I am going to be at Paizocon taking full advantage of 24 hour gaming if it puts me in debt for five (more) years, but no one wants to see a fellow gamer suffer like that, right? Luckily, you can do something with that overflowing generosity! Donations, no matter how small, are now being accepted via paypal. Please send whatever you can to this screen name@gmail.com on paypal and I will provide a full report of every single thing I do while I'm there on the PathfinderWiki, and I will give you my firstborn child. I plan on having lots of firstborn children, by the way, so you can all have one!

Spoiler:
While I'm not serious about the firstborn child thing, I am serious. Help a guy out!

Spoiler:
And if you can't donate, do you wanna split a room?

Grand Lodge

It sucks actually! I mean it's nice if one can afford $129 (per night) in this economy, but I sure as hell can't (much less being able to afford the drive or flight to Washington State)...

Poo! Big heaps and gobs of Poop!

Well you may have to convince my wife that i need to go... though I am sure she will try and deny the lure of going to the greater Seattle area for a weekend.

Unfortunately, I can't really afford to get there myself. However, I do recall you saying that you had family in Columbia, MO. Perhaps we should organize:

PATHFINDERCON I!!!! In the heart of the nation, where almost everyone is equally far away!!!! C'mon, everybody! Come to Columbia, Missouri, where we have good pizza and a lot of Pathfinder fans!!! And cheap hotels!!!

I can probably scrape together the cash for the hotel … can someone spot me on the plane tickets?

I haven’t checked, but surely it can’t cost that much to fly from Australia … right?

Not with a proper dirigible.

If you start building now, and cast off soon thereafter, you'll be right on time!

I just wanted to use the words dirigible and thereafter.

Frost said if I could get a thousand people to buy losing rafle tickets at $100 each Paizo would buy me a plane ticket that would fly me through and airport in the world a few times... I could probably hide you in my luggage if you'll hide me in your room and buy a ticket :)

Spoiler:
Of course, this senario assumes I get the winning ticket...

You people are not taking this thread seriously. 11 posts and not one cent has been sent to my paypal. Everyone who can't go and isn't even close to funding their own trip there should give $5 to me. $10. Whatever! But no more posts to this thread unless it is accompanied by a donation.

I can has ur pocket changes!!!

Wasn't there a semi-decent Con in Columbia a few years back? I'm in about three hours away, but I'd be interested.

That certainly helps! Hold that spot for me, and once I get my fflumphs in a row I'll let you know if I've made other arrangements. I am looking for cheap Motel 8 quality dives nearby, but even those might not be cheaper than splitting one of the nicer discounted rooms.

edit: And I now have the first two donations! My faith in humanity has been restored.

Anything within walking distance of the Coast Bellevue Hotel will be more expensive. This is downtown Bellevue, after all. Work with other attendees to go 2-way, 3-way, or 4-way on a room and it'll be much, much cheaper for you.

When you know people online only, you tend to imagine them a certain way. But now I'm imagining a future movie about Hugo the Artist being titled, "My Left Cheek."

This thread has gone way off-topic.

Please divert your attention here instead. The magic word is yoda8myhead@gmail.com. Two fine Paizonians know how good it feels to sponsor a needy gamer in his effort to go to three days of summer camp. You can too!

For once, I'll post in a non-derailing way. Give Yoda your change, people! Paypal will accept your credit card.
Better?

I swear to the gods that I too will go to Paizocon, but not this year.

Cause I'm still in China.

Really, my brother lives a few blocks away.

...

No... you can't have his address or telephone number.

If it was me, dude, you would be fine. You could crash with the dogs or something.

Yes, also, Paypal accepts Paypal. Lots of people have been asking for Paizo to accept it but they refuse. Consider me your middle man! Give me your paypal dollars and I'll turn around and give them to Paizo! See? It works out for everyone.

Dude -

If you had just tried harder to be nice to me, I could have bank rolled your whole trip. Know this, I'm the kind of guy who buys his good friends new cars for their birthdays. See what your unkind and contrarian ways have wrought? Just think what could have been...

P.S. It's too late to change your ways now. Now I'll think any kindness you show me is just to get at my money.

P.P.S. Stop begging dude. It's unseemly. In public anyway.

It's all good. I'll get there no matter the circumstances. Some people have been generous without conditions and I'm grateful. I've contributed to similar paypal fund drives for Paizo staffers and such and don't see it as any different. $5 for pizza or $10 to help a fellow fan get to Seattle aren't that different in my book. But no one's obligated to do anything, and I don't actually hold the illusion that other people will entirely fund a vacation for me. If they don't I'm fully willing to join Daigle in his hobo camp! By Erastil, I'm an Eagle Scout! I can bed down in a tent city with the best of 'em!

