There is no real reson why an oracle is cursed, they just are. It seems out of place so I'm suggesting a change to the flavor text of the oracle.
Oracles do not get their spells from any peticular god, infact they get rarely worship dieties at all, Instead oracles get their spells by trying to steal their magic directly from the divine evergy that is reated to the profolio of a god. In other words oracles get the powers grated by a god of death, not by worshiping him, but by fiding ways to steal some of the gods power. The result is the oracle gets cursed, but she also gets magic and a foci based on the powers stollen.
Anyone think this would be an improvement over the curent way oracles are presented?
I'm also petitioning a change to the iconic cavalier, from a human male to a halfling female. It's just better that way.

In Greek/Roman mythology there are many cases of people being chosen to be a conduit for divine energy, but gaining some negative side effect because of it. This is why the curse mechanic exists in the Oracle class.

Oracles DON'T get their magic from the gods directly, they get it from their focus, which has a relation to gods, and gods will try to persuade them to thier agenda, but oracles don't have to serve any god.
Oracles are cursed because they have thier magic trust upon them, their curses are not as bad as they seem, someone put it really nicely when they said that the deaf oracle isn't deaf, he simply can't hear the mundane over the glory that is the song of the universe itself. The oracle with clouded vision can't see, but they can see. Un-anthropomorphic forces of existence grant gifts that may seem like curses to merely mortals, or cause curses as side-effects because such forces have no true grounding in reality or sentience and so don't at all perceive an oracles situation.
As for the art, its already paid for, and changing it would cost a fortune, also while I'd love a halfling female cavalier, she's not exactly an iconic knight, whereas the current guy, whom I also like alot, is! :D

I briefly touched on curses in the play testing portion of this forum.
Curses I feel are a good edition to the class but at the same time could be redone to add more of a role play fluff, or even fix certain situations combat wise.
Clouded Vision for instance could instead be complete blindness, but as later levels progress the oracle gains blindsight out to 5 or 10 feet/level in the class. As well as gaining uncanny dodge and improved uncanny dodge.
Deaf curse I like that you gain silent spell as a bonus feat and it does not affect casting times at all or uses a higher level slot.
Wasting could be switched for an entirely new one.
Lame could be switched for an entirely new one.
Tongues I say keep as it is, because that is funny in combat.
Haunted could be reworded that instead of adding spells it adds some sort of bonus on knowledges. Or even at higher levels it allows some method of scrying, or dream travel.

Just to clarify, I don't think that oracles should lose the curse part of the class, I just feel it comes off as a little tacked on. I see others disagree, so I'll say no more.
I also want to clarify myself on this.
I like the idea of curses, but I feel that some should be changed, or new ones come out as new focuses come out with the oracles.
