Patrick: I'd prefer that you wait to free the Harlequin, and if you can't, remember that he's being guarded by Candle Lighter and a Great Wyrm white dragon.
Why exactly is it such an issue? I like The Giggler, he is one of the few bad guys I have left in the threads at the moment. I don't really see any reason why he should be sequestered for some unspecified time. I have not heard any information on what story you are building around his capture.
If you have some sort of interaction with him planned, write it. If not, the Giggler will be skipping out ...

Thank-you for the well-wishes. I am now recovered enough to make a couple of posts (and to have lined up another alias) before I need to think about retiring for the night.
I see you found something to do with the politician idea.
Is anyone trying to track down where this latest wave of stars to hit the Bazaar came from? If not, the traders from Leng may well be back at some point in the future...

It's not 'such an issue'. All I asked was for you to wait a bit so that I could set up the area.I agree that the Giggler should be released, but I don't think he should just be able to ignore all continuity. I said earlier that two dragons, CL and the white dragon, were guarding him. I can hardly pretend that didn't happen.

No, actually all you asked was that I 'wait a bit'. All I'm asking is that you come up with something or I will assume you are not interested in writing a story arc. It has been more than two weeks since he 'killed' LJ, and I would like to explore some ideas utilizing him.
Once again, if you are interested in writing something involving him, feel free. If not, then he will escape, dragons or no. He has the ability, well established at this point, of being able to change into water, so escaping will be a very easy feat for him. I don't think it is too much to ask, and I have been patient for the sake of story continuity, but I think two weeks is plenty of time to figure out something.

Go on ahead any time. Might want to hurry. I'd like to be here when it happens.

Okay, I probably won't be around when you break free, so you should know:
Should the Giggler get free, Frost will attempt to re-freeze him with his breath, Cl leaping out of the way. Should that fail, and the Giggler get free, they will resort to fighting. They are aware that they probably can't beat him should that happen, as CL is weak in this environment and the white dragon is weak with age, but they'll still try. CL will probably flee if it looks bad.

A bump and repeat of my question as to whether anyone is trying to track the source of the latest influx of stars to the Bazaar?
It isn't my intention to cause a long-term problem with constant releases (and unfortunately I seem to have been ill at a crucial period of action in the Bazaar) but the traders from Leng will pop back with more to sell (having acquired most of the ones from Dream which ND didn't get her claws on) and sooner or later if they keep doing it, they will end up delivering some into unfortunate hands.
As to how they are transiting to/from the Realms of Dream, given the lockdown, they have a deal with the owner of one of the few fortresses which controls a nominally independent gate.

I was going to have Azuri'ith try to negotiate with them, but you had them leave before he could even hear about them. Arielle was literally leading them to the stall at the time. They have zero way to find out or track these people. All they know is that some traders showed up and Arielle told them they brought the stars in from off-plane. I have no idea how I can possibly stop them from continuing to give the stars to people we really don't want to have them. And while we're tracking down those ones, more can pop up at any moment. Azuri'ith would be more than happy to broker a deal with them. What he can't get, well, there are definitely advantages to having a djinn cleric as an ally. But traders we can't track from an area where we can't travel...
I just don't know how you expect me to solve this.
lynora |

Asking some of the people you're taking stars off where/how they got them?
The problem with that is that we're now dealing primarily with people who are hostile to us and not particularly prone to giving out information. I can have Allura try to charm the information out of the politician. That's pretty much our only chance. At that point though based on what you've said about these traders not coming on any set schedule, the only way to make this work would be to have someone stake out the bazaar and hope I was online at the time the next time they show before we end up with a new round of problems.

lynora |

Sorry for this position, but I wasn't thinking very clearly Wednesday night; I nearly edited the post, having started it before yours went up, and having then seen yours, but at that point I was feeling thoroughly tired, ill, and fed up and just wanted to get to bed. :(
I can sympathize. I do hope that you're feeling better. I had an icky bout of adenovirus last week myself, and I know how easy it is to get cranky when sick.
I just really need something more to go on than mysterious traders who show up sometimes from a place called Leng I've never heard of before. (Should I have?) If there were a name or a schedule or something. What I've just typed here is the most information I can possibly get from the only source who is likely to talk to me about it based on things the way they are right now. I just really need something to work with more than that.

