the spiked chain was shortened so to speak, so its more like a hand held chain. but does the meteor hammer still have reach?
and i may as well ask, does the 1d4 monk weapon from the pathfinder campaign setting ( i forget the name ) have reach?
pps.
the "monk weapons" listed in the campaign setting. they're exotic monk weapons right? monks aren't automatically proficient with them just because they're listed as being monk weapons for the purposes of compatability with the flurry of blows special feature, right? so a monk would have to take exotic weapon proficiency in them to use them without penalty?

Going by the change to the spiked chain a weapon can either have reach or it can attack adjacent targets, but it can not do both anymore.

Yes to all. They are exotic weapons that monks are not proficient in and would need a feat to use without penalty, but if a monk does use them they can flurry with them.

Correction Edit: Previous statement was not taking the "CAMPAIGN SETTING" reference into account. Thank you Abraham! I will leave the list anyway. :P
PFRPG, Monk Class Features... Page 57.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Monks are proficient with the club, crossbow (light or heavy), dagger, handaxe, javelin, kama, nunchaku, quarterstaff, sai, shortspear, short sword, shuriken, siangham, sling, and spear.

see that list? see how its complete ( at the time of printing ) and how other suppliments sometimes publish "monk" weapons? hmmh maybe because they're expanding the list of what monks can use?
Don't know about the campaign setting but in the APG the monks list is expanded slightly. The brass knuckles and cestus, in there description, say that monks are proficient with them. The temple sword on the other hand is an monk weapon with no note about the monk being proficient, so you would have to spend a feat to use it effectively.

One of the PF Companions, I think it's called the Armory, has stats on the Meteor Hammer and other unique weapons. There is also official errata on that supplement on this website somewhere... Anywho, the meteor hammer can be used as both a reach weapon with a bonus to AC, or as an adjacent weapon with a bonus to either disarm or trip, I forget which. Switching between reach function and adjacent function requires a move action (I think). I don't have access to the book at work... can someone who does confirm the official PF statistics?
