I'm a young'n of only 18 years, though my mental age tends to fluxuate between 15 and 10,000. I've only been gaming for a year,. so compared to everyone else I'm still in my fetal stage of RPing.
I, Brandon, sone of Sharon, am a full-time college student(meh). as for the "type of person", I am a really multifaceted individual, so very few people get to see the full, unadulterated Brandon but, most see either the hilarious, albeit charming creeper, the morally ambiguous harbinger of neutrality, or the compassionately chaotic lover of fun.
interests...drawing, baking fusing things not meant to be fused, listening to others problems and dragging them back to reality(this is done with much love though), massage, boffing and gaming of course, and writing erotica
I've experienced enough in life to last me a few decades(to my disdain) including, but not limited to: getting a peanut stuck in my right foot, attempting suicide at 12, and the whole high school graduation fiasco (it's a long story)
as far as my play style goes, I love experimenting with the limits of my characters, building personalities based of of those restrictions, then finding the most creative yet plausible actions they are able to perform, leading to rather eccentric characters.
I don't really have a favorite module, per se,
most unbalanced character was a gravity controlling hero in mutants and masterminds, named Winnipetaco

Age: 34
Occupation: Division Director with the Department of Veterans Affairs (I'm a GS-14 for folks that know the rankings; 7 levels down from the President but that's not as impressive as it sounds)
Type of Person: Patient, easy-going, and always ready to help out someone in need.
Interesting Points: I'm a licensed Southern Baptist preacher, though I currently attend an Anglican church. Active in children and youth ministry as well as foreign missions (been to Africa 3 times in the last two years). Converted my wife to gaming, and now our 5-year old son is drawing his own maps and rolling the dice as well. "Published" via several RPGA modules back in the days of Living Greyhawk, Legacy of the Green Regent, and Mark of Heroes.
Gaming Style: Know the rules, use them to tell a good story, and break them when they don't help tell a good story.
Favorite Module ever: X1 - The Isle of Dread. First module I ever played in the early 80's and so still my "first love" of games. I attribute my preference for exploration and such over dungeon-crawling to my start on the Isle. And of course the Savage Tide adventure path was right up my alley...
Most unbalanced character you ran: Hmm, I don't really go for powergaming, so I can't think of any right off hand. I pretty much build a character based on the story I'm trying to tell and don't worry much about damage output or game-breaking combos.

Actually, even in the same company, it can be either. It really depends on both the strength of the Project Manager or the Importance to the Company.
And "Woe" is the Testing Lead for a vital project with a weak manager! :(But, where I was working, more often then not it was an AWESOME job. Were I am working now is not-too-bad-either.
Lord Fyre wrote:He didn't by any chance have a bow, did he? [ooc]:)Most unbalanced character you ran?
Shadowrun A Troll Samurai named "Lucky"...
Nope. A Combat Axe and an Assult Shotgun.

Lord Fyre wrote:Point taken. A character who is a deity probably does qualify as unbalanced. :) Although in the Free-Form game it can be hard to tell.lynora wrote:I don't think I've ever run a truly unbalanced character. Closest I've ever come was in my first 3.5 campaign, a human fighter. Everything about her was straight from the PHB since the only books out at that point were core. Basically every combat boiled down to the rest of the party standing around while Dorian sliced and diced.Well, there is "lynora-Jill" ;D
Actually, given that she likes "The Jacks" means that she is unbalanced in a whole different way.

I enjoy the posts here and am curious about the other posters. I'm guessing most people are older...
Age?
I'm a twenty-two-year-old ne'er-do-well punk rocker. Honestly, I'm amazed that I've lived to be as old as I am.
Occupation?
Hmmm... Right now, I'm a station attendant/cashier/janitor at a Sunoco station in the wasteland of northern New York. On the side, I'm a low-rent artist and musician. I'm currently enrolled as a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Long commute, eh?
Type of Person?
I'm a misanthropic jerk with severe anger issues. Thankfully, I'm in a stable relationship with a great girl who can sit me down, shut me up, tell me ten things I don't know, and make me laugh. She even plays D&D.
Interesting Points?
I'm cheap. Not that I won't pay for stuff, it's just that I don't cost much. If they can't get Rone Barton, James Keegan, or Hugo Solis, they call me. I make s~+*ty, weird artwork, strange electronica, and play guitar poorly. I also have very strange taste in music.
Gaming Style?
Very story-oriented. I tend to play strange, off-the wall characters and give the DM nosebleeds. The other players usually have fun, though.
Favorite Module ever?
Hmmm... Probably The Whispering Cairn. I don't really play a lot of published adventures.
Most unbalanced character you ran?
It would definitely have to be Daniel, a celestially-infused paladin with every magic item known to man. Basically the stereotypical paladin, but turned up to eleven. Rather than make me turn down the volume on my character, however, the DM simply made the monsters tougher, and let the other PCs beef up for free. Now, we're running a functionally epic-level campaign at about level 16.

