Also note that these lists will not have content, since that's not what I'm looking for. I'm just looking for a way answer a question like "where the heck is the Big Game Hunter feat?"
(and I certainly hope I didn't get James all annoyed at me - my original thread was about lists, I think Paizo should publish their material however best keeps them in business. And I suspect they know that better than anyone on here)

Right. Lots of Microsoft formats actually store history in the document itself, so you may think you've deleted things when all you've done is hidden them. Turn on change tracking and voila! All the deleted material reappears.

Nah, your conduct was flawless.

Nobody was annoyed at you. Well, maybe a little - the thing where you complained about Paizo not answering during the weekend was a bit out of line, but not a big deal.
The problem arose when someone started spewing bile about a product format that's both very popular and very successful.
I wish you luck with that page, but jreyst pretty much put me off it. I'll stick to the actual books and pages like the PathfinderDB, the PathfinderWiki or the Grand OGL Wiki.

Please, let's calm down a little before this thread gets locked down too.
A certain monologue from Monty Python comes to mind. "This is supposed to be a happy occasion! Let's not bicker and argue about who killed who. We are here today to witness the union of two young people in the joyful bond of the holy wedlock. Unfortunately, one of them, my son Herbert, has just fallen to his death. But I think I've not lost a son, so much as... gained a daughter!"
| gbonehead Owner - House of Books and Games LLC |
I'm just happy I've got a place to put my lists :)
Edit: By the way, for anyone who is still interested, the Pathfinder Consolidated Lists are here.
Right now they only cover the Character Traits Web Enhancement, Pathfinder #1, Pathfinder #29, The Great Beyond, Dwarves of Golarion and the Rise of the Runelords Player's Guide, but it's a good start.
| jreyst |
Not trying to start another flame war, but am curious. There seems to be a disagreement between gbonehead and jreyst about whether the OGL content will be posted to the site or just the links.
Or did I just read that wrong?
There is no disagreement. gbonehead is creating the lists. Whether or not he adds any of the actual content is a separate matter. I'd love to have him help with adding other content but right now he has dedicated himself strictly to making the lists. I won't speak for his future plans but the site will have all of the Pathfinder Open Content on it that exists.
KaeYoss: If you want to continue this we should take it either offline to email or over to the d20pfsrd.com messageboards. No one else cares what we argue about and we're likely to get this thread locked if we continue. I'm not going to respond on that subject any further on this thread.
