Update from earlier: Necromancer Games
February 29, 2009: Big things are on the horizon for Necromancer Games!
First, With the upcoming release of the final version of the Pathfinder rules from long-time partner Paizo Publishing, look for Necromancer to begin supporting that system. "Erik and Lisa and everyone at Paizo are the absolute best. With Pathfinder, they have perfected the branch of D&D that started with 3E and grew to 3.5. Its an amazing system," says Clark Peterson, president of Necromancer Games. "We are in discussions now with our friends at Paizo on how best to support Pathfinder," Peterson says.
Second, Peterson finally reveals plans to bring First Edition Feel to 4E: "In addition to our support for Pathfinder, we believe in supporting the most current official version of D&D--and that is 4E. We plan to create a community-sponsored, grass-roots development of some old-school rules alternatives for 4E, not to replace 4E but to supplement it. To let old school gamers like me play the game we want but with the modern rules and the modern tech," Peterson says. "Keep an eye on our site and boards in the coming months as we start this process. A design team is in place. But we intend to enlist the help of all of you--the real old school players--to help design the rules that you think are lacking, much like Paizo used an open playtest to develop the Pathfinder rules."
And in more news, look for a redsign of the Necromancer site coming soon, along with a hosting switch over. "If you notice a glitch with the site in the next week or month, don't be alarmed. The sacrifices and rituals are going according to plan, but demon princes are so finicky, Peterson says.

WHAT?? No, seriously: WHAT??

Promising!

Hopefully Pathfinder support won't only mean releasing "Slumbering Tsar" as a Pathfinder product. (Although at this point, if that's all we get, I'll take it.)
Seconded

Got it covered, too, with an example and more links.

Somebody screwed up here badly, I guess :-) Or I didn´t notice that the Gregorian Calendar had been reformed again. (Jeesh, what´s with all these reforms? Every few hundred years you have to get used to a new one. These youngster popes seem to think they know it all.)

Oh Dave, not so dour! No, we plan to fully support Pathfinder. Not just with a toss of product. That is our goal.
I want a 3.5/PRPG Slumbering Tsar...

Tome of Horrors for PFRPG would be pretty awesome as well.

I don't know about this idea.
I guess if you have a customer base that is looking for this sort of thing, then great. But putting a 'first edition feel' into 4e seems likely to require so many changes to 4e that the 4e fans won't like it, but will necessarily keep enough of 4e that the people who dislike 4e won't care for it. Who is the target audience here and how big is it?
I like the first edition feel concept, and I think Necromancer has done a great job with it previously. I'm looking forward to seeing that continue with respect to Pathfinder.
First Edition feel in 4e? I don't know. Just by way of example, the abilities in 4e that allow players to move monsters around the board, pull monsters back to them, or otherwise simply manipulate minis like a board game would be comical in any system that purports to retain a first edition feel. But I hardly think that aspect of 4e can be done away with - it is so integral to the system.
Yeah...well, good luck I suppose (personally I'd rather see the energy spent on Pathfinder). My main concern with this would be a hybrid that doesn't make either group (4e fans and older edition fans) happy.

Personally, I don't see Divide and Conquer as working...
I wont buy anything with the number 4 on it but I will buy print and PDF versions of 3.5 or Pathfinder anywhere near it.

I don't know, I'm sure it can be done to some extent. "Bringing 1st edition feel" doesn't have to mean bringing the mechanics, but more the raw, dangerous feel of 1st edition.. or whatever else they can come up with that brings back good memories.
That said... I agree, I'd *rather* see the exquisite minds at Necromancer focused on Pathfinder :)
[By the way, good to see you around more again DF, missed ya.]

While I am glad to see that Necromancer is not dead I am a little sad that they chose to support PF. I was hoping to have a company backing up 4E. I was liking that I'd have two awesome companies supporting the different brands of the game. I know 4E isn't the easiest to support but it was a nice picture in my head. Paizo backing the new 3E with PF and Necromancer behind 4E.
Still really looking forward to what is in the works. Perhaps that adventure path I saw mentioned on the site back when...

Clark has stated recently if you didn't see it on the varies forums. That after checking into it, that Necro's support of 4e will be very limited. As in maybe only a couple of products and even then they might be PDF's only. There is a thread about it here on paizo somewhere, Enworld and of course on Necromancer forum.
