This question has been posted previously but have not received an official answer, so I post it again.
The abjurer's Protective Ward ability have the following wording in the PRD and the Core Book:
"As a standard action, you can create a 10-foot-radius field of protective magic centered on you that lasts for a number of rounds equal to your Intelligence modifier. All allies in this area (including you) receive a +1 deflection bonus to their AC for 1 round. This bonus increases by +1 for every five wizard levels you possess. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Intelligence modifier."
As you can see the bold parts seem to contradict each other, so I would like an official answer which wording is the correct one?
Thanks :)

I'm not sure it contradicts. I guess they mean that all allies that begin their turn on the area have the deflection bonus for 1 round, even if they leave the area later. The area effect itself would last for as many rounds as your int bonus...
I mean, the wizard uses the ward with all party members nearby, then the fighter charges into battle with a bonus to AC for 1 round.

Now that he mentions it, yeah I could see that. Its an area of effect that if you go back into refreshes its rate. For example, say you start it up, then charge outside. When you come back into the area, you'd have a +1 delfection bonus to ac. This bonus lasts for one round. Each round you're in it, the duration refreshes.
Similar to stinking cloud, where it lasts for X amount of time, then leaving it subjects you to the nauseated condition for 1d4+1 rounds.

Which is why I'm looking for an official ruling whether this is a typo, one way or the other, or if it's just unclear wording.

It have came up in other threads, normally they say something like:
"The aura lasts for a number of rounds equal to your intelligence modifier. However if someone leaves the aura, it will last for them for a single round. Since you (the abjurer)will by definition always be in the aura, you receive the benefit for your intelligence modifier"
it works for me, and i think that there are some "protective-buffs" auras that if you walk away and re-enter it, you don't gain the benefit again...
However, i didn't find official answer in this matter in the forums