I'm not sure common courtesy and basic kindness qualify as "conditions" being placed on anyone, but you say tom-aa-to, I say tom-ah-to...

If you feel you have been mistreated, you know how to contact me directly. We play together five or six times a month, so you have plenty of opportunities to discuss my perceived lack of common courtesy and basic kindness. Using these forums for this seems inappropriate and inefficient unless your goal was merely to publicly paint me as an a!@&~%#. In any case, you have my cell phone number and my email address and will see me next time we play in Gary's campaign or Savage Tide. I'm happy to discuss at length with you all the ways I have slighted you if you so desire.

You publicly portray my generous nature as being "conditional" on something, when you know from experience that is not true. I felt the need to respond, perhaps in an inappropriately public forum. I apologize.

I don't feel slighted, but I am confused.
I know you to be an intelligent, educated, and capable person. Why would you resort to begging to go to a Con? You're better than that dude. There are a hundred other ways to earn extra money. I know you to be an excellent writer, even when I disagree with your movie reviews, so you could teach writing. (Did you know that tutors in NYC make $50/hour?) You seem to be good with computers, so I'm sure you could hire out as an IT guy who helps people set up and/or fix their computers. You could even offer your properly remunerated services to set up the projection system for the Tower, especially if and when the fancy new table arrives. A win-win situation if there ever was one. That's just off the top of my head.

I am not your enemy, yoda. I have hosted your weekly gaming group regularly for more than a year now, I have supported your desire to DM said group (when given the chance), and I share your interest in Golarion, PFS, and all things Paizo. Finally, whatever our differences, I have too much respect for your intelligence and ability to see you as a beggar. You should too.

dude do you realize that paizocon is the day after my birthday, which means that if I'm coming (which at this point I'm planning too) I will have to spend my birthday on a plane from FL to Washington. So if anyone should be getting donations, it should be me as a birthday gift.

By the way anyone who wants to go in with me on a room let me know, that includes you Yoda, right now I need all the help I can get. the only rule I have is that you have good hygene. I will not room with someone I can smell from 5 feet away so if you don't wear deoderant do not contact me. My email is the<insert my screename>@yahoo.com

I am almost tempted to do the same thing you are yoda, almost. I know the misses would skin me alive and that with us going to GenCon our funds are tight enough. Maybe if I win the lottery... then I would even be willing to pick up the rest of the tab for you, and maybe even share a room with daigle.

Happy early birthday! I suggest starting your own thread for early birthday presents and see how that works out for you.

As to the room, I've gotten a few people offering/inquiring about the same thing and I'm not sure how to arrange it. In theory, up to four people can share the same room, correct? I know the price goes up a little, for a roll-away bed or what have you, but I'm sure it's still cheaper the more people you cram in one room. I propose we as a group start a room sharing thread and give that topic the attention it deserves independent of this thread as a lot of people might avoid this thread who would otherwise be looking for a roomie.

Deathboy wrote:

You know, I have to give yoda points for having the moxie to actually ASK for money. I certainly don't begrudge him for the begging....I am just astounded that people are GIVING him money!

I would donate, but....if I did, I would feel that everyone would wanted to come but couldn't afford it would be equally deserving.

I don't have that kind of money, folks.

Now, if I DO ask for donations, I'll do it for something that benefits the entire PaizoCon. Donations for a fund to buy prizes for a drawing. Donations to help fund travel expenses for a writing contributor that wants to come, but cannot afford it. Stuff like that.

So, kudos to you, yoda, for coming up with a clever way to get your butt to Seattle! I can't wait to meet you and all the other hobos that will be sleeping in the parking lot...until the Bellevue police haul you away to the drunk tank. :D

You and me both! I made the initial post more to get other poor people to commiserate with me, but the same generosity that has been shown in this community reared its head again. I didn't expect anyone to actually do it, but I appreciate those who found a few bucks lying around to toss my way. Once I find a roomie or two or three I should be set. Even if no one else takes the post seriously and I receive no more donations, I'm already in much better shape to get the plane ticket.

I will ship my firstborn child to each and every donor once I have adequate packing material. And a child...

Paizo Employee Director of Brand Strategy

In case anyone was worried, and I know you were all on the edges of your seats for this one, I have a hotel room share arranged now. Thanks for the offers, for those who made them on this thread. I will keep everyone updated as my dreams continue to realize.
