Think this was just missed in editing. If you read the text for Attacks of Opportunity it talks about threatened squares which are normally adjacent squares.
Unless they intended for pole arms to work as such I'd imagine they just used the word adjacent squares instead of threatened squares unless they want the feat to work when people move through adjacent squares even with reach weapons.
I'd imagine that'll get cleared up with a bit more errata.

I actually was looking for this just a few minutes ago. So far it isn't cleared up; there's neither a ruling fixing the wording nor a ruling supporting it. However, the way its worded in comparison to almost everything else is very different.
I'd like to think they just made an error here, but its such a unique error that I can't tell. Also I can't seem to find any other posts about this issue.
