The file itself is not zipped. You should be able to just save it to a location and then double click on it, which should open up Excel. If that is not working that way, then perhaps after you save it to a location, then open up Excel and then browse to the saved file's location through Excel's open file menu selection. (Sorry if all this sounds to basic -- I'm just trying to cover off all bases). If for some reason your browser is detecting the file to be a zip file, then I think the browser is the problem. Maybe try a different browser like Firefox?
Have you tried the links from my webpage I am using to host it? (Although they point to the same files so there shouldn't be a difference).

G'day Kor,
yes I have tried from the above site & the 2002-2007 version comes up as a normal excel file at 13MB & this works but the 2007+ xlsm file which is 3.7MB comes up as a ogresheet.zip & is the file I cant get to work - btw I use IE8 if thats makes any difference to you

Okay, I figured out the problem... and no surprise... it's Microsoft.
I tried Both IE6 and IE8 and both recognize the file as a zip. (Firefox does not). In order to save it, you just need to right click on the download link, and select "save as". Then you need to change the "Save as type" to "All Files". Then, you need to remove the .zip extension and replace it with .xlsm
Of course I don't expect everyone who uses IE to go through all these steps, so I will start saving the .xlsm files as a .zip file.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention, this will help a lot of people download this now.

Hi Kor,
Great sheet - keep up the good work!
That being said I just noticed a problem. I'm using your latest version and noticed that barbarian is not on the list of classes you can select a level in. I can pick it as favoured class but not a level.....
Hi Cutter, thanks for testing out the sheet.
I just tested it, and Barbarian is working for me. I am guessing that you must have had a lawful alignment selected. I just tested all the non-lawful alignments and they do allow Barbarian to show up in the class list. If you want to have a lawfully-aligned barbarian, then you will have to check off the "Overrride class alignment restriction" on the Stats page.

Thanks for the feedback. With this being a 4-page, landscape character sheet, I suspect people will either really like it or really dislike it. I'm happy to hear you are in the former category :)

I probably did have LG selected - I was just flipping through real fast and forgot that! Sorry.

Hi Kor!
Thanks for the great character sheet! I tried to build an elven mage on it, and ran into some trouble while doing so. I too would like to see traits implemented on the finished sheet, just like the good people above me. Here are some of the things I found:
- Hit Points are being calculated twice, if you first add a number to the 1st level "HP Roll" field, then click on the checkboxes above it to get a specific way of calculating them; you get the manually added number plus the amount listed with the checkboxes (Standard, Double, Racial etc). You cannot edit the HP Roll field at this point, but it still retains the same value it had.
- Talking of the same page, it would be awesome to have some kind of a macro to fill in classes faster (think of level 20 Wizard: you'll go crazy with the drop boxes).
- The Skills-tab doesn't always calculate the amount of skill points properly. You see a blue 1 for one remaining skill point, and when you assign it, you get a red -1.
- Elves get a +2 racial bonus on Spellcraft to identify magic items, not Appraise. This bonus is not registered anywhere but the Page2 of the sheet (and for the wrong skill). [Edit: I found it, it's written below the skills in Page1]
- +2 Bonus from Keen Senses is not added to the character sheet, though it appears on the Skills tab.
- Also, the boni from Bonuses tab don't add up to the character sheet, though visible on Skills tab (tested with Perception - wanted to add the Conspiracy Hunter trait from CoT AP).
- There could be an option for Bracers of Armor or enchanted robes in the Arms tab. 0.12 didn't calculate AC at all if the armor field was empty, but classes who generally don't use armor have to use the Bonuses tab to correct their AC on the sheet.
- There's also no mention of Elven Spell Penetration anywhere, and you cannot add it through the Bonuses tab.
- Improved Initiative -feat isn't being calculated correctly. Neither are the traits included via the Bonuses tab. You can manually add them through the Classes tab.
- There's no good option to add a Headband of Vast Intelligence to a character - the skill ranks can only be entered through Bonuses or Skills tabs, and they don't register as Ranks there.
- There's no way of adding gear to the different slots of Worn Magic Items yet.
- Wearing a Headband of Vast Intelligence gives a huge amount of skill points for all levels to use. I guess it's up to the user to remember when he started wearing one, but it would be great if a system that recognized changing characteristics could be implemented.
- Melee bonuses are calculated strangely. My wizard is proficient with both longsword and quarterstaff, but his attack totals are 11/6 with the sword, 7/2 with the staff. Does that mean he is dualwielding with the staff? If yes, can there be an option to force single-wielding staves?
Thanks again for the good work :)

