Mmm. French toast. I rarely get to have french toast. For some reason the kidlet doesn't like it, and the husband is an annoyingly picky eater. It's no fun making dinner when it's going to be critiqued the whole time.
Just do what Solnes does when I pick at what she cooked...

Well hell Darlin', hit him with the pan, eat your french toast, and when he wakes up from the coma tell him to fix himself a PB&J. This was Solnes advice BTW. :/

I've never had that happen, but my wife has thrown dinner away and told me to cook my own damn food. That was not a good night.

LOL. When we first got married she couldn't cook. so the first meal she fixed was Pork Chops, Mashed taters, corn, etc. Knowing how much I eat she made this big family pack of chops, and it looked and smelled fantastic! She fixed my plate and everything.:D
Then we started eating.... I think she used every bit of salt we had in those chops, and when she tasted them she looked like she wanted to cry, so to make her feel good about dinner I told her they were great, better than moms even. And I ate them all... with a gallon of tea of course. Never doubt my love for her. ;)
*She has gotten 1000 times better since.

You're a nice guy, Moorluck. No matter what Sharoth says about you. :)

lol. I think everyone has those cooking moments. When I got married I couldn't boil water. Which was doubly hilarious if you know that I'd been baking cookies and pies and such since I was eleven without adult supervision. But my parents had this ancient stove and the stovetop didn't work right so I was never allowed to use it. I could only cook things that went in the oven. It was an...interesting learning process. :)

Ugh, I hated those chops, and he ate liek 4 or 5 of them. Poor guy. However, one of my fave stories. :)
I do also appreciate him saying that I do now know how to cook. It took a couple years and a lot of help from his mom, but I do believe I am more than decent in a kitchen.
In fact, I was thinking that my next day off is going to be meatball subs, homemade. Alas, I am not off again till Thursday,. so I picked up stuff for this "thing" I stumbled upon when broke an needing t be creative.
You take breakfast sausage, in the tubey thing, and brown it. Boil rice and warm corn. Then throw it all in a dish with some cheddar cheese and bread crumbs and bake. Everyone loved it. The kids devoured it and Moorluck had like thirds of it. I was pleasantly surprised. But it is very easy to make so he can do it after a long day at work.
I also picked up a beef roast that I am trying to figure out what to do with. Any suggestions besides the typical roast?

Do you have a crock pot or a bread machine? Those are great! I love making my cinamon Rasin bread with the bread machine. I just get creative. Add some almonds, walnuts, almond extract, golden raisins and a few other "extras". As for the crock pot, I make a nice semi-home made spagetti sauce. Beef stew is good as is some other things.

Similar to the sausage dish that you described, I like to get some chicken-flavored rice (Uncle Ben's or Rice-a-Roni seems to work best), with a can of whole kernel corn and two or three scrambled eggs. It was a cheap dish my mother used to make, and she occasionally threw in chopped up breakfast sausage, so your dish made me think of it. I've made it on occasion.

Moorluck and Solnes, if / when I get the time (and money) to come up there, then I will bring my bread machine, my crockpot, and the ingediants for my spagetti sauce and cinamon raisin bread. ~grins~ I have the BIG crock pot, so there will be enough for everyone. Plus I can make some good garlic bread, if you all like garlic.

We do indeed love garlic bread, although I am a fan of garlic period. And as for cooking for one, if we have you and Taig, there will be 7 of us, including teh kids, who would never forgive us if we shipped them off when their fave Dragon and Badger came for a visit. :)
