And her mother, Melusine, is the High Priestess of the very powerful church of Aventurnus. She's kinda a cross between Angela Petrelli and Atia from the Rome TV series.

No problem. I'll do Joren if you want. I can RP self-righteous prig pretty well LOL

OK, I made up Joren. Any particular past history you want him to access just post it here and I will work it into the dialog.

Charles sorry about tardy posting on the Grove thread, I totally missed it earlier.

That's okay, Patrick. I made the second post to bump the thread up, and catch your eye in case you'd missed the first one.

Auruns has been recalled from the Oasis and done his best to leave a farewell message, since nobody seemed to be around.

At present, the only goblin belonging to the Eigth Runelord who might still be in play is Yames Boornd, who is sort of a remote operator assigned for dangerous missions anyway.

The Eighth Runelord currently has no wish to be found or bothered by anyone. For anyone trying to follow, he evacuated his goblins to a mustering point in the Realms of Dreams, and has made arrangements to ensure that the trail is likely to go cold exceedingly quickly and likely to be watched by some very unpleasant things.

Charles, so Auruns took the stars with him to the Realm of Dreams?
Man, Arielle is going to end up there sooner than I thought...

He took some stars with him, but nobody seems to have been around in the Oasis at that time to see him go (except for maybe Spotty the Rust-Monster).

Edit:
And whilst Spotty may be an exceptionally intelligent Rust-Monster I doubt that he can identify at a glance through a portal which plane of existence lay on the other side.

Eh, I was just referring to the fact that there's another location already picked clean which decreases the amount of time Arielle spends on the star hunt before she's forced to go to the Realm of Dreams because it's the only place left to look.

But there are an infinite possible number of threads.
There's that city at war on the sea floor which could have a thread of its own, the dwarven halls, the ruins of the place which the Goddess of Dangerous Knowledge torched - plus defunct threads such as Club Calistria and The Records Room... :D

Details of how Arielle is able to locate stars would be handy.

So far (with the possible exception of Nirellia's servants going straight to the World Ash, and the spymistress in the carnival) any of my characters have had to find them the hard way by searching a lot, and may have missed/overlooked some, (or deliberately left some behind as in the case of the nymphs at the Bazaar).

The Grey Wanderer's minions are also uninterested in collecting any of them except for the one which frustratingly their little compasses and pendulums won't give them a reading on, and will leave any others they come across behind.

Oops.

Giggles.

Most of LJ's divine power is residing in Arielle at the moment. Not that she can use it. She's just a baby, even if she does look ten years old. But she basically can hear a sort of resonance when she gets close to pieces of mommy, so she just sort of hones in on them without really understanding how she does it. So she basically just wanders around until she gets close enough to a star to hear the resonance.

Hey, someone has to have fun messing with them.

Edit:
The Grey Wanderer's minions, I mean.

It may be helpful to Arielle in her search if she can at least hone her techniques to be able to get a direction to 'the nearest'.
The Night Dragon can probably block any resonance from the heart of her realm. I'm not sure to what extent the Eighth Runelord would be able to do so, if he wished, once he discovers what Auruns has collected as some souvenirs. He might advise Auruns to trade them away to someone else, such as some passing denizens of Leng....

The more pieces Arielle has the easier it gets for her to hear the resonance of other pieces. In otherwards, her range increases dramatically. Since all the pieces want to be put back together, there is a sort of pull between them.

Is every last eyelash and strand of hair necessary?

It doesn't quite work like that. The pieces don't always exactly match up to body parts. Before she was scattered by the Night Dragon's interference, LJ had discorporated into the form of a swirling spiral galaxy. Every single star is necessary to recreate that form. Without recreating that form she can't recreate her physical form. So yes, every last piece is necessary.

Hmmm. :-?

Something to think about there...
Signing off for the night.

Time fast-forwarded in The Realms of Dreams.
If the name ever comes up a DC 55 Knowledge [Arcana] check (or legend-lore) with regard to 'Daelemos' will reveal that he was a very big, bad dragon who roamed several prime-material worlds after coming out of nowhere, before going into long-term hibernation and disappearing from knowledge and view.

Independent and in original form, or just vaguely present in an arrangement at approximately the right place?

