Monk´s Robe - Or how to be a superior Monk by cross classing into fighter.

The title says it all. I always wondered how this relatively affordable item can allow a Monk to to get +5 class levels in two of his best class abilities. If I compare a Monk 11/Fighter 5+ to an equal level pure Monk build the later looses by a considerable margin when it comes to melee prowess. Imho the full BAB, Weapon Training and the additional feats are invaluable. Especially Vital Strike and Improved Vital Strike takes the cake as the Monk gains his full flurry progression at level 11 and can now qualify for Improved Vital Strike at Level 19.

boy you hit the nail on the head. but i beleive your core point is that the monk robe is to powerful for the cost..... unfortunately, monks don't spend alot of $$ on swords and Armor, so no matter the cost, it is still the monks holy Grail.

I think the point is that it's kind of embarrassing to have a magic item that says: "We know the monk class is kind of crappy, so please buy this item and multiclass out of it, we're begging you, for your own good!" ;-)

Exactly, I forgot to mention this. I was half asleep when I wrote that post. With access to the Robe I don't see any benefit from the monk class that would prohibit cross-classing onto fighter after level 11(or 12 for Abundant Step).
