In Casmaron, in far off Vudra,
Near bright-lit Obari's shores,
Rajah Kasoong Kar sat sated,
Victor of one hundred wars.
His worshippers were many.
His enemies were but few.
Of the contenders for his throne,
All but one he slew.
To that one, his brother Thasir Kar,
The Rajah bequeathed a vassal state
But in Thasir's corrupted heart
Gratitude soon turned to hate.
In the heart of the conqueror's city
Thasir Kar much gold did pour
To distract the triumphant sibling
While Thasir prepared for war.
Knowing his brother's appetites
And hunger for gold and gore,
Thasir built a mighty skirmish ring
Where the gambling crowds would roar.
Still now, in these rings do battle
Beasts summoned from other planes.
Two arcanists enter, summon allies,
And skirmish until only one remains.
Days long past, when that one
Was the wicked sibling Thasir Kar,
He taught the trusting Rajah
How dangerous eidolons are.

Havelock steps out into the arena, feeling the roar of the crowd. He is a small man, wearing a tunic that seems about a size too big, and he has a few days worth of stubble. Still, he has a certain air of nobility around him, as though he knew that he was better than everyone else here.
After a moment he begins a chant in an unholy tongue, and a shadowy form begins to take shape. Soon, a large red and black snake appears coiled next to him.

Photobucket is blocked? If you get to a computer that is not blocked, print it out. You could always get it emailed to you by one of us or an unblocked computer.

Too late. Doesn't really matter though, it's on a few other threads.
A halfling in well-made but simple clothes walks out into the arena. Bowing to his opponent, his Eidolon slides out of his shirt's collar. Slithering around him, it settles in the air in front of him, it's silver sacles glinting in the sunlight.
Lyle is in E15, while Silver is in G13

Please clearly identify where you end up each round. You may want to print the map (that's what I'm going to do).
The roar of the crowd builds as bets are hastily exchanged. Custom has it that new bets can be placed throughout the competition but you may find it hard to find someone to take your bet.
A gong as loud as a clap of thunder signals the start of the competition.
Roll for initiative for both you and your Eidolon. No pre-buffing of Eidolons. (In future contests, you'll have to summon them during round 1. Your opponent may choose to try to deny you a chance to summon by attacking right away).

Tarren the Dungeon Master wrote:As one of the feats available to animal companions is improved initiative, I'm not sure how that works. Is that in PFRPG?Oops. Sorry, house rule from the other games I play. Rule however you like on the matter.
It would probably speed things up in normal games, but for player vs. player it means that whoever goes first, really goes first. That's how it is working out here, however.

Lyle finishes his summoning and a celestial eagle appears next to Pythia(k9), and attacks.
2 Talons
Attack:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage:1d4 ⇒ 2
Damage:1d4 ⇒ 1
Bite
Attack:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Damage:1d4 ⇒ 2
Meanwhile, Lyle movesto K13 and fires a small glob of acid at Pythia.
Acid Splash
Ranged Touch Attack:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage:1d3 ⇒ 3
Havelock Ebonwood
If I'm thinking right, all but the Acid Splash miss Pythia's AC. (Touch 13)
Stepping back, Havelock begins to summon another creature. "Pythia! Get the halfling!"
5ft step to J6, and 6 uses of Summon Monster I left today. Summoning a Fiendish Riding Dog with the following stats as close to Silver when I summon it, between it and me if possible.
Defense
AC 13, touch 12, flat-footed 11 (+2 Dex, +1 natural)
hp 13 (2d8+4)
Resist 5 Cold, Fire, SR 6

jumping, +4 Survival when tracking by scent
Pythia
Pythia follows her master's commands and ignores the eagle in favor of the halfling that injured her. She slithers slightly closer to him, then lunges at him with surprising range.
Five foot step to K11 and using the reach on my bite to attack Lyle. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 221d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Thanks to Trip, I also attempt to trip him as a free action. 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Tarren the Dungeon Master
The celestial eagle cannot penetrate Pythia's magical protection but Lyle's glob of acid burns at Pythia's scales.
Pythia slithers over to Lyle and bites him and whips his feet out from under him.
Round 3
Lyle (18) -- [starts in K13] -- down 2 hp and tripped
Lyle's summoned monster (18) -- [starts in K9]
Silver (15) -- [starts in L13]
Havelock (10) -- [starts in J6]
Fiendish Riding Dog (10) -- [starts in L12?]
Pythia (delayed) -- [starts in K11] -- down 3 hp

