Now that the final PFRPG rules are in, I'm interested in taking another shot at running a play-by-post of my own. I wound up biting off more than I could chew with the Planescape game I tried running and writing entirely on my own, so what I'm going to do this time is run mostly published material culled from Dungeon magazine and adapted to the setting, similar to what I've done in the past with a more successful real life campaign, adding my own touches, side plots and alterations.
The score:
I'll need time to review the rules and get things squared away, so I'm looking to start at the beginning of September. I'm most comfortable with 4-6 players, not sure where I would stop for a maximum. Golarion will likely be the setting, characters made with the PFRPG core rules, other sources approved on a case-by-case basis with a preference for Pathfinder stuff. It's not that I don't love your catfolk ninja/psion/ghost faced killer, it's just that I would rather keep things restrained while we're getting used to the rules.
Let me know if you're interested.

Sure thing. So we're half way to full: Mothman, Davi and Radavel signed up, Patrick as an alternate (or late start if we've got room for one more).
If you want to start thinking up concepts, the game will open with everyone either invited to, working at or crashing a Taldane noblewoman's masquerade. Besides servants, guards, nobles, etc. a character affiliated with the Pathfinder society would be a good fit.

Haha! Are you sure my character's not there by invitation?
Sorry been watching Deuce Bigelow....

"A ball? Well, that sounds interesting enough to go to."
In other words, one draconic sorcerer, nearly ready for play.

Okay, so we got six: Mothman, Davi, Radavel, Bryan, Callum and Ragadolf. I hope the rest of you yeggs (Prince That Howls, French Wolf, Patrick) will keep an eye out for if someone needs to bail out because then you'll be in like Flynn. I'll set up a discussion thread for characters when I think of a catchy campaign name.

What's the starting level? How many points for point buy?
I get the feeling that we'll engage in a lot of cloak and dagger stuff.

Start at 1st level, standard point buy (15 points). It's going to be a globe-trotting kind of campaign, throwing you guys from one place to the next. Most of my previous games have settled in one location (The Styes, Sigil, Korvosa, etc.) so I want to get more of a hodge-podge for this one. It'll be a mix, that's for sure and I will try to have something for everyone.

15 point buy? Well, that's depressing. Still, I should be all updated now.

Ragadolf |

Thx James, I'll probably stick with with Wizzie, now for a character concept that fits in with cloak & dagger stuff,... Hm,...
(AND I'm off to ponder just how much I want to annoy my friends, new and old, with this new character's personality,...) ;P
Edit-15pt buy it is. Thank the little internets gods for online SRD's! :)

Holy Crap this filled up quickly!
And this would have been perfect for my Curve Blade wielding Tengu (Bestiary) Warlock (Tome of Secrets) I'm designing! ;)

Explorers of the Inner Sea Discussion Thread is up for character creation. The first six to respond were: Mothman, Davi, Radavel, Callum, Bryan and Ragadolf, so you guys can go ahead and make characters. Everyone else: feel free to follow along and if/when the need for alternates comes up, you'll be the guys I turn to.

Rise, thread and be one with the living!
It looks like Radavel (cleric) and Callum (bard) have dropped out. I'm going to give them a few more days to pipe up but I think it's a good idea to get the ball rolling for our alternates. Prince That Howls was the first alternate, followed by French Wolf. If either or both of you guys aren't interested, we move on to the next responders from way back in August.

Well, I'm curious if you find yourself with some room after alternates. I haven't finished reading the game thread, but I liked the idea of setting the adventure in Taldor.
Radavel's been GM for a pbp I was in for awhile before I had to bow out. I'd hate to step on his toes, or anyone else's for that matter.
Anyhow, I'd be glad to look at stepping in as cleric, or maybe a cleric-fighter to add more muscle. Ranger was another thought, but not a big deal - just thinking of a bowman for this party.
My posting schedule would likely be once or twice a day - in the evenings or early AM by US EST - if it matters. Don't know if that affects how you do the posting action.
I have been reading on the Pathfinder system; really like the channeling ability idea. Anyhow, just throwing in my 2 cents.

Okay, we have snow all over Britain today and that means I'm not quite so busy after all, apart from building a snowman this afternoon.
I had a look at the game and my first thought is I'd like to play a non combat halfling cleric of Desna. Hopefully he can provide some healing to replace the bard and cleric.
Let me know if that fits the bill.
Cheers

James Keegan |

Hey, Alex. I'll add you to the list of alternates. I just want to give people that expressed an interest a few months ago a chance to claim a spot first. Radavel and Callum haven't checked in for a little over a month. I don't know the etiquette and I feel a little bad about it, but it seems like I can safely say they're too busy or just lost interest.
French Wolf: sounds good to me.

James Keegan |

Okay, no one else has stepped forward so Alex is in. In case you haven't read through the campaign the PCs have been invited to or crashed a Taldan noblewoman's masquerade ball in her remote estate. She revealed her latest archeological find: the gilled descendants of lost Azlant. Then all the other guests started tripping and acting like their costumes. Some goblins and fishmen then showed up to collect everyone and head east.

Thanks for the offer!
Yea, I have been reading through some of the details. Not quite finished reading though.
I am thinking cleric or a ranger, seems like you have a little of everything else. But are you partial to anything for story reasons? The other thing I was contemplating was going with a Taldorian native -not sure I can play overly smug though. ;-)
Any thoughts are welcome.
I'll start working on something tonight.
*PS - Any guidelines I should go with? 15 Point buy I saw. Anything special outside of the PFRG as far as traits, skills, or feats. I mean anything like you would find in the Pathfinder Player Guides, etc. I am assuming not.*

FW is doing a halfling cleric; combine that with a human wizard, fighter and sorcerer and a half-elf rogue. It's up to you what you want to play since it seems like a fairly balanced party. Level 1, 15 point buy, two traits, max starting gold. Sources outside of the downloadable PFRPG character traits will be considered before approval.

Hello,
OK - here's the character for your review. Let me know if I need to make some corrections, etc.
Also, some notes/suggestions for you. Please feel free to provide feedback, and changes on how you'd like to handle any of it, if needed.
Once you're OK with it, do you want me to just drop an entry post into the main thread?
Thanks again.

Looks good; the only issue is that your ride, climb and swim is too high. You get that +3 class skill bonus only after you've put a rank in it to reflect that you've been trained.

Ah...got it. OK - it's corrected; also forgot to take in to account his armor penalty for ride anyway.
Would you like me to just jump in, or wait for the cue?
