Golarion cultures vs real world cultures

Sorry if this has been discussed elsewhere, but I'm wondering what culture the Garundis are based on?

Though I couldn't say for sure, they make me think of Mongolians.

They're down in Northern and Eastern Garund, and Garund is Golarion's analogue to Africa. They're in the region based on Egypt (Osirion) and the areas around it. This makes me think they're analogous to Egyptians mixed with some of the surrounding cultures.

The art in the Campaign Book coupled with the description of their dress and proclivity for mounted archery reminds me of the Parthians.

My guess is anything North African - Egyptian, Berber or Tuareg.

Depends on what helmets the carthaginians wore, I guess. In fact my first thought was assyrian and while I'm no expert for such things (and may be totally wrong), the fact, that the carthaginians stemmed from the phoenicians made me think that's this culture which is simulated in the artwork.

It is very, very likely that I found that hat (which I provided to the artist for reference) while searching for Carthaginian artifacts.