Thanks for the great character sheet! I tried to build an elven mage on it, and ran into some trouble while doing so. I too would like to see traits implemented on the finished sheet, just like the good people above me. Here are some of the things I found:
I'm still exploring my options as to how to incorporate the traits into the design. The easy way would just to add a seperate traits page, however I suspect in most cases characters would only ever be starting with just 2 traits, and probably never acquire any more, so based on that, I have a plan on how to implement them. Buying additional traits via a feat through the Levels page will be very easy to implement. If I rely solely on my Levels page for traits entry, then the most traits I could make available at 1st level is 3 -- does anyone foresee any problems with this?
Hit Points are being calculated twice, if you first add a number to the 1st level "HP Roll" field, then click on the checkboxes above it to get a specific way of calculating them; you get the manually added number plus the amount listed with the checkboxes (Standard, Double, Racial etc). You cannot edit the HP Roll field at this point, but it still retains the same value it had.
Although the HP Roll cell will turn from yellow to white, it should still be editable. I should make that field appear red though when this happens, and not add in the HP in it.
Talking of the same page, it would be awesome to have some kind of a macro to fill in classes faster (think of level 20 Wizard: you'll go crazy with the drop boxes).
That could be something I could incorporate into it. Those selection boxes though are not like other Excel character sheets I have used, where they are a fixed box (called a "combo box" in Excel). In this sheet they are just a cell-based entry list (called a "validation list" in Excel), which allows you to copy and paste that cell's contents all the way down. (The quickest way in Excel is to just hover your cursor over the bottom right corner of the cell. You should see the big white Excel cursor change to a thin black one -- when this happens you can hold down the left mouse button and pull down on the mouse which will copy that class down to all other boxes you select.)
I'm glad you brought this up though as I do want the sheet to be easily usable by people of any Excel proficiency level.
The Skills-tab doesn't always calculate the amount of skill points properly. You see a blue 1 for one remaining skill point, and when you assign it, you get a red -1.
I've run a couple tests now and have not been able to duplicate this problem. Could you tell me what information that you had in the sheet that creates this problem.
+2 Bonus from Keen Senses is not added to the character sheet, though it appears on the Skills tab.
Thanks for noticing this, I found the problem now.
Also, the boni from Bonuses tab don't add up to the character sheet, though visible on Skills tab (tested with Perception - wanted to add the Conspiracy Hunter trait from CoT AP).
I tried adding an untyped Perception bonus on the Bonuses page and it did show up fine on the Skills page and Page2. I will experiment a bit more though. I will also add "trait" as an available bonus type.
There could be an option for Bracers of Armor or enchanted robes in the Arms tab. 0.12 didn't calculate AC at all if the armor field was empty, but classes who generally don't use armor have to use the Bonuses tab to correct their AC on the sheet.
This is mainly by design right now. The only armor types that should be going into the armor field are standard armors. I am hoping for my Beta release to have my "Items Store" ready to go, where you would be able to allocate magic items and other equipment.
There's also no mention of Elven Spell Penetration anywhere, and you cannot add it through the Bonuses tab.
It does appear under "Elven Magic" on Page2. However, it should also be showing up under the "Spell Information" area on Page1. I will amend that.
Improved Initiative -feat isn't being calculated correctly. Neither are the traits included via the Bonuses tab. You can manually add them through the Classes tab.
Thanks for noticing this, I found the problems now.
On a side note, on a quick glance of Page1, I wasn't able to readily see the reference to "INITIATIVE". I think "INIT" might be too short of an abbreviation, so although I do like that all of those boxes are the same size, I may change that one to a wider box.
There's no good option to add a Headband of Vast Intelligence to a character - the skill ranks can only be entered through Bonuses or Skills tabs, and they don't register as Ranks there.
Hrmm, that is a good observation. Although I think my "Item Store" will address this to some degree, Paizo's chosen method of Int-increase items is going to make for an interesting challenge for me to incorporate into the spreadsheet.
There's no way of adding gear to the different slots of Worn Magic Items yet.
You can type in the gear items next to body slots (with the exception of armor and shields). Eventually all of it will be automated.
Wearing a Headband of Vast Intelligence gives a huge amount of skill points for all levels to use. I guess it's up to the user to remember when he started wearing one, but it would be great if a system that recognized changing characteristics could be implemented.
I will need to ensure that Int raises (other than every 4th level) do not affect the skill point calculations.
Melee bonuses are calculated strangely. My wizard is proficient with both longsword and quarterstaff, but his attack totals are 11/6 with the sword, 7/2 with the staff. Does that mean he is dualwielding with the staff? If yes, can there be an option to force single-wielding staves? Yes, the staff defaults as a double weapon. On the arms page where it shows "Weilded" you can change the Override to "one-handed". Since so few people dual-wield staves though, the default should be "one-handed".
Thanks so much for posting all of these.

