PfRPG release and Amazon.co.uk (Edit: and weight)

Customer Service

I don't know if anyone can answer this, but I thought I'd try anyway.
My fellow (local) gamers and I have decided to order the PfRPG book from Amazon.co.uk, since, with shipping and everything, it appears to be the cheapest deal (I'll personally subscribe to the RPG line once the main book is released so I can choose to start with the Bestiary and DM Screen, but that's beside the point).
One thing that made me pause a bit, though, was when I saw the release date on Amazon.co.uk.
September 2nd...
Both Amazon.de and Amazon.com have August 19th as their release dates.
Could this simply be an outdated release date? Or might it actually be right?
I know that Amazon get their books through the usual retailer channels, I just found it odd that the dates are different.

EDIT:
Another question.
I'm also trying to figure out some shipping costs and I was wondering whether you have the exact weight of the PfRPG book?

I was wondering about that too, also ordered it but got wondering if they're doing a bulk buy and put the date back so they can get as many copies as possible for a low enough price even with shipping so its worth them making that deal.

Will check up here later to see if anyone can answer these queries.

As joke, I'll say:

"It's a book pre-order from Amazon, so why does the release date mater to you? You won't be seeing it till December after all!" :D

Well I can answer what CustServ sent to me when I asked why I had to get expensive expedited shipping to NZ for my order. The reason given was that they are unable to use standard USPS because the book weighed over the 4lb limit. SO it is more than 4lb! I also had it pre-ordered from Amazon.com (was going to do what you are doing but I decided I wanted it ASAP and went with the.. more expensive but with PDF and faster..subscription). Now I know this is not 100% relevant to .co.uk deliveries to UK but the pre-order with .com didn't add any extra for bulky weight of the Core Book with my, now cancelled, order. Also there seems to be no mention extra shipping cost on the .co.uk website for heavy and bulky items...it does mention that on .com site.

So all in all I would say buying as you are the far cheapest option, especially if you can wait a couple of days and go for super saver delivery. BTW I lived in the UK for 13 years and was a prolific Amazon.co.uk buyer... still am but now it is .com ;-)

Okay, if the weight is 4 lbs. per book, that changes the situation quite a bit.
Then our plan with Amazon.co.uk isn't feasible any longer. We planned to have it shipped, with free shipping, to a friend of mine in the UK and then have him ship it to us here in Denmark. That way we didn't have to pay the Danish VAT, which Amazon has to put on because of its annual sales numbers. But with 4 lbs. a book, he'd have to split it up in 3 separate packages (we're ordering 6 books).
After doing some more research tonight, with my buddy Gworeth from the boards, we found another site where the shipping was cheaper (£0,99 per item) and they don't need to add the Danish VAT either.
If that one falls through, though, it's actually cheaper for us to have it shipped from Amazon.com, with expedited shipping, even with Danish VAT.
Gotta love the low dollar. :-D
We're buying the pdf here from Paizo, of course.

We have no insight into why Amazon displays the dates that it does. The book trade release date is August 19, since they release on Wednesdays, and that's the first Wednesday after the actual release date of August 13. Perhaps Amazon UK thinks they won't have until later.

The book itself weighs about 4 lbs, 3 ounces. (Plus packing materials, of course.)

If we have subscribed, do you plan to deliver the book before Amazon ?

Lol! That's potentially very true - and the best jokes usually are!

If you've subscribed, they intend to get the book to you as close as possible to the official launch date of August 13th.

Correct. We're starting to ship today, with the furthest addresses shipping out first, and the nearer addresses going out over the next week or so.

The Exchange

I presume they are sourcing the stock from the US and then have to ship it over to the UK warehouses, probably process it a bit, and so on. Given that postage from the US by Paizo is unlikely to be a lot quicker I don't really see that as much of an issue. I too have ordered mine from Amazon as paying $50 for postage was a bit too much for me as I could have it postage free (if a bit later).

Sovereign Court

I have one on order from Amazon..and a second coming via Esdevium to my FLGS(along with a massive order of other Paizo products.. essentially every module, AP and book I don't already have)..it'll be interesting to see which arrives first.
