The group Thoroughly checks the inside of the tomb..two things are of interest here..the first being an old discarded robe laying in the corner..Bedlam finds it as he is searching..and the second thing that is noticed is that the casket containing Father Tobins remains has been opened and his remains are missing..

![]() |

"This is ominous. I cannot imagine they would need all of Father Tobin's remains if they intended to rob the tomb, so it suggests that either they were taken foer some nefarious scheme, or...they walked. Either way, the question would be to where?" saya Anders grimly.

![]() |

Katrin says, "Skeletons huh? I didn't know that the Goblins were the type to be creating undead. Whatever the case these bones are now not moving anymore although we should maybe check the other graves afterward to make sure that no one skeletons will be digging themselves up. Ya know, if they just cremated the corpses they wouldn't have to worry about them rising from the grave"

Sacerdos Echthileon |

Sacerdos nudges the robe with the toe of his boot. Filthy implement, I would burn it if it weren't for the potential for further clues...
"Be mindful of the garment, brave Bedlam. A Robe of Bones if I don't miss my guess." He thinks upon some of his father's teachings....Appraise: 1d20 ⇒ 11..."It's worth quite a bit, gold in the thousands...but it casts a shadow over the bearer for it's used by Necromancers."
He takes a crouching stance next to the robe and draws a dagger. "Here and here..." Sacerdos points using the dagger. "...these empty spaces are where patches are sewn to represent what the bearer would call forth as an undead combant."
"There are still hints of magic about it...But the one who wore it looks to have generated these skeletons, then discarded the garment for one of several reasons..." Sacerdos stands and takes a step away from the vile thing, sheathing his dagger. He counts off on his fingers. "One, the garment is used up and so the owner tossed it aside..." he holds up a second finger. "...two, maybe he is a local and upon exiting the cave with what he needed, he had to toss it aside lest it be recognized by local priests. One way or another, someone got in here, called forth these skeletons and the goblin attack outside in order to cover up the crime of grave robbing."
The cleric eyes the Robe of Bones with burning hatred. "My advice, we gather what we can from the garment, then burn the thing so it cannot be used again."
To the Sheriff he asks, "What is not being said about the good Father's crypt? What was buried with him that would possess someone to open his resting place and steal everything inside? Bear in mind we are most likely dealing with Necromancers."

Bedlam Bottomland |

Bedlam eyes the robe warily.
He straightens, listening to Sacerdos' explanation.
Me thinks that whomever is behind the raid was looking
for something in here. Me thinks that they wanted the
late Father's bones for some purpose?
Bedlam points outside the Vault.
I only found goblin tracks and one humanoid track
leading from the wall to here. At least,
I didn't notice anything that be resembling a skeleton.

GM BigBusMan |

The Sheriff replies:
"To my Knowledge there was nothing of value entombed here with the good Father, but i agree that the attack today appears to be a diversion to allow whoever did this to gain unnoticed access to this crypt and its contents..for now Id like to ask you all to keep this information to yourselves, the townsfolk are already scared and uneasy and we don't need them panicking at the thought of a necromancer roaming free among them.."

Sacerdos Echthileon |

"Agreed, Katrin. Perhaps we can start here." Sacerdos points to the wall where Bedlam had indicated the tracks had began. "Is that the forest beyond that wall? Perhaps our ranger would have some luck tracking them further. If we are vigilant and disciplined, we may be able to track these fiends to their den." He looks about, getting his bearings within the boneyard. Perception Check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
He rests a hand upon the hilt of his sword, finger upon the engraved holy symbol of Ragathiel and asks of Sheriff. "May we beg further of your hospitality and request deputizing? While we won't be pressing the locals with questions without your insights or presence, I think it will improve our..." Sacerdos searches for the right word. "...standing with the citizens of Sandpoint?" Diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 + 1 = 17 Activating Touch of Good daily power.

Bedlam Bottomland |

Bedlam looks over the tracks.
tracking: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 12
Favored enemy bonus included and Ranger class
Yuck! Bedlam seems to be looking at the bottom of Sacerdos' boots...lol!

GM BigBusMan |

The Sheriff looks at Sacerdos and smiles:
" I guess I could use a few Deputies around here, I have a feeling im going to need you here ..very shortly..so From henceforth, you shall be Deputies of Sandpoint..if you all will come by the Office tomorrow, I will get you all some badges and your authority identification..but as for right now..I think its time you all headed back to the Rusty Dragon and had a good nights rest!!..No need to traipse off into the unknown tonight master Dwarf" He says the last part to bedlam as he sees the dwarf is trying to follow the tracks.

Bedlam Bottomland |

Trying is the correct wording!...lol!
Bedlam looks up from the ground.
Aye, I be needing some refreshment in order to
work properly anyhow!

Sacerdos Echthileon |

"Thank you, Sheriff. The support will mean all the world to the investigation." Sacerdos offers, but his attention is on the wall between the forest beyond and the city...no, the town of Sandpoint. The stone seems such a woefully insufficient barrier between the people and whatever evil is beginning.
"Or an evil that continues..." The cleric mutters to himself. There wasn't a tremendous calendar of years between what is happening now and what plagued them in the past.
He clasps his hands behind his back and eventually nods agreement. But it's plain on his face he is not too eager to call off the investigation. "Yes, perhaps a night's rest will provide us with the needed perspective..." He turns from the wall when a thought occurs to him. "Sheriff, is there a local historian or chronicler of the land on which your fair town stands? Perhaps we can invite him or her to join us for dinner and learn more about this land's history...and maybe why someone would go to these lengths."

Mr. Foxglove does owe us a meeting, and he had a particular shine for Katrin.

![]() |

I'm leaving for the inn unless there are any other needs in this tomb.

![]() |

Well Anders enjoyed free food and board yesterday, and he's enjoying it now. If you hurry up, there may be room for you too at the table. It's looking a bit empty at the moment with just two of us. Bedlam has downed three mugs of ale already, any more and he'll be getting Merry, and there's nothing worse than a Merry dwarf. Actually that's a good name for a pub. Do you think Ameiko will change the name of the Inn?

Bedlam Bottomland |

Bedlam looks--sheepishly--around at the others,
particularly at the Cleric and Paladin.
He then shrugs his broad shoulders,
grinning as he orders another ale!

GM BigBusMan |

The Group heads back to the Rusty Dragon, Tired and worn from a very long day and 2 battles..they find themselves sitting at the tables in the inn, the fire is going in the fireplace..the ale is flowing and Ameiko is serving the food..a Small Halfling bard is over in the corner playing music and singing songs..several of the townsfolk are there, all talking about the days events..there is uneasiness in the air, but the folks are trying to figure out and come to terms with the attacks..Hoping that it was just an isolated incident, it seems as though they intent to start fresh tomorrow and continue on like normal..From across the Room Anders spies what appears to be a rather attractive young women, who blushes and smiles every time she makes eye contact, in the corner booth is the man that Katrin beat at arm wrestling, looking like he is still nursing his bruised ego..and arm..Bedlam and Pierce are looking around the place for any sign of Lorilon, who they haven't seen since the battle in the bone yard, they are starting to worry about their little friend..

![]() |

Katrin pulls out the sachel of gold and approaches the table with the man nursing his wounded arm and pride and puts the man's sachel on the table. She says to the man "Hey there. You left this behind at the festival. Just thought you should have it back. You made a good effort there fella and I appreciate the entertainment you gave me. Just be careful about underestimating an Ulfen the next time you give arm wrestling a go."

Bedlam Bottomland |

Bedlam sighs as he has yet to notice Lorilon.
Me hopes that he is safe. He is a good companion
and his skills will be needed in this venture.
