For the live action verison of Green Lantern, they've apparently already cast Ryan Reynolds is the title role. I'm assuming he'll play Hal Jordan.

I was hoping he wouldn't get it. I'm much more excited about him going as Deadpool then anything from DC >_<

Yeah I agree. How's that gonna work having him play two different comic characters from two different companies???
I really don't see RR as the Hal Jordan type. He would suit Kyle Rayner better, although I still don't think he's right for the part(s).Oh and I am soooooooooooo looking forward to the Deadpool Movie! ;)

I agree with everything you just said ... especially the Deadpool movie part :D
I hope this doesn't push back the DP movie >_>

All internet rumor at this point. But from what I hear Renolds doing Green Lantern has pushed back Deadpool indefinitly.
Next movie in the X-Men franchise will either be Origins:Wolverine 2, Origins:Magneto, or a movie about Xavier's first class (young Cyclops, Young Jean, Young Storm, Young Beast and Emma Frost)
Green Lantern is one of my favorite DC characters...as opposed to Deadpool who I never even really heard of until the Wolverine movie came out this year.
To me he was the guy with the swords. No different than the guy with the guns, the teleporting guy, or the hobbit with the lightbulb.
When I later heard he was getting his own movie I was like "HUH?"...then did my research.
So this is all good news to me.

I'm the opposite. I knew about Deadpool back in the day from the comics. Always loved him and he was always a great character. Reynolds did a great job on him for just the little bit he was in it. I knew he would though since he did a similar style of behavior as Hannibal King in Blade 3.
As for DC comics go ... Batman's the only guy I could get into.

Same here Misery. Only DC guy I go to is The Flash (and as a by product the Speedster Family and Rogues). His comics were the first I ever collected and I had all but 6 issues of Wally's run up until the time I stopped collecting a year ago.
Deadpool however I have followed since his first mini series (I had a chance to pick up the X-Force he debuted in but the guy wanted $120 bucks for it!)! He comes that close to being equal contender for #1 spot with The Flash he could be jumpin' on Flash's back!So I am saddened by the news that the Deadpool movie will be pushed back in favour of Green Lantern... :(
P.S. I just hope all those rumours about there being a Flash movie in the works aren't all bullsh!t either.

Wally West Flash was one of the first comcis I've ever collected from issue #1. I've always loved the character. Of course, I'm a fan of many other comcis characters as well. Including Deadpool. I can't believe someone wanted to charge you $120 dollars for that X-Force first appearance. Now I'll have to wonder if my own copy isn't worth that much.....

Let me check my comics as soon as I'm up and mobile, I'll see if I still have those X-force books.
Favourite Deadpool line. *double impales Wolverine* "I left my heat and lungs in SanFrancisco!"

That would be a WIN WIN for me. I love Nathan Fillion and would still go see the movie (even if I don't like the green lantern) for him. PLUS Deadpool wouldn't get pushed back T_T

It will be like casting James Marsden in Superman Returns. My brother and I spent the whole movie asking each other why he didn't just blasy Lex Luther with his optic blasts.

Marsden was not bad he just wasn't any good and they already had someone who was a good Superman they just were not smart enough to use him. Tom Welling should be wearing the cape after all these years.

Heh, Steve Schend send me that about 2 months ago and we both thought it was great. Although I had no objections to the guy that played Kirk in Star Trek either.

I was pretty bummed by this. Nothing against Ryan Reynolds, and as others have said, great guy to play Deadpool, but not Hal Jordan.
Hal was always kind of the straight man to the more comically gifted metahumans he ran with, not really the guy you want be portrayed by a guy know for being irreverent.
Its even more disappointing given that, from what I've heard, the Green Lantern script that got green lit (heh) is drawing heavily from Emerald Dawn, which is probably the best thing they could have done for the film (especially if they play up Sinestro as a tutor and then use him for a villain later on).
Maybe he can pull it off, but I swear sometimes it feels like Warner Bros. says, "Hm, everything is about to fall into place, so we'd better act now to screw this project up."
Further Off Topic Rant:
Did I mention the fact that I really hated the fact that instead of Clark Kent we got an actor playing Christopher Reeve playing Clark Kent?

In an Alternate Universe; Superman lobotomizes villians; including Luther with his heat vision. In that world Sups rules with an iron fist of ...justice? so that is why our Sups doesnt do it; he has seen to many alternate realities. Now; in the Legion of Superheroes with Superboy; Sups uses his heat vision all the time to cut off robots arms and legs and such. And, in the Justice League comics where they go back in time to fix where some villain went back and America Lost WWII (with WonderWoman; Flash, GL and Hawkgirl), Sups uses his heat vision to blow at lot of aircraft out of the sky.
