Overcoming Damage resistance and the Bane enchantment

From the Bane enchantment description:

Against its designated foe, its effective enhancement bonus is +2 better than its normal enhancement bonus.

From the description I'd say that such a weapon would also bypass damage reduction against its designated foes like it was +2 better than its normal enhancement bonus. But what happens if you fight a designated foe with eg. DR 10/- with a +4, bane weapon? You'd be touching epic territory here but there are no rules how and if a +6 or higher weapon would overcome epic DR.

My shot at overcoming epic DR: -2 to epic DR for every enhancement bonus over +5. So a +7 weapon would ignore the first 4 points of epic DR an enemy might have.

I guess I thought nothing overcame #/- DR even epic weapons don't?

That being said a Weapon crafted to slay a specific foe seems in the spirit that it would over come any DR that creature had.

The Pathfinder rules about enhancement bonus overcoming certain types of DR synergize with the bane property.

DR/-- and DR/epic may still be a pain but most foes you'll go up against have DR that can now be overcome by the effective enhancement bonus of a bane weapon (bonus + bane bonus, minimum +3).

+3 vs. cold iron/silver
+4 vs. adamantine
+5 vs. alignment-based

A +1 bane weapon already bypasses DR/cold iron and DR/silver against the designated type of foe.

There seems to be some confusion here. DR x/- and DR x/epic are different things. DR x/epic is overcome by weapons that have an enhancement bonus of at least +6. DR x/- cannot be overcome by any kind of weapon.

In 3.5 without the Epic Level Handbook the only way to beat a DR x/Epic (the Tarrasque and Solar) is to have the appropriate Bane Weapon. So a +4 or +5 Bane Weapon will beat Epic DR against it's chosen foe.

If PF comes up with Epic Material then I'm sure they'll come up with the appropriate mechanics.
