I've had a very hectic day today, so I'm sorry I haven't had an opportunity to reply just yet. I'll write up a response after a few hours work, and hopefully Faysal can get in a post before I get back.
Sorry for any delays, I made a post. You guys are free to forge on if I'm slacking, just assume Faysal is doing something incredibly awesome 'behind the scenes' :P
Gregory Thrune
One thing to note for Gregory and his player:
I am not under the assumption that I know everyone automatically. I wish to RP those situations out, it feels like DM fiat to just say "you all know each other." I understand that was not the intent, the DM is doing what they feel needs to be done, there can be no fault there.
I feel it creates a situation in which RP potential is lost.
Gregory did introduce himeself to everyone before he began the investigation of the wagon, that was not redundancy; it was his RP to all involved and his formal greeting.
If there are dissenting or agreeing views, feel free to discuss matters, I am open for any kind of discussion.
Jakari
In general, I’d agree with you… but in this case there’s been over a week of travelling together during which I’d guess some form of introduction would have been made. I’m not saying we know each other well, but my assumption would be that there’s been at least a conversation or two during the trip.

I understand your viewpoint and can vouch for its applicability.
I only disagree with the implementation of the "introductions" which were not in the PC's control, they were assumed to have happened.
Such is the way at times, this is simply my formal disagreement.
I can go with knowing names, possibly forgetting them along the way. It is Gregory's custom to introduce himself only when necessary, he is working behind the scenes if able. It's a trait he developed over time in the Nightstalls, he's quite gregarious but only with those he forms a non-business relationship with.

I'm sorry for the lateness all. My mother has had a stroke and I've been busy caring for her since she's come home from the hospital. I should have enough time to get up a post either tonight or tomorrow morning.
Again, I apologize for my lateness. =[
Take care of your business.
Family comes first, in almost any instance (barring end of the world scenario). Do what you need, I'll support you. I imagine everyone else would as well.

Oh that's terrible news! I hope she is well (at least well enough after having a stroke). Take your time, we can wait a little longer.

I'm sorry to hear that. No need to apologise, take all the time you need.
I hope your mother's recovery goes well.

No need to apologize, my dad has had a couple of minor strokes before and speaks with a slur. Take care of your mom and I will include her in my prayers.
Gregory; if you want to do introductions, I have no problem with that. Maybe your character didn't socialize with us. Whatever floats your boat.

My intent was to not have Gregory be sociable at first, such is his way.
Oh, I have no boat, it's been sunk.

Okay, I just got back from work and I am completely tired out. I'll try to get up a post tonight for you guys, if not tomorrow morning for sure. We need to get this show on the road - investigating is only fun for so long I'm guessing, haha! xP
And thank you for all the wishes and prayers, she's doing much better. She can talk pretty much just fine and think coherently, the only problem at the moment is movement in the left side of her body. But even that is better - it looks like she'll make a full recovery soon enough. =]
DM Kin
Picture time! I wanted to upload these to show you guys - adds a bit of flavor to the campaign.
Almah (full)
Almah (head)
Garavel (head)
Dashki
Sorry about the poor quality of the fullshot of Almah and her headshot. Apparantly this princess likes to have random colors outline her regal figure. =/
Gregory Thrune
That helps a lot. I imagined garavel as a fat man with jowels and such. Dashki was a small and sniveling guy.
Dashki especially, now he seems like super suspectful and capable in battle as well.
Garavel must have a scimitar and wield magic, that's what he looks like anyway.

That's great news! I'm glad to hear it, keep us apprised of how things come along.
By the way, thanks for the pictures they really help to imagine the NPCs. Dashki looks awesome! Almah seems very strong willed and Garavel appears stern. I like them!

