Anyone seen the announcement over at classicbattletech.com?

Good for them to realize the benefits of an open reading, if not a playtest. That said however...

I'm not about to pay $10 for the PDF to proofread.

+1 there. I will not pay to proofread. The system looks interesting however and some folks will jump at the chance

::checks bank account::

I think I'm one of those people. Anything to get my hands on some Dark Ages stuff.

ugh dark age, shudder

God I love Dark Age. Anything to make the neckbeards quiver as they make room at the table for anyone younger than they are.

Worst time line ever! If I could call a trail of annihilation on it I so would. It should be stricken from existence and cast into darkness. It should be forgotten and not named upon penitently of a beating

I how I loath dark ages.

Those who pay for the Beta get a free upgrade to the final off-the-shelf version when it's released.

For what its worth I picked up my copy.

Just picked up my copy...hope to have some elementary thoughts on it up soon.

highlighting Dark Age material for the good Star Colonel

I may pick the ruleset up but will not play past 3052-3055 offical timeline

I agree the stuff after the official time line was blah.

I agree, I grew tired of the superfriends, It just grew silly after 3055 if not before. Great setting as long as you stay pre 3055

Eh. Anything before "UberMensch From Beyond Space and Time" is game for me.

I'll happily play in any setting from the Star League to 2049.

Jihad Era and Dark Age are politics as usual for me too.

What bugs me is Wob has enough troop and mechs to mess with all the greathouse at once?? really all of em? And do not get me started on victor and the superfriends,,,ugh

And we will not talk of how silly dark ages is.

I am a clan player myself, but pre 3049 games are always very cool, if someone was to run a per clan game I would be in...I can not say that for any game set after 3059 at the most

See, the fiction helps in that the Wobbies both use internal divisions and lots of nukes. The Black Dragons, the Skye seperatists, the Legion Cincinatus, The Haseks, Kali Loony-Liao, etc.

Next y'all will be upset we're getting LAM rules soon :-)

I have used Lams in a game(not a clan game mind you} And liked LAM's even if they didn't fit perfect but still had a merc back in 3037 that used one hella game that was

I can not explain my hate of darkage with enough words. I dislike alot of the jihad story build up ...a damned lot but the Jihad it's self not so much I just disagree with alot of the story. Hard not to find something cool in a big damned war in a setting with mechs after all

My stoyline will never go past 3059 canon, never.

Maybe I'll get lucky and they'll submit it for the ENnies this year.

I presume they still use a classless skill and advantage based system?

the fast play seemed to have alot in common with SR4, which is not a bad thing. I am thinking it was based off that system

Interesting, I played a SR4 sniper, but we never got to a combat before that group collapsed. As always it'll be interesting to see how skill levels translate to gunnery and piloting scores.

Take a look here Fast play

It's not the same, it does however bare a resemblance to it. They did use the same attributes as Sr4. They went 2d6 not dice pools however you will see much in common with SR4 set up

It still looks a lot like the old Mechwarrior which wasn't too bad.

Not at all. I didnt care for mw3 much myself. I think they took old and new ideals and ran with it.

Which was your preferred system?

I've been thumbing through my pdf and I'm not too wowed, but I understand that this is not the finalized product.

I played 2e, hated the 3e rule set. I have not played the new set, but have glanced over the freeplay rules. Looks usable but I just no longer care about the setting like I used to, so am unlikely to ever buy them but I might who knows

All in how easy I could use em and not deal with the awful that is anything post 3055