Hmm. Well the politician knows that they come from 'some other world', will have a basic description of them, and that sometimes, before they head home wherever it is that they head home to, that they stop to buy slaves - and that whilst currency which they take for their wares varies, they like to pay for purchases with very large, fine, rubies.
He can probably pinpoint where he shopped from them this time, although they will have moved off to inspect the bazaar's slave markets by then.

Okay, thanks. That's something I can work with. Given some judicious use of 'Attraction' and 'Read Thoughts', Allura should be able to get that info out of the politician without much trouble.

I think we could use some clarification from Kobold Cleaver whether the cave is on a demiplane or in the Realm proper.
A couple of hundred years have gone past if it's in the Realm proper, quite possibly.
Sooo ... basically if the cave is in the Realms of Dream that would mean that basically The Giggler is kept out of the current thread for a couple hundred years? If so, I really can't get behind that angle, it is pretty much the same as if he was a hunk of ice for the next few centuries ...

Charles Evans 25 |
Since the battle between the green and black armies, whilst only a few weeks have gone past in the rest of the game, a couple of centuries have gone past in some parts of the Realms of Dreams. ND needed that for a pet project.
Edit:
I think I mentioned that somewhere on one of the posts for the Realm of Dreams.
If the dragons have been keeping him in the Realm of Dreams, it might not have applied to wherever the dragons have been keeping the Giggler, but it's there if the Giggler wants to be annoyed at having been 'kept on ice' for that long.

Auziark the Mad |

Hello there.
Rustles wings a little uncertainly.
I am Auziark the True, and I shall shortly be commencing my plan to inspire the peoples to worship the one True goddess of beauty and war, Arielle.
There have been assertions that I have a patron, who has been helping me towards this end, providing funding, items, spell-scrolls, etc. Well these rumours are true, but frankly I haven't the faintest idea who that patron is at the moment, and even if I did, I wouldn't disclose any names.
I am enthusiastic about the possibilities of such actions propelling the child in question to her true place at the head of our church, and putting her at the forefront of our army to conquer the world in the name of beauty.

lynora |

Oh dear. That sounds like trouble. Anyhoo, I don't mind dragging the quest out and making it difficult, but I think we need to adjust the number of stars down a bit. Otherwise it just gets silly. Especially since it gets more difficult to obtain each one as we go on. I don't think the traders should have more than two to three dozen at most. And that only if there aren't any others left in the Dreamlands that don't belong to Nirellia. I'd rather not be still working on this quest next year. :)

Charles Evans 25 |
...Anyhoo, I don't mind dragging the quest out and making it difficult, but I think we need to adjust the number of stars down a bit...
Umm, I seem to have taken it perhaps more literally than you intended with regard to numbers when you indicated that a 'galaxy' had risen from Lynora-Jill?
Anyhow, with regard to the Realms of Dream, if a lot of them ended up there, there are three possible concentrations:
1) ND & Eiboria
2) The Denizens of Leng
3) The Eighth Runelord if Auruns hung on to any (or his descendents may have done).
They've had a couple of hundred years collecting, so however many there were are now pretty much all concentrated in these hands.

lynora |

It's more of a stylized shape, like that used for her holy symbol. Dozens rather than hundreds or thousands. Mostly because I'd really like to have my character back sometime. I was expecting her to be out of commission for a month, maybe two at the outside, but not forever. How you distribute the remaining stars between those groups is up to you, but there should only be three dozen, tops.

lynora |

For clarity, is it number of stars which is a problem for you, or number of quests/sub-quests which have to be dealt with?
My impression is the latter.
Your impression is correct. I really wasn't planning on having to go after difficult to obtain individual stars until we were down to the last dozen or so.

Charles Evans 25 |
Okay, I'm trying to throw out teasers and little hints of where I'm going with what will be the last star.
ND very seldom apologises for anything done (even when in disguise) - and never has any regrets about anything done, but sometimes just occasionally 'might have done things different with better foreknowledge'.