Good to hear your mum's looking better.
I'd actually imagined Dashki with a big bushy beard and wild hair for some reason... are these the pictures in the AP?
Am I the only one who's been struck with the thought that Almah might have had a "will no-one rid me of this troublesome priest?" moment with Eloais and Dashki?
DM Kin
No problem, I often use that expression myself and I definitely didn't take it that way. Yes, Chance most definitely did not seem to notice Dashki was lying or not. Which probably means he's telling the truth. I'll be sure to clarify in future posts, alright? =]
Also, those are the pictures provided in the AP. So consider them canon. :P
DM Kin
Continued on Michael, perhaps there's something for Faysal to work with now. =]
And wow, lots of important information in this post. For both groups investigating.
Have we lost Gerr along the way? Hasn't posted in awhile. Though I did have a group of five for this very reason, in case we lost a player partway through. D:
EDIT: NEVERMIND! Gerr has posted. =D
Gregory Thrune
Chance and DM Kin:
One thing I wish to clear up: A metagame issue or an assumption by myself or Chance.
After a good ten minutres of searching, they discern there is no evidence of a hole anywheres near the deathsite. But Gregory and his keen eyes notice a trail of tiny footprints leading away from the wagon and into the surrounding wastelands.
Does Chance assume Gregory told him of the tracks and he then raced off OR does Chance assume the character saw the tracks and reacted to them. It may have been a misreading.
The one thing I don't like is when I lose RP opportunities, which to me, the scenario with chance in post 79 does. If it's nothing, then I withdraw my comments. If it is an issue, I would seek that it is resolved.I cannot post anything concerning the tracks until this is clarified.
I have no desire to cause issue, these are my thoughts.
DM Kin
You can go ahead and write a post where Gregory informs the others of his discovery if you wish, just put in OOC that it happened before Chance went over to Jakari.
It's alright though, all just a misunderstanding. =]
Chance LOF
Sorry about stepping on your RP toes, but I didn't think finding tracks was that big of a RP opportunity. You don't like to lose RP opportunities and I don't like to lose time advancing the plot. PBP moves slow enough as it is. You will notice, when I got to Jakari I posted "will wait politely while he finishes talking to the old man" to allow him the RP opportunity. Talking with an NPC, yes. A really interesting bit of information I judge your character might not reveal, yes. But tracks... sorry, I didn't see it.
Pacific time zone (Oregon), usually available on weekends. However, I keep non-standard hours and am available from 11am-4pm(my time) mon-thur, 11am and on fri.
DM Kin
Haha, Gregory, it took me until now to understand your latest post in this thread! Wow, I'm slow. D:
I was thinking more along the lines whether I should post updates at certain times or not, but an online conference might still happen. Though it looks like it would be a bit difficult, everyone's a bit spread out.
And that's fine Chance, we don't want to RP out every little detail. Like you said, PBPs always move sluggishly slow.
Gregory Thrune
Fair enough on both ends (chance and dm kin). I am a heavy RPer so I will reign myself in and try to move the story along. If this pace is the norm for PBP I will create combat monkeys or shells without personality. If I don't do so, I will likely misinterpret intentions as I did earlier.
Gregory will be far more story based from now on, I will try at least.
DM Kin
Oops, I think I misworded what I meant to say in my previous message. If you feel like you want to RP out a certain instance - by all means, do it! It adds flavor to the game and stops it from being a mindless trudge forward through battle after battle.
But keep in mind not to RP every little teeny tiny last detail. The part with the tracks was fine to RP out, there was just a misunderstanding in whether to RP or not. Otherwise the PBP goes even slower than usual.
Don't make Gregory a mindless shell! I quite enjoy his interactions with the characters thus far and consider his actions intelligible and well-thought out. It's a pleasure, really to read his posts. And all of yours, I've already grown attatched to this litte band of adventurers. :)
You don't have to reign Gregory in at all, just don't RP out everything. Keep it at a healthy medium, like you were before. The tracks would probably be the minimum to play out, alright? =]

Ditto. I think it's more fun for everyone that way, and all of you are in a PBP anyways. It's meant to be slow, haha. ;D
When we signed on for a PBP we knew it would be slower, I don't mind the pace and have enjoyed things so far. I'm curious to find out who the culprit is and what the Paizo team has in store for us but I don't want to rush through everything with no chance to react (or act, whatever the case may be).
Chance LOF
I will voice the other side of the issue. I once was following a pbp game(Rise of the Runelords) on another website and calculated that it would take them 18 YEARS to complete the adventure path at their current rate of progress. If we try to RP every little thing, we too will get bogged down in minutia and get no where.
Don't get me wrong, important scenes and issues need to be RPed, and I realize that at the start of the game characters are being established and such. So really, the issue is, What is important enough to RP and what should be "1 posted"/hand waved. We all want clean air/water, but we disagree on how best to accomplish that goal and how clean is clean. In the same vein, there is slow and there is SSSSSLLLLOOOOWWWW.

Hey guys, I'm sorry for the late response but things with my mother are getting complicated again - now she might have to have surgery, and work has been kicking my sorry butt.
I'll definitely have a post up before I go to sleep tonight though... =]
Oh no! I hope things go well for you mother, surgery can be very trying.
DM Kin
Things are a bit busy here still, though it actually may be cancer now. She's undergoing surgery soon for a sample, and then everything will be a lot more clear.
I'm still planning on continuing this thread, I just hate that something like this had to pop up so early on. I apologize to all of you for the long break, I only can hope that the modern miracles of medicine will shorten the time you guys have to wait.

Don't worry about it Kin, I just hope that modern medicine can perform some miracles for you and your mother. Taking care of her and yourself should be top priority right now.

Dude, I been through the cancer experience with my parents. Take all the time you need and don't think for a moment about us. You need to do what you need to do and we'll understand. When everything is better, you come back and we'll be here.