The Additional Traits feat specifically allows 2 more traits, so if someone takes that feat at 1st level, you'd need to allow for selection of 4 traits total. Right now, that feat is the only "official" way of gaining more than 2 traits, at least of which I am aware, and a character will not have more than 4 traits as it may only be selected once.

Well, that's easy to implement, you have all the necessary slots in the sheet already. You have 7 rows for feats, just make one Feature Type into "Traits", and change the three "Feature Selections" to be the traits themselves. If someone selects the Additional Traits feat (PF Character Traits PDF), he can select that as a feat normally.
Some of the points I brought up might be unreasonably situational, and I hope you understand I didn't bring them up in a malevolent way. I still think the sheet is pure awesome, and am grateful for your work on it.

I think it might have been due to my use of arrow keys while assigning ranks to the skills. I couldn't reproduce it myself a second ago either. Edit: and found out why: I had Scroll Lock on! Entering 1 to a field and moving to the next with arrow keys (instead of pressing Enter) can do this. Same with deleting a value (with Delete-key) and moving with arrow keys.

The elven wizard I was creating had a Perception score of 27 on the Skills tab. Trained Bonus +3, Magic Bonus +1, Misc Bonus +2, Wis +1; Bonus Total +7, ranks 20.
First +3 was the class skill (from the trait, selected through the Override Class Skill on the same tab), +1 Magic Bonus from the Trait: Conspiracy Hunter, input in the Bonuses tab as an Untyped Perception bonus, +2 Misc Bonus should be the racial bonus form being an elf, +1 from Wisdom.
Page1 on the character sheet gives me total of +24, with 20 ranks, +3 Misc, +1 bonus and +1 mod (captions above the fields).

Ah, I see it now, silly me. I wonder if you could fit in a box for SP on the character sheet? Is it even necessary?

I'll certainly do that. Right now its basically in the Alpha Testing phase while I work the bugs out and finish the core content. The Beta release should be quite reliable and should have most (if not all) of the content the sheet needs, so I think it's best that I wait until then.
Thanks, I'll be in contact when its ready to go.

I will soon have the next version out. I am adding in Traits on this version.
I was hoping to use the existing tabs for incorporating them, but I can not. In particular, the Additional Feat selection really thwarts me, because the sheet is only designed to allow 1 optional selection when you choose a feat. (If you select weapon focus, then it will add another option for the weapon type).
I will be adding a Traits page which will only display if you select a "Use traits" option.

I have a question. I was trying to add the spell-less ranger from Kobold Quarterly 11 in, and wasn't sure how to select custom feats or class features (i.e., the get "tricks" like the rogue does). How can I do this w/ my limited excel-fu?
Funny you should mention the KQ spell-less Ranger since I just added it into d20pfsrd.com today.
You can see it here. I still have to go in and add appropriate credits and linkage back to KQ but its up at least.

I like the sheet alot and I am trying to input my lvl 7 Gnome sorcerer. Everything seems fine up until the feats section. I can enter in my first level feat fine, but then when I enter the Obsessive section it causes a problem. Once I select a Obsessive option, if I look at the Classes or the Skills tabs all of the sections that containing calculations now say #N/A ...
It pretty much kills the entire sheet. If I clear the feat section after that, all the values return to their correct numbers.

