Per TMZ:

We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived.

Full details here.

Can´t really believe that - it is a shocking surprise.
If it is true, rest in peace.

Stefan

From what I can tell, the paramedics were able to revive him. But I might be wrong.

Apparently he was actually rushed to an hospital and was in coma, but is still alive, at the moment i am writing this.

I'm still waiting for another source beside TMZ. Not that I don't trust them , but they are the only source for the story. I'd rather wait to have a statement from the hospital or his spokesperson.

I think perhaps he has just been hospitalized

While we are on this kind of news, i didn't see a thread about Farrah Fawcett, who passed away today.
One of Charlie's Angels actually became one.
Rest in Peace, Farrah.

Speaking Farrah Fawcett passing away today...

My mind sometimes wanders to strange places and looks for connections at times like this.

Tatum O'neal was once good friends with MJ, and stripped naked before him at age 19, only to be turned down with a request for continued friendship. Her father Ryan was Farrah's long time lover.

So if MJ passed today, Tatum has two people to mourn.

RIP one and all.

Okay as of 3:15 PM Pacific Time, the L.A. Times cites law enforcement sources and say that Michaekl has indead died.

Here

He is dead. On NBC news.

Scarab Sages

Yeap.

We are getting live feeds from CNN and they are saying the same thing.

Damn.

I just told my wife seconds ago and the news upset her.

Wow.

I can't beleive it, my girlfriend is distraught. We now live in a world without Michael Jackson.

Liberty's Edge

Damn, 50 is way too young for the King of Pop to have passed on. : /

I wonder if the fact that he was so underweight contributed to his death at such a young age.

Thank you Seldriss, I know I've been through this before so if I ask again in a few months just pat me on the head and show me again.

Michael and Farrah in the same day, I truly feel old now.

I don't think he's truely "dead". This is but the first step in the apocalypse.

CNN is on the phone with the L.A. Coroner at the moment, confirming the death.

I am so in shock over this...

I grew up on Michael's Music, I was such a huge fan of his, all the way through the release of Bad.

I still get excited when I see his old live performances on TV. Like when he first introduced the moon walk.. that is classic MJ and I still get excited when I see it.

His later oddities tarnished his latter career for myself, but never tarnished the greatness he was in the 80s.

Rest in Peace Micheal

Yeah, it's a shock.

I think I love the Thriller video as much today as I did back then.

I never cared much for the man, personally. But I know he brought happiness to many people and I respect that.

Liberty's Edge

I always liked, well - loved his music, and grew up within a world where MJ was the only REAL superstar!
I've never seen him live on stage (which I regred), and wasn't an über-fan.
But now I know how people felt when Elvis died, and why they grieved.
I can't say why, but it hurts me that he's gone.
RIP

He was very talented, and left behind some impressive music.

R.I.P.

The Exchange

I was shocked to hear this on the radio this morning. Some of the stuff he did was pure pop genius and we should celebrate that. It's a shame he is now better know for his problems and demons.

Scarab Sages

To be honest, I had forgotten he was still alive. Of course, I agree with many that he was a musical genius and entertainer of the highest caliber. I've often heard that his concerts were extremely bad ass.

I still remember the world premier of the Thriller video. I was geeking out when I heard Vincent Price's voice.

Anyway - R.I.P. Mr. Jackson.

I'm really glad to see that others are upset about his death. It was kind've weird in my office. After the announcement of his death, there were a few comments about his nose, and then people started dancing around the office, singing his songs. At that moment, I couldn't decide if people were celebrating his music, or the fact that he died.

Personally, I always loved the man's music, even when it wasn't popular. I don't know how the world will remember him, but regardless, I will always remember him for his music. Rest in peace, Michael. We will miss you.

I'm sorry, but I'm not too heart broken than an unrepetent child molestor has died. Now he'll get to see what Jesus really thought about his "Jesus Juice". I like several of his earlier songs and I still listen to them. And I am not going to celebrate his death, as the death of any human is not something to be celebrated, but neither am I going to hold him up as a better person than he was just because he died.

I'd like to believe he was acquitted because he was innocent, and so I give him the benefit of the doubt.

Him and OJ, both.

pres man wrote:

Difference being, Ron Goldman didn't stand up in court and say "OJ never killed me: see, I'm not dead." With the victims unable to talk, it's easier for reasonable doubt to creep in.

OTOH, didn't that McLucky Cluckin kid say "never happened," about MJ? And doesn't that kid have enough money from Home Alone I - XXVI that he's unlikely to take bribes to lie about it?

I'm not saying that MJ didn't do it, just that it's more than a bit presumptive to avow he did.

Wow...nobody saw that comparison coming. Nope; not at all.

I hope for your sake you're never acquitted of something, only to find you never recover from the damage wrought by every random person who is "sure" you're guilty. You know, 'cause OJ did it, so you must have.

Classy.

Absolutely.

I'm proud to say that I don't take well to people presuming others are guilty of horrible crimes (despite acquittal), and then gloating when those people die.

But YMMV (obviously).

I am not gloating. I am sorry you feel so strongly about this situation that you can not see that. As for presuming guilt, Jackson did in 1994 setting a civil suit for the first accusation, paying the child and his family and their lawyers $22 million. While that is not necessarily a claim of guilt, it does make innocence look questionable.

Oh please; keep your disingenuous "apology" to yourself. Further, your assertions of the strength (or lack thereof) of my feelings are irrelevant, serving only to distract from the matter at hand (which was no doubt intended).

I don't care about Micheal Jackson in particular, but he was acquitted. To me, that means something. You've obviously made up your mind he was guilty. Good for you. But saying that now he's going to get what's coming to him:

pres man wrote:

is gloating, plain and simple. And it was tasteless, rude, and unnecessary to come into this thread and do it.

I'm "sorry" if pointing that out makes you uncomfortable.

Fellas, why the need to argue?

Would you we willin' to come on my show and talk about this?

I'm sorry, and I'm sure you mean well, but some things just aren't laughing matters. Popping into a RIP thread and gleefully exclaiming the deceased is now going to get what's coming to him just ain't OK.

Sorry Bugley, just thought I'd attempt some humor.

No, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you. I think I need to step away from the computer for a bit.

No problem. Sometimes we all need a break from that leering, one-eyed taskmaster.

That's what I call my junk.

Damn. That's right. I have two such taskmaskters. Well, at least I'm only connected physically to one of them, but my wife might say at this point I'm connected to both.

LOL. At this point meaning, right this second? ;)

Well Paizo is a damn sexy site. I can't blame ya.

No...not this moment. She's at work! But yesterday, "Are you talking to your game friends...again?"

Re Jade on the Site: That's true, but there's sexy, and then there's SEXY. It's best not to get the two confused. (Cf. My posting about "monsters" yesterday.)

So noted! ;)

He faked his death.

Liberty's Edge

In my circles I barely ever caught word of him in recent years. Lots of people are rallying in tribute, for certain.

It was shame seeing a bright career suffer the way it did, but he certainly left his mark.