Age?
39, D&D player since 1979.
Occupation?
Manager of a New York style deli sandwich shop.
Type of Person?
I used to be a very bad person, but I'm much better now..
Interesting Points?
My past was "adventurous", to say the least. The most interesting thing about me now is, well, nothing, really.
Gaming Style?
If I like the people playing, I'll go along with whatever style is going on. When I DM, I tend towards open ended sandbox play, letting the players explore things in their own way at their own pace, no strings, no rails.
Favorite Module ever?
N1, Cult of the Reptile God. The paranoia level and the almost Logue-esque level of depravity of the villains made for a great game experience.
Most unbalanced character you ran?
I dont think I've ever run a character that over the top, actually. I was never a big "Monty Haul" guy back in the day, and I don't really look for broken stuff nowadays. I do tweak a bit, maybe min/max a bit, but nothing too queso filled...

4. Former high school teacher.
5. Like James Bond in fantasy land.
6. Return to the Tomb of Horrors, by Bruce Cordell -- because I finally made it through the Tomb (lost a lot of characters to the original S1!).

I am a 35 year old male. I sell furniture for a living. I am the type of person who hasn't decided what I want to do when I grow up, but it sure as hell isn't sales. I don't have too many interesting points, my gaming style is to have fun and make sure the entire group has fun. My favorite module ever is the original Ravenloft--I got it for my birthday when I was ten. And the most unbalanced character I ever played was a swordsage, straight out of the Bo9S.

Age?
33, and feeling younger (Or somebody can say inmature) every year ^_^
Occupation?
I.T. Professional
Type of Person?
Fat with great glasses and really an odd fashion taste. I think I'm the standard geek.
Interesting Points?
Great interest in gaming in general and in roleplaying in particular.
Gaming Style?
I not dislike any style in particular, but I usually run thing "by the book" (If a game is narrative or simulationist or favor delving I use that.)
Favorite Module ever?
Masks of Nyarlathotep.
Most unbalanced character you ran?
A 101 years old human bard, puppeteer and iliterate (And in AD&D it also meaned he cannot cast spells). Ah, and his only positive bonusses were Charisma related.
Nobody expected to him to reach 7th level... and to my knowledge is still alive somewhere... It was an experiment to run a character that can ONLY be roleplayed (Str 6 if i recall correctly) it was useless in combat. I generated it trying to hamper it and do his life as difficult as posible, trying to make a point whith my DM that he was too generous making rerolls in ability scores.
It's somewhat ironic it was the most loved character I ran. Always making a Joke and proving my youngster comrades that it's not always late to make a live worth living. Also he always insisted in do some representations to entertain the kids in all the villages we stay :)

Age: 36
Occupation: Teacher, chef, tinker, soldier; I have been all in my short life.
Type of person: It's complicated. I could tell you but then I'd have to kill you.
Interesting Points: I watched President Clinton have a beer once. I was on duty, so I couldn't join him.
Gaming Style: I like to think of myself as a roleplayer, but some people in my group prefer the term drama queen.
Favorite Module: Temple of Elemental Evil
Must Unbalanced Character: I played a duskblade one time named Siloquia Duskdragon. She carried a flaming longsword and loved to use arcane channeling to send shocking grasp through it. When Shocking Grasp capped out she was inflicting 1d8+6d6 damage with each blow. But she still was not the most devestating character in our group.

Occupation Police Officer (Sergeant)
Type of Person Nice to animals
Interesting Points I have mild OCD and a vast painted miniature collection which has cost me thousands! I have my own website for gaming www.friendsoftheotyugh.com
Gaming Style Always a DM
Favorite Module ever Either City of the Spider Queen (D&D 3rd Edition) or The old D&D 'G' series. Currently running Rise of the Runelords and just about to finish the Hook Mountain Massacre. Now that is fun!
Most unbalanced character you ran Always a DM, always making my PCs balanced :)

