Hi Customer Service,
I recieved my Legacy of Fire Part 1 of 6 last week and it did not include the printed version of the Player's Guide like you usually send out with the first issue of a new adventure path. WHY???? These are great reading before starting a new adventure. I hope we can straighten this little problem out.

I'm sure you'll get an official Paizo response soon but it would appear that they are slowly weaning us off of the free players guide in hopes that we will all become companion subscribers. Last AP it was sent for free, this AP it is a free PDF download but you must either subscribe to the companion line or buy it outright...

Now that really stinks, the PDFs are nice but who has a laptop with them while you're answering mother nature.
From now on there will be the official players guide, which is part of the companion subscription, and a 10-15 page free PDF which will look like the RotRL and CotCT will be put online.

Yeah, I was wondering that myself and was just about to post a thread........I guess we have our answer.

Hey y'all:
The price to print the free player's guides and send them out with the Adventure Path subscriptions was just too costly for Paizo to keep doing. So we are trying to come up with new ways to get you that information without breaking the bank. We would have loved to continue to do the free thing, but all our costs are going up, up, up, while the economy continues to go down, down, down. So something had to give. :/
We plan to still give you the cool info you need in a free manner without the need to send print copies all over the world.

Hi Lisa,
Thanks for the response to my question. I guess a free PDF is easier to produce and download. It was nice when the printed version came out so that it can be added to my library of game paths. So I'll need to start reading them in the PDF format instead. No problem with that at all. Thanks again for getting back to my question so quickly. :)

We're actually taking a whole new tack on Player's Guides starting with the next AP. Check out this thread for details.

I really wish you guys would have said something to us about not sending the guide anymore.
I love your work and want to support it but you took away an item that subscribers where getting for subscribing. It was like a bonus for subscribing vs. going to the store and just buying them both.
I'm not a huge fan of PDFs and this kind makes me have second thoughts on keeping my subscription.

I understand where you're coming from, but the free Player's Guides have never been something we've promised on an ongoing basis. We've said you'll get a discount off cover price, you'll get a free PDF with your print edition, and you'll get the Pathfinder Advantage, but we've never said "subscribe and you'll get a free Player's Guide with every Adventure Path." (We have occasionally said "subscribe before the next AP begins and you'll get a free Player's Guide for it," but we did not make that sort of offer this time.)
It's like the holiday cards with discount codes we've sent out, or the free Item Cards we occasionally throw into web store orders. Just because we've done these things for the last couple years, that doesn't automatically mean we'll do it forever.

They did. A mass email was sent out to everyone whose privacy settings allowed them to send promotional emails. It contained the free pdf of the player's guide almost a month before it came out, as well as an explanation of how the new AP was going to work in regards to the player's guide and such.
