As some of you may know, one of the goals for this year's PaizoCon is to put together a fanzine (much like Oerth Journal, if you're familiar with that). Since I volunteered to organize and cat herd for this project, as well as get it edited and have some art to go with it, here are the rules and guidelines for submitting an item to the fanzine.
Goal
My goal for the fanzine is to create a collection of stories as if written by members of the Pathfinder Society as they travel through Golarion (or perhaps beyond). If you're writing a fiction/flavor piece, write it as if you are a member of the Society. If you're writing a crunchy article, include snippets of eyewitness observations. Art - field sketches of what your protagonist has seen. Hopefully you get the idea.
Types of Submissions
The types of things I want to see are: short fiction/journal entries, poems/filks, crunch articles (exotic poisons of the Mwangi, traits, elite Korvosan guard stats, more magical foodstuffs, etc). Art can be whatever you'd like to submit, though if an artist and and author want to team up, go for it. :D
Guidelines
- Thou shalt not disregard canon, thou shalt build upon it.
- Keep in mind thy audience. No slash fic/porn fantasies, cheesecake/beefcake/fan service - keep it PG-13.
- Short and sweet. No article over 1500 words. For art pieces, 8 1/2 inches by 5 1/2 inches max.
Submission Instructions
- Send all submissions to me via email with the subject line "PaizoCon 09 Fanzine". My email is listed in my profile.
- All text submissions submitted in .doc format (doesn't matter if you use Office or OpenOffice).
- All image/art in JPG or PNG, 300 dpi resolution preferred. If you do not send it in a high enough resolution, it will be resized appropriately. Black & White/Grayscale only.
- Include your name and board name in your submission - example, "Liz 'Lilith' Courts".
- Your entries will go through an editing pass for clarity and concision. I'm in the process of wrangling editors. Depending on time constraints, you may or may not receive feedback on the editing process and your script.
- DEADLINE: April 15th. All entries will be handled on a first come, first serve basis. No exceptions. I reserve the right to close entries should I get inundated, though I may be handing out art assignments if I don't get enough.
There you have it folks. I look forward to the entries. :)

So what kind of art stuff are you looking for? B/W or color?
I do believe my post said:

hosting fees? ;)

Well I have got something done but it is over 1500 words (1800) so I will start to edit it down. I will also need to do the sketches that go with it. Hopefully have it to you next week.

Cool! Is there a place where we can sneak peek small thumbnails or something?

Hmmm. I'm thinking about setting up a crunchy article on the dawnflower dervishes, but I'll have to retool the dervish a bit to take it from being a complete ripoff of a non ogl class to something a little more ogl compliant.
Also, Immora has agreed to do an illustration for it if I can manage to get the article done in time. Yay!
Lastly, I'd like to know if there is any thing I can do to make your life easier with things light fonts, colors, and statblocks.

Lilith, I won't be able to make it to PaizoCon '09, but my entry will be heading your way soon. I just finished cutting my fiction down to 1,500 words. (It was painful, but necessary.) It's going through an editorial review (i.e., my friends are critiquing it) before I submit it.
Thanks for putting this together! Even if I don't make the cut it was nice to sit down and actually finish writing a piece of Pathfinder fiction.

Lilith, I have an editorial question. Having learned to type on a typwriter, I typically insert two spaces between sentences. It's been pointed out by some of my experienced writer friends that some editors hate that. Do you have a preference for 1 or 2 spaces between sentences, or does it not matter?
Thanks!
Paris

Only one space please - the double space has fallen out of practice with the advent of variable typefaces.

I sent a submission to you too!
That would be two of us from the Pathfinder Chronicler sending you a 1500 word piece.
Cheers!