Interesting Points? um... points? no more rounded.
Gaming Style? More story and character driven, less fighting for fight sake.
Favorite Module ever?
Most unbalanced character you ran? I'd have to say a vampire named Felix. I modeled him half off of normal vampire stuff but through in a bunch of Jason in there. Very bloody character.
Panda40
Age? 40, of course. :)
Occupation? Writer, Corporate Communications - write speeches for executives, etc. for a large non-financial company…I am also a screenwriter with one script optioned (but never filmed alas) and have done some comic book work which you can check out at www.swordandpaper.com.
Type of Person? Ex-geek who got back into RPG's in a big way with Pathfinder about three months ago. I'm just back from my first Gen Con and I had a blast.
Interesting Points? Traveled overland throughout Africa for 16 weeks before going to grad school. Blame it on reading too much Hemingway.
Gaming Style? More story and character driven, less fighting for fight sake. I like to play wizards so I roll less often - which I suck at....
Favorite Module ever? Burnt Offerings - just finshed playing that today...amazing stuff!

Age: side-ways 8

Type of Person: Hard core geek; so geeky that other geeks and nerds say, wow that one is a geek.
Interesting Points: I have had sex with a: white, black, japanese, chinese, korean, mexican, indian, slovic, and a viking. One at a time.
Type of Person: Curious, Charismatic
Gaming Style: Old School
Favorite Module ever: Tower of Inverness
Most unbalanced character: AD&D Thief, Magic-User, Drow Elf. Died falling 95' down a mine shaft, while trying to steal from bad guys, while using the kidnapping of an innocent as a distraction. Stupid dice.
ChrisRevocateur
Age? 24
Occupation? Technically: Burglary Alarm Dispatcher, Actually: Musician, Social Activist, and Carpenter.
Type of Person? Not exactly sure what you're askin here. I'm an anarchist, a punk rocker, a metalhead, a hippie, a socialist, a stoner, a drinker, a partier, a social activist, a carpenter, a rebel, a musician, a vocalist, a modern primitivist, an a#@&&%@, and many other things, but any one particular type doesn't apply to me in entirety, and never will.
Interesting Points? I currently have a knee injury that keeps me from doing many things that keep me sane.
Gaming Style? A healthy mix of Role and Roll playing, though I will gladly sacrifice the Roll in favor of the Role.
Favorite Module ever? Never really played or DM'd modules, always did my own adventures. That being said, I was REALLY enamoured of the Shackled City AP, and I'm gonna be running that for some friends here soon.
Most unbalanced character you ran? I never really got into the monty haul kind of stuff, but I was a MASTER min/maxer in 2nd edition, especially once the Player's Option stuff came out, and one character started out rather monty haul because of the DM. I had a character with a samurai concept (he was a Ranger with the Samurai kit from Complete Fighter and the Dragonslayer kit from Council of Wyrms meshed into one). I started out at level 1 with some awesome Dragon Slaying gear (stuff a 20th level DragonSlayer would KILL to get his hands on), but it ONLY had its bonuses against dragons. Not my fault I had it, my DM said it was my family daisho and ancestral armor. (I think in 3.x, he would have made them legacy weapons). He went on to rise to godhood in the Forgotten Realms (having wandered there from Kara-Tur) as the demigod of Honor and Dragon Slaying., as well as having taken over both Calimshan and Tethyr, making them a single country, imported a ninja clan and declared independence from his daimyo.
Long live Yokozuna Enyago (when I named the character, I had no idea what Yokozuna meant, I just liked the name)!!!

Age: 26
Occupation: US Army Information Technology Specialist
Type of Person: Must we use labels? :) Gamer, most definately, of console and tabletop variety. Bookworm, geek, moderate in thought and action.
Interesting Points: 8 year military veteran with 4 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Gaming Style: Tactical. Working on my role-playing skills, but I still love the a complex fight.
Favorite Module ever: Not having played in many, I guess Shackled City would count?
Most unbalanced character you ran: VoP Monk in Red Hand of Doom. Only played one session, but was only challenged by the dire boar and wyvern riding barabarian.
Faux Real
Age: 31
Occupation: Theatrical Director, Actor
Type of Person: According to most Myers-Briggs type tests I have taken, I am what is known as an INTJ, and frankly I tend to agree with the general analysis of the type. See wikipedia for more info.
Interesting Points: In my spare time I write adventure novels.
Gaming Style: I'm a Dungeon Master, and I like running games where the threat of death is very real, and the villains are incredibly smart (if deluded.) I always let the dice fall where they may.
Favorite Module Ever: The Temple of Elemental Evil
Most Unbalanced Character You Ever Ran: Not a character per se, but I'd have to say that the Swords of Kyuss from Age of Worms are way more difficult than their challenge rating gives them credit for. Also: the Mother Worm.
