Concerning the oracle.

Perhaps moving fireball to a 4th level spell on the oracle spell list would keep him from stepping to much on the sorcerer's toes.

Fireball is mostly effective at mid levels 5th-9th, afterwards it becomes mainly a flashy spell without too much substance. I would honestly be more concerned if oracles got fly or teleport.

Now refering to the witch.

I'm a little concerned that the witch may end up stepping on everyones toes. A Great familar means it would be like the summoner and arcane and divine magic means it would be like a mystic thurge as well.

If it has healing, great buffs, utlity spells, and any offensive magics I just can't see a reason not to play one, unless you like fighters.

Kinda scary how overpowered it could become.

Also I agree, cabalist would be a good name for a summoner. (Set's suggested name)

I guess it's somewhat fitting that the first preview of the new classes is the Oracle, because even if your not on the bandwagon with the name, what other class would be more suited to have a blog from the future.

And my prediction is this:

Hey Baron

Spoiler:
Could you please start linking to specific blogs, rather than the entire Paizo blog page? Many times now I have followed your stale links and had to scroll down to find the right blog. For example: the Oracle. Just click on the link labeled "Link" at the bottom of the blog entry. Thanks!

I am certainly reserving judgment until the final class is released, but my initial impression of the Oracle is that it is hard to justify how this is balanced with the sorcerer class. It looks like is has a divine version of sorcerer spell progression, with higher HP dice size, access to armor and also limited access to arcane spells based on aspect. It also has a suite of special abilities, but as we know little of those just now, let us assume that they are roughly balanced with the sorcerer bloodline powers.

So, it appears that you have a sorcerer-type class with various bonuses on top of the sorcerer baseline. I don't think this tiny little "curse" mechanic could be the balancing mechansism.

I hope I am missing something. I know I don't have all of the relevant info, so I mean this in the spirit of inquiry rather than of snark: How is this class not just a "sorcerer-plus"?

By the same argument, the cleric is just a `wizard-plus`.

Ummm, no. I already specifically addressed that point in my post, if you'd care to read it.
