I'm somewhat new to Pathfinder (played core), and I like the idea of some of the new classes....so I downloaded the summoner and witch. I see there is a sticky thread of "Update Summoner" but it is 718 posts!
Is there somewhere I can get the official updates, consolidated?
One final question, what is the effective caster level of the Eidolon's spell like ability evolution? I tried doing some search for this, but I was unable to find an answer.

Jason mentioned in the 3rd playtest document with the Alchemist and Inquisitor that they'd like to make a combined PDF with changes later on. Ahhh, here's what it said:
"I hope to post a larger, combined PDF later in January
with a host of revisions for these classes, but the date for
that release is not yet set. The playtest has been extremely
productive so far and I hope you will stay along for the
ride, taking this book to store shelves this August. See
you on the boards."
So if such a PDF gets produced it'll probably who up either at the end of the month or some time in February.

The only update is the very first post in that thread. The rest is reactions to the update.
That said, Jason (the lead designer) is working on a re-issue of the playtest classes with the changes to date already applied, including all the changes we havn't been told of. No ETA on that other than "soon".

Just to clarify.....if I gave him magic missile as a SLA, and I was level 9, then the Eidolon would send out 5 magic missiles 3/day?

Yep. The Eidolon is a bit strange in that regard, because logically you'd expect caster level to equal hit dice, but Jason clarified in one of the many question threads (sorry, I have no idea which one so can't link it) that the Eidolon SLA was based on the Summoner's level.
It is weird, but at 9th level and higher its actually a buff to the SLA's. That is when the Big E starts being lower HD than the caster level of the summoner. (until then the E is one higher, they are even at 8 then at 9 the S comes out ahead). Eventually the Big E is 3 HD behind the summoner which is a fairly big disadvantage if you are up against SR or dispel magic or anything.
