Gygaxian Fantasy Worlds

General Discussion (Prerelease)

I have been toying with the idea of buying these books. My question is, does anyone have them or have read them, and whats your opinion on them
thanks.

Are you taking about the books like World Builder, Canting Crew, Nation Builder, Living Fantasy, Book of Extraordinary Names, Cosmos Builder, and Insadiae? I have all of those listed above and find them very useful. They cover various topics of creating your own campaign world. For example, some of the tables in World Builder cover such subjects as: Weapons (with pictures/sketches and descriptions of each), Measurements, Armor (same as weapons), The Tavern, Transport. That is just in what they call "Book One: Stock in Trade". In Book Two: Geographics, he covers Geography, Flora and Fauna. Appendix A is a Random Generator, and Appendix B is a Human Generator. Canting Crew covers the various criminal aspects of a game world including giving you a dictionary of the canting language.

I have made significant use of the books in just running the various AP's and modules without even trying to build my own world. If that is your thought then I highly recommend that you consider purchasing these books. Understand I am highly biased in my opinion.

I hope this has helped. Just my 2 cp.

That is exactly what I am talking about. Thanks for your input it was helpful.