I have added in traits (They are 99% functional, there are I think 3 traits that affected some odd stats that I have not yet made them functional for - such as one lowers armor check penalties).
I have made a few other fixes as well as identified in some of the prior forum comments.

I noticed when building a ranger, with a dex bonus of +2, wearing studded leather (ac check of -1) and skill level of 1, it gave me a total of of -2
Ah yes, I see the problem. I will fix it on the next release (hopefully tomorrow). There is a little math problem with Dex based skills right now.

Hrmm, it appears that I have to make some changes. Ideally you should be able to just go to the custom sheet and type in the ability you wish to add, and flag it as a class ability. However if you do this right now, it will not appear as a class ability. For the time being though, if you choose the custom Category as "Other" it will appear on Page 2.

Hey, there are no cleric domains, and even if you select the martial weapon proficiency feat, it doesn't count you as proficient.
The domains seem to be appearing fine for me. (Although you must either select a deity on Stats page, or check the "Do not limit domain selections to the chosen deity's domains" on the options page). When I do either of these, the domains are appearing. Did you choose a deity, and if so which one? (Perhaps it might be an error with a specific deity).
I also tested the martial weapon proficiency and it appears to be working for both the deity's weapon and for the martial weapon proficiency feat. Which weapon were you selecting (maybe its an error with a specific weapon)?

I did some more testing, Windows 7, Office 2007 SP2, it looks like it happens on the Bloodline portion of Levels tab. I can choose a Bloodline fine, all the calculations stay the same, then when I choose the Earth elemental under Feature Selection thats when all the calculations goto N/A or ### (7th Level Sorcerer)

Great sheet! Wanted to bring a couple things to your attention..
-On Page 1, the Skill totals don't seem to take ability bonuses into account. You can see them in the Ability Bonus column but they aren't reflected in the Total column.
-I read above that Traits are implemented but Westcrown Firebrand is not adding +1 to my Initiative.
And this is just a suggestion, but I think it would be very helpful to just be able to enter a weapon one time and then below it it would have the various bonuses if it was wielded one handed, two-handed, main hand, with Power Attack, etc. As it is, the weapon has to be selected multiple times with each different setup and it seems that could be a little more efficiently done.
Love the sheet, especially how well it lays out for print. Thanks, and keep on rockin!

I will have to put some thought into this. It is a great idea, but I'm just not sure how easily I can incorporate it. It would require a complete redesign of the weapons sheet, which is fine if I can make things simpler.

Humans can choose their "subtype" under the "Sub-Type" field. (I'm not sure if this is what you meant).

Its working really well so far, thanks for the fix! I really like the layout here. One quick question ..
I don't have any ranks in Acrobatics, so I only get my Dex bonus and I can use it untrained. However on the Page 1 of the printout section of your sheet, you show a -- in the Total section for all the skills I don't have ranks in, but that I can use untrained. I can see the +2 Dex mod on the right of that section, but under total it shows me a --
Would seem like under total it should just read +2 as well. Makes it so I only need to look in one row for all the data I need.

was building a human rogue (level 1, int of 12) and when I chose my favored class as +1 skill point, on the skills page, on remaining points, I had "#" listed.
Went away when I chose hit points instead of skill points.
That "#" was showing because the "10" was too big for the field. As soon as your remaining points are in the single digits, you will see the proper number. I will fix this on the next version though. Thanks.

Yes, total is supposed to total all the bonuses & ranks. I forgot to carry over the totaling of the rank on the data sheet. It will be fixed. Thanks.

Also, on a side note, I noticed that some skills weren't properly assigned the "use untrained" status. (i.e. Fly, Profession, Spellcraft)

The latest version (Alpha 0.18) is out. The sheet appears to be working well at this time. I had to do quite a few fixes to bloodlines. The Dragon Disciple PrC "should" now be fully functional. This PrC was a good exercise for me as it can either enhance an existing draconic bloodline, or it essentially gives you a second bloodline. I have run a few tests with this PrC and everything appears to be running properly.
On the plus side the remaining PrC's should be a lot easier/quicker to add in.
All previously identified errors should have been fixed now. As usual, please let me know of any problems you encounter.
Thanks.
