Looked at your character sheet - doesn't your acid dart do 1d6 + CL/2? So at 2nd level, it would be 1d6+1, right?

Yes, thanks, I didn't catch that.

Yes, thanks, I didn't catch that.

No problem - I like seeing how folks build their 'casters and we need every point we can get...

OK, I'll bite. Why does the flind's dagger look familiar? Is this something Livvy notices? What sort of roll would be necessary for her to notice and/or remember why it seems familiar?

The Exchange

Intelligence check based on whether or not you remember the dagger.

Erizi's true nature comes through at second level

1d12 ⇒ 1

Oh well, my re-roll can't be any worse :-(.

1d12 ⇒ 10

The Exchange

My wife could give birth any day now, so be prepared for a few days of no posts from me. Of course it could be in four weeks time too.

Cheers

P.S. Did anyone (other than TT) guess why 44xp?

French Wolf wrote:

Congratulations on your expectations. Unless you were just bringing Erizi up to second level, I have no idea.

The Exchange

A Clue: last year on this day all my players received 43xp.

FW:

Spoiler:
So my initial guess is going to be ... Birthday?

The Exchange

Sadly true, AinvarG. I now figure in a new range on my company's yearly questionnaire, no longer in the 34-43 range but in the 44-54 category.

On the plus side I did get the first two parts of Kingmaker as presents.

On the negative side, I am playing in it so have promised the DM not to read most of it for a while.

Cheers

Well, Happy Birthday! And thanks for the birthday present!

Happy Birthday! Does that mean you are gonna run a Kingmaker PbP?

Rimrock wrote:

He is? Oh, pick me! I'll stop reading mine, I will, I promise!!

The Exchange

I'd like to but I'm running two and that's going to be quite enough for the next 12 months.

Just seen my Kingmaker pbp collapse and that hurt because I would love to play in it on the boards as well.

Never mind.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Wish I could help you there, but running two games is just enough for me to feel overwhelmed, but not enough that I feel I should drop one.

Back to the gnoll combat post-mortem. I think having Shimei charge the flind to grapple was a poor choice. My thought was to use up his AoO so you guys could surround him without risk. Best case I actually did get a hold on him and you could have wailed on hiim for a round without any risk. Fortunately for Shimei, Zaid saved his life with the colorspray. Another hit from the flind probably would have dropped Shimei to about -9. In retrospect I think I should have just fallen back, healed up, and returned to combat. Anyone care to throw me some advice?

I agree, Shimei rushing the flind was probably a poor tactic, although it did buy some time to enlarge Nombir and summon the dog.

As an aside, it seems like the combination of Augment Summoning and Summoner's Charm, combined with the 2 HD dog with a trip attack is pretty dang powerful for a 1st level spell, maybe a bit OP?

Oh, I don't know - it costs a full round to cost and only lasts for a single attack for most 1st-level casters, lasts for two for Zaid. It sounds like a good choice, but I won't know if it's really too much. The dog could be effective against a single opponent, but if he can't win the combat maneuver, his bite probably won't take the foe down, either. I do think Zaid put him to the best use in that combat.

I was hoping Norn would be able to get a sneak against the flind, either flanking with the dog or Nombir, but I think she'd been tagged hard enough that she opted for caution and ranged attack. It certainly helped that she rolled a 19 on the attack...

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Set runs a summoner in my CoT game. He posted that they nerfed the dog down a size class in the errata. I let him keep the dog at size because he had already posted with the larger dog and in a level or two it just won't matter.

The cool thing about the dog is it opens opportunities for the melee guys but doesn't contribute bone-crushing damage so the melee types still get their fun too.

Liberty's Edge

Ah, I am not surprised they nerfed it. I'll look at the errata and adjust its stats accordingly.

She didn't.

Oh so that's the way it is. We do all the work and then get to sleep in the sand? Or maybe she'll invite us all to bunk with her?

Actually, it's a good sign. It's the Road to Kelamrane for us. I get to sit next to Dorothy Lamour!

The Exchange

Wouldn't you guys to get bored, would we.

Take care of the family. Thanks for letting us know.

Livvy just attempted to put the fear of little people in Dashki in the main thread. Maybe that thought will make you smile.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

That made me smile. Dashki has been obstructive before. Erizi had to put the arm on him.