Already I had posted that a couple of craftsmen at the bazaar were incorporating stars into magic items, and I was thinking that there could be interesting dilemmas down the road if one has been beaten into a pruning hook which is currently turning the tide on a disease & insect afflicted farm.

The pieces are like diamonds, and trying to beat one or cut one would give a very, very nasty shock. They can be attached to something, but not altered. Unless they are hit with a whole bunch of negative energy and smash one, in which case LJ is dead and that's the end of it.

Yep. Congratulations, Dad, you've got a daughter. :)

Basically, LJ didn't know she was pregnant when she died, and her power went to Arielle being so kind as to create a body for the girl so she wouldn't die.

Well I believe I should be completely honest when answering her questions...and at least in sync with the Jack POV...10 year olds can drink beer, right?

She's not actually 10. She's only two days old! And no, 10 year old *CANNOT* drink beer. Are you trying to stunt her growth?

But, on the bright side, when she's older you have my blessing to scare the snot out of any boys who want to date her ;)

OK, I guess. What about a tatoo? Automatic weapons? Cigars?

Absolutely no smoking. A tatto is fine, but make sure it's something she really likes first. She might still be a bit young for automatic weapons.

A dummy grenade as a rattle? Bomb-bastic Barbie? If no automatic weapons, how 'bout a combat knife? I think her Jack uncles could really set her up.

A combat knife? Well, okay, but make sure you teach her how to use it without hurting herself first. Bomb-bastic Barbie is fine as long as she doesn't come with any live bombs. And I think Arielle kinda skipped the rattle stage. But it's not a bad idea. As long as there are no live explosives involved.

Wasn't there a 'Blonde Bombshell' card in one of the expansions for the Ravnica block for the dreaded M:tG Collectible Card Game?

Oh, wait you said 'no live explosives'... :(

Back in a couple of hours; I can't yet see Azuri'ith's most recent post on the Bazaar thread, and the UK version of Life on Mars is just starting... :)

Massive amounts of divine might and your worried about smaoking, boys, and automatic weaponry?!? LOL.

Lynora:
Sorry that took so long; I was press-ganged into readying a meal for tomorrow, whilst I was away from the computer.
Anyway, I dug out my notes on ancient dwarven sagas.... :)
(Blatant showing off of a few pathetic little scraps, or in chatroom parlance, )

I would have liked to deal with the servants of the Grey Wanderer waiting with the Tiara, but I imagine Arielle has a conversation with her her great-grandfather ahead, and after a quick bit of scene-setting, I have to go to bed...

Okay, scene setting getting going; some hints at the awful tragedy which has unfolded so far, and the worse that might yet be to come....

Signing off for the night.

You guys realize that the roleplaying has been going on for over 3 months? That's about a 100 days!
This plot has advanced a lot. Time was, it was just me and some Jacks, and it was weak. It really started with the Defectives, and then the Kittens, and then Lynora came. The Goddess plot was the first real story arc. Then more came, with the return of Candle Lighter (who was originally made just to joke around about Vomit Guy's 'death'), the arrival of more people, and finally it became so big that we had to create this thread just for OOC stuff.
My only regret is the death of a few good OTD threads. The Jacks' place nearly died, the Frogs' did. Regrettably, part of this is probably because of the RPing. Some of it may also be because, after the new RP Jack Clubhouse was made, the RPers felt like they should stop posting with their aliases on the other original 'funny RP' threads.
All the same, we've lasted a while, and we've done pretty well. We've created something which could easilly be made into a novel.
Just want to say, 'great work all'. The story isn't as much about me anymore. Indeed, my characters are bordering on minor, a fact which I don't really mind. My time's past. Whippersnappers.
Hmm. I need a 'cranky old guy' alias.

Shadow Lodge

My only real concern is that we may never stop this RP! Thank you all for a wonderful time, and I hope we can continue to bring in new players as old arcs die, and we need new ones.

100 days? No wonder I'm tired. ;)

I still post in the Jack's thread, but I do keep the RP out of it. The Jacks could use an influx of thieves and peasants. Just to make sure they're awake. ;)

I've started to post there a little bit lately, but honestly even playing to the old persona it still feels kinda uncomfortable. Probably just me.