Lyle, cursing slightly, tries to roll away and stand up. He begins to cast a spell on Pythia.
5ft 'step' to k13. I think it provokes an attack from Pythia. Casting Daze Monster DC:14 Will Save
"Silver, attack the snake! Lightfeather, get the mage!"
The eagle(Lightfeather), flies to attack Havelock furiously.
Charge attack on Havelock.
2 Talons
Attack:1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 = 7
Damage:1d4 ⇒ 3
Damage:1d4 ⇒ 1
If the eagle can only use 1 talon on a charge, ignore the second damage roll.
Pythia
Not entirely sure you can do that. Still, you're probably doing something that provokes an AoO somehow, so here it is.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 171d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 I'm assuming you can't knock someone prone with the AoO from someone getting back up from prone.
Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Havelock Ebonwood
Not sure if a missed attack requires me to make a concentration check to keep casting the SLA. Rolling anyway. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 Assuming that works...
After a large black dog appears and attempts to bite at the hawk attacking him, Havelock steps back, draws his knife and sends a bolt of acid at the hawk.
5-foot step back to J5 (assuming the hawk isn't adjacent from there), drawing my knife and casting Acid Splash. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 151d3 ⇒ 3
The Fiendish Riding Dog attacks the hawk, assuming it's within it's range. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 201d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Trip attempt if that hit: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Also, the tail slap is at -5 because it already has a primary attack, but you still hit.
Álmos
Silver, hearing Lyle call out, slides over to Pythia and attacks with everything he's got.
5ft step to L12 and full attack.
Bite
Attack:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Damage:1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Tail Slap
Attack:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27*
Damage:1d6 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Confirmation Roll
Attack:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Damage:1d6 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
*Not sure if secondary attacks are at a minus to hit or not, since the eagle's isn't.
Tarren the Dungeon Master
Lyle, cursing slightly, tries to roll away and stand up. He begins to cast a spell on Pythia.
5ft 'step' to k13. I think it provokes an attack from Pythia. Casting Daze Monster DC:14 Will Save
Moving through a threatened square while prone without provoking an AoO is a full round action and requires an acrobatics check of opponent's CMD + 5.
I don't see anything that talks about movement speed while prone but I'd say 5' is a move action that provokes an AoO.
Also, weren't you already in K13?
Tarren the Dungeon Master
Not sure if a missed attack requires me to make a concentration check to keep casting the SLA. Rolling anyway. 1d20+5 Assuming that works...
Since the eagle was threatening you when it came to be your turn, you needed to make a concentration check to avoid provoking an AoO at DC15 + double spell level (PFRPG 207). I'm afraid you lose the spell.
Tarren the Dungeon Master
So, I think Pythia has a turn as she is not dazed yet.
Lyle rolls out of Pythia's range and stands up.
Lightfeather flies toward Havelock but, in her excitement, closes her talons too soon. Still, the eagle's attack does distract Havelock enough to make him lose the spell.
Silver attacks Pythia with a successful bite and a tail slap.
Round 2
ACTED Lyle (18) -- [starts in K14] -- down 2 hp
ACTED Lyle's EAGLE (18) -- [starts in J7]
ACTED Silver (15) -- [starts in L12]
ACTED Havelock (10) -- [starts in J6]
???? Fiendish Riding Dog (10) -- [Spell lost?]
???? Pythia (delayed) -- [starts in K11] -- down 8 hp
Pythia
Yep, no fiendish riding dog around to help me not die. Just need to make sure the halfling dies first.
Pythia once again ignores the thing attacking her and moves slightly closer to the halfling before striking.
5-foot step to K12, then another attack. 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 221d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Trip attempt: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Álmos
Silver moves to strike at the rival snake again, lashing out to defend Lyle.
5ft. to K11 and full attack.
Bite
Attack:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Damage:1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Tail Slap
Attack:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Damage:1d6 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5

Finishing Round 2: Pythia slithers forward and strikes at Lyle, clamping his fangs down hard on his forearm.
At start of Round 3
Lyle (18) -- [starts in K14] -- down 7 hp
Lyle's EAGLE (18) -- [starts in J7]
Silver (15) -- [starts in L12]
Havelock (10) -- [starts in J6]
Pythia (delayed) -- [starts in K12] -- down 8 hp
Beginning of Round 3:
Despite having been bitten, Lyle manages to cast his spell. Pythia shrugs off the effects.
Lyle slithers behind Pythia setting up a flanking position but misses on both of her attacks.
The presence of two serpentine creatures seems to be throwing off the eagle despite its celestial nature.
Currently in Round 3
ACTED Lyle (18) -- [starts in K14] -- down 7 hp
ACTED Lyle's EAGLE (18) -- [starts in J7]
ACTED Silver (15) -- [starts in K11]
Havelock (10) -- [starts in J6]
Pythia (delayed) -- [starts in K12] -- down 8 hp
Does this look right?
