Sorcerer Fey Bloodline -- Laughing Touch

Rules Questions

2 people marked this as FAQ candidate.

So I am trying to figure out about the Laughing Touch ability -- can it be used on creatures that are immune to mind-affecting effects? It doesn't say anything about it in the description of the ability, but it sure SEEMS like a mind-affecting effect. I had a player try to use it against a zombie-like creature and it didn't seem right.

RAW it is not mind affecting, but I assume it was an editing error.

While errata and FAQs are on people's minds...

I houserule this as mind affecting as well.
I just can't see oozes laughing, somehow!
well, maybe flubber...

<bump/cast thread resurrection>

Since my search-fu didn't turn up any specific answers from the developers on this topic, I've decided to bump/resurrect this thread in hope of finally getting an authorised reply.

Should Laughing Touch be a mind-affecting ability?

Should it be able to affect: Undead, Plants, Oozes, Vermin, Animals, or Constructs? What about specific sub-types like Elementals - such as a fire elemental?

It's already an awesome defense for its no save even if it's only once per target per day, it's obviously mind-effecting though. Also already awesome due to ignoring the Hideous Laughter penalties vs different races or species.
