i am still re-reading thru the module so it will probably be tomorrow before I start the ic thread, also we are still waiting for three more character to finish up hopefully they will post their characters in the next day or so. Even if they don't we will get started tomorrow evening. Just to give you guys the heads up most of my posting is usually going to be after 5:00pm cst on weekdays (as I work til then) I will sometimes slip in a post in the morning before going to work and pretty much all throughout saturday and sunday.

as to how we are all tied together, i honestly have no idea. Kara is a solitary person, so i assume she would be part of the party because of the like minded individuals, who are off to fight the good fight.

i do have access to some random plot hooks that might work, i can post them and see how they work out, and if people want to chose one, it might make it easier.

on the flip side, you, the DM, may be able to pick one that you like.

i just need to know if this is literally a big scary castle module, or is the name misleading in any way.

No the name is not misleading the module is big bad and evil and full evil dm monsters to crush little puny adventure's into jam :p

On a serious note, for a good point of reference think Tomb of Horrors as this is the follow up to an old adventure called Mordenkainen's Fantastic Adventure from 1st Ed.; the original module starred Mordenkainen and Bigby and there ilk. So lets just leave it at its a 3rd ed module with 1st ed deadliness :)

As to the getting you all together I know where I am putting the castle I am just trying to come up with a good base of operations/where you will be starting from. I half debated just dropping you at the beginning of the module with no intro but that wouldn't be fun and wouldn't give a real sense of purpose now would it. Don't worry about an adventure hook I have that covered. I am more concerned on how to get you all in one place at one time to get you heading towards the castle

As for how the party met, Kjell is a do-gooder, so it's quite likely he ran into at least a few of the party members on various quests and so on. He's also fond of his mead, so there's always the tavern angle.

In an aside, I'm going to include stat blocks for common summoned monsters in Kjell's profile to make using them a bit easier.

Cool beans; i had actually already read your background and it makes perfect sense why your guy will want to go to Maure Castle as it was a hive of demon-worshipping nobles from Cheliax (which is my replacement for Suel from Greyhawk) and it seems your dude is not to fond of Cheliaxians

well if it's a castle jam packed full o' evil, Kara has a bad habit of acting before thinking, and is probably wanting to go in there and destroy all the evil doers by herself, so any help along the way would probably help her achive her goal.

of killing all the baddies.

Like I said I have some good ideas I was wondering more if you wanted to know each other before venturing to the Castle or not. Cause I can make it work either way

sorry!i've been busy at work and home, once i get the character up and running i can usually find the time to post 4/5 times a week

I will sort out the character a soon as i can
I am going to use a charcater from a previous game which died after two or three posts (after i had put in several hours to create it!)

can i use spells from the spell compendium and the book of exalted deeds?

i think i would prefer it if we knew each other

I am okay with the reusing of the character but I need you to reroll your hp in thread. Once everything is ready post on the ooc thread that your ready. As to the spells from spell compendium and exalted, they are a mixed bag of overly powerful or just strange spells. For the time being use the PFRPG only, if there is a particular spell in either of those books that you want let me know the name and I will review on a case-by case basis if I don't feel its unbalancing then I will let you use that specific spell.

Kjell's standard operating procedures, for the record (there aren't many):

  • When in a town or other reasonably secure location, his axe's frost power will be turned off. At any other time, it'll be on.
  • Unless I specify otherwise, Kjell will always use a swift action to use his Arcane Strike feat before attacking. He doesn't have many other swift action or immediate action choices, but I'll make special note of it if he does use one and attack in the same round.
  • When out of combat, Kjell and Neifelbjorn stay within 10' of each other if at all possible, to take advantage of the Eidolon's Greater Shield Ally ability. I strongly encourage everyone else to stick close to him too; that +2 save bonus is a circumstance bonus, which stacks with everything, and everyone but Jon and maybe McGoon can make good use of the shield bonus to AC as well.
  • Kjell uses his rod of lesser extend metamagic and casts barkskin on himself right before setting out on any 'adventuring day', or when leaving a "safe" location for a potentially dangerous one; as such, he only effectively has 5 2nd level spells per day. It lasts for 4 hours extended. I'll try to remind you of this, DM, at the start of each in-game day. He'll probably re-up it when it runs out if we're still adventuring, but that depends on spells remaining and so on. At his level, it grants a +5 natural armor bonus, increasing his AC from 24 to 29 (33 when within 10' of Neifelbjorn).

    I think that's everything. He does have barkskin active; he'd probably have cast it as we approached the ruins of the castle. Time remaining is entirely up to you; again, it has a 4 hour duration.

    By the way, would it be OK if I just used Paizo's dice roller instead of Invisible Castle? I'd prefer to avoid the extra step of going to another web site.

    Zurai, I hate to break it to you, but Arcane Strike doesn't increase Kjell's attack bonus -- it just gives him +3 damage. :-/

    OK, I can just be explicit about all that stuff; I figured stating it every time would get irritating. As for the spell duration, how about we just assume he cast at the same time everybody else did, ie as we're moving down this hallway.

    Hi Thas! sorry to have made your life difficult, a lesson learnt for me is to not modify old charcters, im better off starting a charcter from scratch, its less confusing! and i make less mistakes

    I think its best if will pull out of this game , thanks for you time and effort.
