A Pathfinder Fan Site?

General Discussion (Prerelease)

For awhile I have been throwing around the idea of launching a Pathfinder Fansite. Basically a place to make news and reference material readily available for the Pathfinder RPG and the Pathfinder line in general. I would eventually like to include fan contributions as resource material as well.

I have crudely slapped together a website, along with some very basic content pages and I was wondering if I could solicit some feedback.

  • Do you see a use for such a site?
  • Any recommendations for content?
  • Are you aware of any other Pathfinder fan sites that are similar to this? (Other than Pathfinder Wiki)

Please check out the Pathfinder Portal.

Thanks.

(Note: Should I deem there to be enough interest in such a fansite I will then begin the process of finding and learning about using a content management system, and how to do database queries. Once the content management system is in place, then I will be soliciting for volunteers to help keep the news and content up to date.)

Well done, but I have a question - add a link to a forum discussion Paizo, or create your own?

Dark Archive

I'm currently working on something very similar. Once it's ready it'll be located on pfrpg.dk. I'm really just waiting for Paizo to come out with some sort of fansite policy that I think they've been working on.

As for your site, I like the simple design. Easy to use as a visitor and I'm not distracted by all kinds of bling. Lookin' good.

As far as forums are concerned, I think I'll just to this community from my own site. I'd like for my own site to be part of this community and not its own little thing.

I will add a link to Paizo's forums as I don't have any plans to start Pathfinder discussion forums here. Paizo already has some good categories on their forums, with the added benefit that most Paizo staff regularly read their own forums.

The WotC forums had some good categories for the D&D forums. I'm fairly certain Paizo will probably have similar forums set up when the game is officially released. If they don't, then I would certainly consider picking up the slack, but first I'd probably try to build support for Paizo to host the requested forum categories.

One correction: the Pathfinder RPG is coming out in August, not, as noted on the site, October.
Thanks for your work!

We expect to release our Community Use Policy this month.

I think is a good idea as long as Paizo is OK with it. I think this site should contain fan produced stuff, sice everything else you can find it here. Poduct review, discussions, news, etc etc. You can't find fan written stuf, only links to it. So if this site provides that, I'd make sureto visit it often looking for that, since everything else I can find it here and "official".}

This is a great idea! I'm looking forward to see how it developes

Great to hear. I would hate to do a lot more work on this and find out later that I have to remove half the content :)
