And I tend to laugh at people who try to tell me that Jalapenos are "really really hot"! :DJalapenos have NOTHING on Haberneros. It's like pitting mild versus atomic.
And people look at me like I'm an idiot when I tell them "Jalapenos are like a 5/10 on the Chilli scale, they are only mild. Habaneros are 10/10".
Ahhhh...given my geographical residence, we're supposed to be enemies. :PI have an uncle that lives in Ypsilanti, which isn't that far off.

...Oh. You're in Ohio? And yeah, Ypsi is just east of here. The towns kinda blend a bit and there is much going back and forth between them. Ypsi is more affordable to live in, but the schools are better in Ann Arbor. :)
Suburb of Columbus to be exact.
There are pockets of Ypsi that are decent, but it's a matter of pinning them down. As much as it cringes me on saying it, Ann Arbor is the better locale (between the two). :P

No for really, really hot just go to a thai restaurant. :)
And no, jalapenos are not hot. Those little red chilies are much worse. I used to eat them straight up with no ill effects, but there's something about Tabasco. It's not that it's hot, it's that it's specially formulated for destroying your stomach. :/
Yeah, but Thai tends to be a sweet chilli though and I prefer the dry Mexican style chilli.
I love opening a bottle of Tabasco and just smelling it. It makes my mouth water and tingle in anticipation. :D

I bet they are serving you "falong" style and not the real stuff. When you have the real stuff, it is so many times more hot than even the hottest Mexican style (New Mexican, in my experience) that you curse the sweetness and the tastiness that keeps you eating until you taste nothing but heat and then it is too late. Too late!
I lived in the UP for a few years as a child. Winter here in southeast Michigan is at least considerably milder than that. :)At least she's not in the upper peninsula. That'd be double yikes!
Cold is one of the triggers? Am I correct in that you live in Michigan (or somewhere 'round there)? Yikes!
I lived in Columbus for a couple of years before moving to Virginia. Not too bad, but colder than Northeastern Kentucky. I always crack up when the people I work with (among them are one originally from Texas and one originally from Phoenix) complain about how cold it is outside.

Has anyone else trid Zaaschila hot sauces? I just tried their Chile Habanero sauce and it is amazing. Lots of flavor, enough heat to set my mouth tingling, but not so much that it prevents me from tsting my food, nice orange color, the works. If you like hot sace and you ghaven't tried it, you should.I have to admit that I have never branched out beyond Tabasco when it comes to hot sauce. And in spite of liking spicy food it took me a long time to warm up to that after an unpleasant experience when I was younger. One of the problems with being 'one of the guys' is the tendency to get sucked into doing stupid guy stuff, like eat large quantities of straight tabasco on a dare. At least I didn't puke like the other guy did. :p
My "Man moment" was freebasing Dave's Insanity Sauce. I didn't puke, but it did give me the hicups. Zaaschila is different then most hot sauces though. It's imported from Mexico, which means that flavor, not heat, is the main priority.
I wish it didn't have MSG in it.

The only time you will see her is during driver introductions, or if all 42 other cars wreck or blow engines and she wins a race.