Scranford -- way to cover that low intimidation roll. ~rolls eyes~

The Exchange

Since Dashki is facing away, it makes intimidating him much harder. But I'll push this along over the weekend.

Cheers

I hope everyone at the FW household is doing better.

The Exchange

Hi a quick update for you guys,

My son is better but my wife has gone into hospital today with a chest infection. It shouldn't take too long to get her back on track and then there is the small matter of giving birth.

I'll keep you posted although this stuff is low priority this week.

Cheers

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Understandable, FW. I hope your wife recovers soon and the delivery goes smoothly. Glad to hear your son is better.

Do you know the baby's sex yet, or will it be a surprise?

By all means, take care of Mrs. Wolf and the rest of the pack first. Glad to hear your pup is healing. Sorry, simply could not resist.

We'll be here when RL lets you return.

The Exchange

Ellie Rose was born at 3.46pm GMT and everyone is doing fine.

Good luck to all of you, I've just had my slice for the week.

Cheers

Right on! Congratulations!

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Congratulations, FW. Good to hear everyone is doing fine. Best of luck with Ellie Rose. I like the name.

The Exchange

Elanor Rose is named after a flower in Lothlorien and my Nan (Rose). Life should begin to settle down now.

Apologies for not posting this sooner but my half-term week has been a constant stream of visitors and lost sleep. I'll post on this tomorrow.

Cheers

Did you know that these things just drop off the list if you're not careful? Had to look under the desk, under the chair, finally found it on the shelf labeled Arch something. Didn't look like an arch, it was just as straight as the other shelves. I mean, really. Are they trying to confuse people?

Well, now that it's been found, the question of the hour -- if the unthinkable happens and Livvy falls in the village of Kelmarane, is there/are there particular character types that folks feel would benefit the party more than trading a sorcerer for another sorcerer? I suppose there has been some talk of her taking levels in bard -- perhaps the new character could be a bard instead.

Open to thoughts and discussion -- I like to see what other people think and it might influence my decision. Or it might not. I'm almost as chaotic as my beloved halflings that way.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Nice.

Though you do well to worry. If you can't outrun the gnoll horde I'm sure you and Norn and probably Erizi, and maybe Nombir, can make a dramatic stand that will give me time to get away with Zaid, who still seems sensible and speedy. I'll commision your new bard to make up some songs in Livvy's honor.

Seriously, if we screw up and it does come to new characters, play what you want. We'll find a way to make it work.

Male Daytona 500 DM / 12

Erizi will live on until the end of this AP. If he dies I'll just apply the Zombie template, and keep playing him. When his flesh finally is finally completely consumed by carrion birds, and beetles he'll just switch to the skeleton template. No problems.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

And he'll live forever in my heart. Erizi is a blast.

BTW, I'll be away for the Independence Day weekend. Posting resumes Tuesday.

The Exchange

Happy Fourth of July and have a great celebration, chaps.

Cheers

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Jury duty tomorrow. I doubt the Commonwealth will provide internet.

The Exchange

Family stuff/gaming means I will be mostly out of the loop until Sunday. Will post when and if I can until then.

Cheers

Just to let you know, I will be taking what I think is a much-deserved vacation to anywhere but here starting Saturday. I expect to have Internet access, but I don't expect to have a lot of time, so my posting after Friday might be sporadic for a week or so.

Please DMPC Livvy as necessary.

The Exchange

Have fun, Ainvarg. Livvy seems pretty safe for now.

Cheers

Thanks, I will/am. It looks like Internet access is not an issue, but permission from the SO might be. I'll post if I can. End of transmission. ;-)

Dark Archive

Just a heads up from the 2nd of October till the 9th I will be away on holiday and I'm not sure if I will have internet access or not so if I go quiet that's why (also feel free to DMPC me)

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

French Wolf, here's hoping for a quick and complete recovery. I also hope you're enjoying the comforts of home rather than the hospital today.

Don't worry about Kenan: (to be read only if you're feeling psychically strong)

Spoiler:
He's in negative HP, but I'm sure the rest of the party will save him.

(Brett, thanks for the heads up on FW.)

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

French Wolf, don't sweat gaming. Get yourself square and on your feet first. GOod luck with your recovery.

The Exchange

Got computer problems, will post when its sorted.

Cheers

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

FW, sorry to hear about the family. I hope all are well soon.
